looks good from outside
where to start, no door handle on ded 2,handle broken on toilet door, toilet did not flush,laundry smelt like raw sewer. thats just for starters.

Very Inconvenient for a short stay
We were very disappointed when arriving at the accommodation to have no reception area or phone number to call to check in. I remembered a random text I received the day before about picking up a key (I thought it was spam as it was from a company called 'Winnings') The key pick up was about 5km away and closed at 5pm. We made it just in time. On picking up the key they also told me that I needed to have the key back to them by 10am the next day. We were running a marathon that morning so that was very inconvenient. We negotiated to have the key returned by 1pm. We use Hotels.com all the time and have never had a problem, however this accommodation was not a Hotel and did not specify key pick up, drop off or hours of check any where in the booking or correspondence. We were not the only people to have an issue that day, 3 lubricated gentlemen arrived to check in by taxi after 5pm (they also had no correspondence) and had to pay security to drop off keys. I hate to think what their review will be. The rooms are ok however for a 2 bed apartment there is only 1 small double seater lounge which makes it difficult to relax as a family/friends.

So much potential but was let down.
The cleanliness was so disappointing. Stained curtains, lounge and walls. No soap or any amenities in the bathroom. No flipper for the fry pan. The lounge is well past its use by date. Otherwise location was good and a modern hotel.

The place was nothing like the pictures and was also advised that we were situated in town to then find or we were at least half an hour walk from town.. Took nearly an hour to even the keys.. We didn't even end up staying there and paid for a decent hotel in the middle of town as we have a newborn baby and cannot breaking those distances I the middle of winter.. Was also advised we were suppose to pay a $20 cash fee to security to get the key, I'm sure the tax department would like to know about that!!!

Good price, key pick up and drop off could be done differently and we had some noisy neighbours for our stay. All In all neat and tidy apartment.

No doors for one of the bedroom.
We did not expect that one of the bedroom has no doors. I did not see that in the photos and assumed that each bedroom has a door. I wish it had clearly stated that one of the room does not have a door. It may be a great value apartment if the privacy is no issue. It has a nice big balcony, clean and inexpensive but it was not an ideal apartment for us.

Worst holiday Apartment
It was the worst hotel stay of my life! I took my three year old for the weekend and the guests above us were yelling, fighting and screaming till 4am also there was no soap for us to even clean ourselves when having a shower. Will never be returning.

This is no way a Beach Club!
On arrival we could not find a where to check-in. We rang the number of the "Beach Club" as we thought we must have been in the wrong place, as the address took us to a block of units, only to find that we had to collect the keys from Winnings Holiday Accommodation up the road. The woman who I was talking to in the office said "You should read the fine print! It tells you there!", while the woman at the other desk was trying to put her two cents in about it aswell. I showed them a copy of my itinerary that I had printed off the Wotif site, and nowhere there does it say to collect the keys from there. While we were discussing this a man came in and was discussing the same thing and stated that he found them hard to find! Got told "Enjoy your one night!" After getting keys, we were disappointed that the block of units, which had For Sale signs surrounding it from several different Real Estates, was infact the "Beach Club"! It's a very basic block of units with a pool, no views (apart from the backyard of the townhouse next door) and a bathroom you can't swing a cat in. Although the beds were comfy and the linen was clean, the bathroom walls had hairs on them (probably from the cleaning cloth used after previous people left), sliding doors were dirty (on outside, but hadn't been cleaned for ages by the look of it) and there was spatterings of something (possibly coke) high on wall near the bathroom door and on back of bathroom door. All in all, a very disappointing place to stay

Don't stay here
Upon entry to the foyer we were overcome with a pungent odour. Which increased when we entered the lift. The whole complex smelt like mould. No surprise when we opened our room, the same smell. It was unpleasant and nauseating. We had to air the room by opening the sliding doors. And consequently has to suffer the influx of mosquitoes. Wood rot in bathroom cabinet. Minimal nessecities supplied. The unit was overpriced and is definitely only a 1 star. Don't stay here!!!

Crappy apartment
Poorly built apartments that haven't been maintained. Smelly, dirty, cheaply fitted out. They don't even have enough cups/cutlery in the cupboard. Toilet seat was broken. Units smell due to poor ventilation. Can hear everything through the walls and roof include other units water running. Don't stay here! It's crap.

Big price - no dice
We stayed at the Shoal Bay Beachclub Apts on 1/4/17. We were given a room on the groundfloor and were immediately shocked as to the shabbiness of the place - scuffed walls, tired couch which could've told a story or two, curtains faded as thin as paper. Next surprise was the lack of fly screens; fairly crucial when you're across the road from a swamp. There was no soap in the bathrooms, the a/c was so dusty I had to turn it off and the toilet seat had deep, dirty gouges on its surface. I've stayed in worse places....but they also cost less than a burger and chips at the local Wests Club. Shoal Bay will be revisited, but not this tired, dirty heap.

