## Emplacement
Corsair city turned towards the sea, Saint-Malo is today a famous seaside resort. Encircled by ramparts, the closed city of Saint-Malo was admirably rebuilt identically after its destruction to 80% in August 1944. It is a beautiful set that forms the city of Malouine, with its ramparts, its castle and its beautiful buildings. Essential, the promenade of the ramparts offers splendid views of the sea, the sandy beaches at the foot of the ramparts, the National Fort (work of Vauban), the port and the buildings of the city within the walls. To learn about the history of Saint-Malo, head for the large castle keep that houses the museum of the city’s history and the country. Visitors will also be able to visit the Grand Aquarium of Saint-Malo, a space entirely dedicated to the marine world. Every four years, the city of Malouine hosts the start of the Route du Rhum, a famous solo transatlantic sailing race that connects Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
