  • During World War 2, the Japanese used Allied prisoners of war to build a railway from Thailand to Burma so they could supply their army without the dangers of sending supplies by sea. Many prisoners died under appalling conditions during its construction, and the line became known as the 'Death Railway'. It was immortalised in David Lean's 1957 film 'The Bridge on the River Kwai' which centres around one of the line's main engineering feats, the bridge across the Kwae Yai river just north of Kanchanaburi. Although the film was shot in Sri Lanka, the Bridge on the River Kwai really exists, and still carries regular passenger trains from Bangkok as far as Nam Tok. For anyone interested in 20th century history, a visit to Kanchanaburi and the infamous Death Railway is a must. This page gives all the necessary information for train travel from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, the Bridge on the River Kwai & Nam Tok, along with an overview of what there is to see in the area, including the Bridge Over the River Kwai, the Wampo (Wang Po) Viaduct and the museum at Hellfire Pass (Konyu Cutting). You can see the Bridge on the River Kwai as a day trip from Bangkok using the morning train out and afternoon train back, but it's better to make it a 2 or 3 day trip as there's a lot more to see than just the Bridge. For example, you could take the morning passenger train from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi on day 1, stay a night or two in Kanchanaburi, then take the afternoon train back on day 2 or 3, so you can visit Hellfire Pass (less well known than the Bridge, but not be missed) and travel the Death Railway through fantastic scenery over the dramatic Wampo Viaduct as far as its current terminus at Nam Tok.

Die Lage des Hotels, direkt am Fluss, ist schön. Die Zimmer sahen schon sehr abgewohnt aus. Die Bäder müffelten. Eins der Zimmer war bei der Anreise nass und roch stark. Wurde aber gegen ein größeres Zimmer getauscht. Da ringsherum keine Möglichkeiten zum Essen waren, haben wir im Hotel zu Abend gegessen. Dies war am ersten Abend gut. Am zweiten Abend jedoch, waren wir von der sehr langsamen Küche und dem Service schwer enttäuscht. Das Frühstück war reichlich.

เช็คอินครั้งแรกก็ต้องขอย้ายห้องพักเพราะห้องน้ำมีแต่มดดำเต็มไปหมด พอย้ายมาอีกห้อง ก็ไม่ตรงตามสเปคที่จองไว้ เช้ามาออกไปข้างนอกกลับเข้ามาเย็นๆเดินกลับห้องตัวเอง เจอคนอื่นอยู่ในห้อง พอขึ้นไปถามพนักงานก็บอกว่าเขาเป็นลูกค้าประจำคือเป็นลูกค้าประจำจะทำไรก็ได้หรอ ข้าวของของผมก็โดนย้ายออกมาโดยที่ไม่โทรมาแจ้งให้ทราบเข้าห้องผมออกไปย้ายของของผมออกมากองไว้ในออฟฟิต

โรงแรมน่ารัก ไวไฟแรง มีแพ เหมาะสำหรับพักผ่อน

- โรงแรมหาง่าย มีป้ายหน้าทางเข้า - มีสระว่ายน้ำเล็กๆ - มีไวไฟที่เร็ว สัญญาณทั่วถึง - รีสอร์ทไม่ใหญ่มาก แต่จัดห้องได้น่ารัก พื้นที่ใช้สอยจัดได้ใช้งานอย่างคุ้มค่า - ในห้องนอน มีแผนที่โรงแรม และเอกสารประชาสัมพันธ์สถานที่ท่องเที่ยว - วันที่ไ่ป ไม่มีบริการอาหารเย็น แต่มีร้านอาหารอร่อยอยู่ใกล้ๆ (ขับรถประมาณ 7 นาที แต่ถ้าเดินก็จะไกลหน่อย) - อาหารเช้าไม่หลากหลายเท่าไร แต่บรรยากาศดีมาก และจัดแต่งรีสอร์ทได้สวย

Pessima esperienza

L'hotel è in mezzo al nulla, nessuno parla inglese, poco un ragazzino, metà menù non c'era, di notte formiche e un verme nel letto, essendo tutto in legno i tarli lavoravano di notte e ho ucciso un grosso coleottero sul pavimento che di mattina era sparito....Wi-fi buono. Ho pagato due notti ma dopo la prima io e la mia famiglia siamo scappati. Distante 1 ora dal Parco Erawan dove ci sono i 7 livelli di cascate e 1 ora da Kanchanaburi. Ovviamente hotel tranquillo e non sarebbe neanche brutto se gestito bene. Ci sono stato fine agosto. Sono stupito di altri commenti mediocri.