This is not a Hotel in any description
Booked a secret 4 star hotel deal. Turned out to be an Apartment!!! Unpacked and then found we had to drive 1km to pick up keys. Told it was in the small print but it was not. No reception, no toiletries in room, had to wash up everything, push rubbish out or incur charges! Yes not a hotel. If I booked thas wanting an apartment then ok. On main road opposite bus stop, so traffic was heavy esp. In the morning.

Very Poor Atitude
When i checked in. I was asked for my credit card so they could take a pre-authorisation of $100 which is standard. But then i was asked to also write out all my credit card details on a form including the 3 digit number on the back of the card. I asked why i had to do this when they already had swiped my credit card and taken a $100 pre-authorisation. The lady was very rude and said if i do any damage over $100 they need my card details to claim. I said that's not right you now have my details from the swipe you did. She said that's the rules. I said i am worried about the security of my credit card details. She said we shred it after you check out. I then got to my unit and it was very hot. I went to turn on the AC only to discover the remote had no batteries in it. I rang the office and got the same lady who said you will have to come down and get some batteries of us. (it was a 10min drive away with scarce parking). I said why wasn't the room checked for this to which she said with a very rude tone. "Sir, if the last guest didn't tell us there were no batteries in the remote how are we supposed to know?" I said that maybe your cleaners should have a check list. She replied "Do you want batteries or not!" I was quite angry with her attitude so i told her i would fix it myself and hung up. Also the AC filters were filthy and i had to clean them to get it to work properly. I will never stay here again!!!!!!

Disappointed that BBQ gas bottle empty and had to pay exchange (refundable) to have. Should be part of things supplied. Pool very small with photos on line not accurate. 8 adults and full. Many guests on site.

Nice place
Great price for a full apartment. Close to everything if you're driving, wouldn't really walk. Just make sure you bring your own soap, there was none there but towels are supplied.

Nice self contained apartment
Presentation and cleanliness good, good for our young family. Air conditioning works very well. A few things not working (dryer, bedside lamp), no frypan in the kitchen (only saucepans) which made cooking very difficult. More info on the websire would have been helpful like whether linen, tea/coffee, toilet paper, are provided. This info was on a sheet provided at check in but we could have packed these things at home if we knew rather than having to purchase it all after arrival. Some extra pillows would also be good. Location good - halfway between Nelson and shoal bay so with a young family you can't walk to shops but the drive is quick. You can walk to the beach though which was great, and the onsite pool is convenient. Overall a great stay - we would consider returning.

Good Unit in convenient location.
Staff when we picked up our keys were friendly and helpful. The Road numbers don't make a lot of sense, our Navman took us the wrong way, so I had to ring the office, but then no problem. Unit was very clean, bedding comfortable. Bit of a smell in the lift, however that could be proximity to the beach. Plenty of parking spaces. It would have been nice to have basic coffee/tea bags in the units. Location out of the main shopping area but close to the beach. I would stay there again, I felt value for money was good.

Never stay at this place again.
Not happy at all with this place. Most uncomfortable beds, dust everywhere, dirty floors. For the money you pay I shouldn't have to take the big garbage bins out to the street for collection. If I wanted to do this would've stayed home. Never again, do not recommend this place ever.

They charge $20 for late arrival (Mon to Fri after 5pm, Sat after 4Pm, and whole day for Sunday). I booked a 2 bedroom apartment. But there is only 1 bedroom. Another 2 single bed located in a corner of living room without door.

Very disappointed in the cleanliness.
Although when we arrived it was great staff that we dealt with. The room hadn't been cleaned and this was rectified very quickly which was awesome. The general state of the unit was poorly maintained, dripping shower in miniscule bathroom. Bugs and ants invaded overnight. Cushions on lounge and carpets really stained. The verandah area was dirty and unusuable for the children. The foyers and common areas of the complex were dirty. There was a loud party overnight in one of the units. It is clear that the units were built cheaply for holiday rental and that is fine however at the current standard they are not worth the rate for overnight patronage. We would not pay this to stay at that complex again. The staff were fantastic and this is not a reflection on them.

So disappointing from the room to the staff
When we arrive to get our key at winning holidays the staff we're so rude to us , our room was full of sand and dirt in our sheets , there was no toilet paper at all in the bathroom, the lounge was so old that when you sat down to watch some tv it completely sunk in so your actually sitting on the hard frame. We were on the ground floor which I would definately not recommend it was very noisey. Guests above us we're actually yelling to the apartments next door telling them to be quiet it was that loud at 1am. This was so disappointing to us we had one night away together and this was our experience , I've never had this type of bad service or such a negative feedback to say , for $205 a night you expect at least a nice friendly stay. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone , such a shame .

