  • The California Condor was a common sight along the Columbia River in Lewis and Clark's day. By the early 1980's, there were only twenty-two left on the face of the planet, all in California. Today, thanks to a massive effort to re-populate the species via in-captivity pairing, there are some two-hundred members. But their recovery is far from assured. The Oregon Zoo has undertaken its own recovery effort whose ultimate goal is the re-introduction of the species into the protected wilderness area around the Columbia River Gorge. In short, to bring them home. For now, they live out their days in a vast, outdoor aviary designed specifically to mimic their habitat in the wild. If you have never seen one up close before, I urge you to come take a look. They are larger than any flying bird you will ever see, unless you go to Peru. And though black and white practically from head to toe, their plumage shines and reflects the light like dark, polished metal. If that doesn't suit your fancy, I will tell you that, as with all big birds, if you wait around long enough, they will do something so awe-inspiring that it will take your breath away, and something so goofy that you will laugh out loud. Great guesthouse and super location

We had a wonderful time at guesthouse. It is in a very quiet, special neighborhood surrounded by beautiful homes and right on the water. The house has everything you could need and the hosts were very responsive and hospitable. Can’t go wrong with this place.

Beautiful stay on the river

This was a lovely property and we had a great time. It was so clean and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The host was so helpful and communicative. We loved sitting out on the patio and watching the river and we had almost perfect weather for our stay!

The hosts were so wonderful and the house was perfect we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The town was beautiful and very walkable. We really enjoyed the Trolley Trail which our host recommended. The neighborhood was fun to explore.

Another Great Stay

This is the 4th or 5th stay in Carol’s vacation rental for my husband and I. We love to stay here when we come to the Portland area. The neighborhood is quiet, the accommodations very comfortable and clean, and the host is very kind and helpful. We’ll be back next summer!

Fantastic stay

We could not have asked for a better location and accommodations for our stay in Portland area for a trade show. The house is new throughout and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. House is right on the river with access to a dock. Great place!
