1. Caul View Apartment in Dumfries

Dumfries

"This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. Would definitely come back if in the area."

Days Inn by Wyndham Gretna Green M74

10/10 Excellent

"This is a very convenient hotel just off the motorway. Absolutely fine for the low price I paid. Don't expect much but a clean bed, working electricity and car parking."

Days Inn by Wyndham Lockerbie Annandale Water

8/10 Good

"Pros: - Good value for money - Friendly reception and staff - Handy Services attached - Rooms are a good size and cleaned to a good standard - Breakfast Vouchers on offer for £7.50 valued at £10 - Great balcony view of the lake (Lakeside of the hotel) - Large Car Park - Good sized TV - Very comfy beds Cons: - Multiple sightings of rats outside at night! - Guests smoking weed round the back - Easy access to the hotel by pretty much anyone when Receptionist is elsewhere - Costa and the Bakery are extremely overpriced - Multiple potholes dotted around the car park - Visible pipes in the lake should be submerged - Lakeside path needs more gravel/sand"

The Gables Hotel

8/10 Good

"A lovely place to stay, really handy location and great value. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the restaurant where the menu was quite limited and the food was from a packet rather than being freshly prepared (e.g. smash rather than mashed potatoes). There are plenty of eating options nearby though. Would definitely stay here again if needing to break my journey."

Friars Carse Country House Hotel

8/10 Good

"A unique place to stay for a night. Pet friendly staff. Attentive and courteous too. Room was spacious with decent amount of storage space , had we been staying longer. Wide choice of food for dinner. Carpet in the room where we ate maybe needed a decent hoover and the en-suite had mould spots on the ceiling. The bedroom itself self was clean and tidy. I look forward to staying again."
