After booking it last minute I had a friend cancel coming and was quite disappointed, but upon arrival and seeing how beautiful it was I knew we were meant to be there. It is such a lovely place and the couple who run it are amazing. They were ready for us on arrival with everything being quick and easy. The location is unreal and they are generous with their supplies (especially the cookies which my kids loved). Everything was comfortable and well thought out and there was an abundance of kangaroos out the front. We will definitely go back! Tip: walk the boardwalk to the ferry rather than the roads - it’s just beautiful and especially at sunset! We hadn’t realised that on our way there but did on way back.

Amazing location. Absolute tranquility. Room was basic but clean and tidy with basic kitchen items. Bed was comfortable too. All you can hear are the birds.

We loved the wildlife. Kangaroos were frequent visitors. Lovely bird life. The area was perfect for walking and spotting koalas. Our room was clean and comfortable

Quiet and Quaint

Property is quaint as described. The Koala walk indeed does provide many chances to see them in the trees above. There are lots of birds on the island as well.

The Abbey is the only available motel/cottage accommodation on Raymond Island. It is inn a unique location amongst pleasant bush environment and close to the Koala habitat. There is no food or eating places on the island but the ferry service to and from Paynesville which excellent restaurants and cafes and IGa. The Abbey has charm and pleasant seclusion at a very reasonable price. There is tea and coffee and a fridge and microwave. It can be cold in Winter but has a heater. More blankets would be welcome. The bathroom and toilet has a shower and is good. There are warnings about a slippery floor but it needs attention. I do recommend staying on the island for a get away experience and easy access to the Koala Trail. I am glad that we chose The Abbey.

A very high standard room in a lovely setting. We had problems communicating and received no check in instructions but this was rectified by a member of staff coming in to sort out. Kangaroos walked past the window and koalas, echidnas and exotic birds were nearby. There was also no wifi near the rooms, just by reception. However it was a very pleasant stay and deserves 5 stars.

Raymond Island is spectacular. The hotel is in a great location. However, the rooms need a can of paint to freshen them up and please get some comfortable beds. Not a good value for the price you are charging.

We enjoyed a quiet stay in an older property which had everything we needed. Appreciated being allowed to charge our EV at the laundry block. It was fun catching the ferry over to the island and there was nice a sense of community. The koala trail in the morning was fantastic and unexpected - there are lots and I've never seen them in the "wild" before.
