This is a beautiful property close to the north entrance of Cotopaxi national park. The grounds are very nice and the beds comfortable. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food at the restaurant was excellent and rated the best in the area.

I would highly recommend Hacienda El Porvenir! The lodge and the amenities were impeccable. The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly very attentive to our needs and spoke fluent English. Mateo and Michele were the best! In the restaurant, Annie and Lady were very pleasant and great servers. Miguel guided our horseback trip, which was the highlight of our trip! We love the food, the accommodations, and the spa. Despite it rugged vintage appearance, we were so surprised to have a high-tech Japanese toilet with so many features in our bathroom. If you are planning a trip to Cotopaxi, you absolutely have to stay here!

We stay at the Hacienda el Porvenir for one night. And let me say I wish I could have stayed longer. The staff makes you feel right at home. They welcome you with some empanadas and the traditional canelaso. The downside to staying at the Hacienda was we couldn’t enjoy what the place had to offer I totally recommend this place.

This is one of the most beautiful and welcoming places we have ever been! Pulling up to the property in a car we were already stunned by the beauty, and it just got better from there. We had a gorgeous room with a fireplace (they made a fire for us!) and a view of the volcano. We went on a stunning horse ride and some short hikes around. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome and couldn't stop gushing about how magical it all was. The food is excellent, as well. Not to be missed!

Amazing hotel, wonderful staff

Superb hotel! They had the kindest, most welcoming hotel staff I have ever encountered. We were warmly greeted with a welcome tea, and the lady at the front told us about the property and showed us around. There were two hot tubs, a cold plunge, and a steam room. The massage was great. Breakfast was included and had fresh fruit, eggs, little breads, juice, coffee. We also did a trail around the property and saw horses and a waterfall. The room was clean and cozy. Before our stay, the hotel helped us get a driver who picked us up from Quito and spent half a day showing us Cotopaxi and dropped us off at this hotel. Wish we had stayed another night here.

This is a beautiful property in the countryside. The staff are excellent, the food was excellent and the location is beautiful. The lodge is so cozy and we spent hours sitting by the fire. This is truly an amazing place. Getting there: the road from Machachi begins with several kilometers of very rough cobblestone, then there is a paved section for a few kilometers, and then a dirt road for the remainder to your destination. If you decide to go on the extra 4km to Cotopaxi National Park, the road is mostly dirt. Inside the park it’s a washboard dirt road. Bottom line: it’s worth the trip, but get an SUV or truck with all wheel drive and higher clearance and drive slow. We had a Renault Stepway (small AWD crossover) and we were fine.

The waitress we had for breakfast was cold and not welcoming. That was very off putting. The cooking teacher was fabulous. The guy at the front desk was also dry and looked bothered when asked questions. Would not go back.

Activities were excellent…shared horseback riding, hacienda lifestyle, e-bikes. Massages (Carmen!!) were amazing. Food was ok but some orders were certainly “lost in translation”, and not well coordinated with the kitchen (make sure to come early to meals if you have an activity planned afterwards). Staff though were lovely. The room was a little small for 2 adults and 2 teens but only because we had lots of luggage from being on a 3 week vacation. Warm water bottles at night were a lovely addition. There was a lovely fire attendant that visited the room very briefly every couple hours in the late afternoon and evening. The road in/out was a little rough, but we had a driver who dealt with it well. Highly recommend this whole experience!

Amazing atmosphere in this country setting. Staff were wonderful, food and drink was great. The spa baths, temezcal, and massages are excellent. Horseback riding was a fantastic experience. The road to get there is difficult, so do not take a regular car taxi to get there, it will not make it and there is no cellular service in the area to call for help whrn you get stuck. Use a truck taxi or SUV. The hotel has wifi.

Fabulous stop

This was a highlight of the trip! What a lovely, cozy lodge. The host went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and cozy from the welcome tea to hot water bottles in the bed! Great food and great activities!