The check-in process was efficient. However, when we got to the apartment we found the floors sandy and dusty. The aircon was also poorly maintained (maybe never) - You could see how much dust had accumulated in the filters and it let out a horrible smell when we turned it on. Hopefully the management can improve the housekeeping of these apartments.

Not a great stay
Bed & shower were clean. Room for four, but only one face washer & 2 wine glasses. No batteries in any remotes. Air com worked well, but when we lifted the cover the filters were putridly dirty. Bathroom was extremely tiny too.

Very quick visit!
We only spent about 40 mins as winning holidays had us in a one bedroom instead of a two bedroom as booked. They organised us a fabulous townhouse and had us in it in no time! Great service! The hotel apartment was noisy as next to lobby and had a cold feel to it. It was a relief to be moved!

Beds were super uncomfortable, no fan or window in bathroom made it extremly stuffy when showering, walls are have little or no sound protection and we could hear everything that the people next to us were saying and the noise that was coming from upstairs when people were walking around was very loud

Average definitely not 4 star
Check in experience fine. No soap shampoo or conditioner in the apartment which I would have thought basic for a 4 star apartment. We were on the ground floor and the area was very noisy. You could hear the conversations of all guests as they came in and out of the building

Modern and clean apartment
The apartment was clean and modern and very comfortable. However, having a Saturday check in time of only 2 hours, 2-4pm is ridiculous. We arrived at 4.20pm and had to pay $20 for someone to give us our key. This is not what I consider good service and this cost should be factored in to the overall cost of a stay here.

The room is clean and kitchen fully equipped with oven. Very good for family easy cooking. However, there was no essentials e.g. Toilet tissue, made it somewhat inconvenience.

BEWARE late check-in fees aren't advertised!!
After driving over 4 hours I was annoyed to find you have to collect keys from down the street. Then to add insult to injury, I was 25 minutes late for check-in & the office was closed so I had to call out security which cost me an additional $20!! Yes, Check-in time was advertised during a specific time but pretty much camouflaged in the email - nowhere does it mention a fee for not being there during that time. NOT HAPPY AT ALL - ripped off.

very disapointing that on arrival i had to drive 2 kms down the oad to collc keys from a estate agent !!, the apartment building was deserted and myself and my young son were the only occupants so i felt very vunrable with having noone on reception. there was no toiletries or hairdyer and only 2 tea bags provided. the aparment its self was nice and clean, the carpark was very dark so when coming back from dinner i felt very uneasyer going into the apartment block

Nice apartments close to the beach
We stayed here one night and thought the location was pretty good! 10 minute walk to the diggers club, 15 minute walk to the little shops in Shoal Bay. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Only downside is the company who maintains this property make you pay extra to collect the key on a Sunday (without telling you this before you book or including it already in the price). They also do not provide soap, which was a little bit crazy. Otherwise the property was maintained, clean and modern. Would stay again for a short stay.

The apartment suited our needs but signage poor and surrounds in need of a tidy up.Nothing supplied.No toiletries/tea coffee/chux,tea towel,dish liquid and only 1 toot roll. I have never stayed anywhere before that this was the case.However,beds very comfy. Oven worked but not the stove top.

The hotel facilities are fine, however I experienced a high level of noise all night as wind whistled past the windows and revved the roof fan to a grinding noise. There are no hotel staff. It is a site managed by a management office.

Great apartments just out of the maddness
A great apartment. No view but significantly less expensive compared to others right in the heart of Shoal Bay. Plenty of room and a proper kitchen so you could take food/drink if you wanted to. No hotel staff - you check-in and out from Winning Holidays in the shops at Shoal Bay

we have stayed here before in an apartment on the first floor and it was much better, this apartment is on the ground floor and was not as great as the first floor. There was a lot of things missing from the apartment in the form of utensils that were available in others eg. cutting board, cutlery. The bathroom really needs a good clean as there was alot of mould on tiles and even glass, the toilet seat needs replacing as it is scratched and black on the underside when it is lifted. We enjoyed our stay in the area and would return even to this apartment as long as these issues are addressed.

Very average
Lounge had terrible stains on it and sunk into a hole when you sat on it. Second bedroom was a terrible layout. One bed sat directly against the wardrobe, the other the door. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone.

Average, overpriced & a bit disappointing
Accommodation was average - overpriced for what it was. Apartment was promoted as 2br but the second bedroom was really just an alcove with 2 single beds (with no windows, no fan or airflow) - definitely not a separate bedroom. Range hood in kitchen was broken & hanging down over cooktop, no fly screens on doors so couldn't leave open at night (insects). Unit was very noisy - noise from corridor outside & other units echoed into unit. Beware that the property manager charges a $30 cash fee if you pick up keys on a public holiday or out of hours - this was not clearly stated on the website before making the booking! Communication about key pickup out of hours was really poor. I wouldn't book this property in future.

Definitely not a favourite
We had to change apartments 3 times upon arrival due to the rooms not being cleaned after the previous guests departed and the keys were not onsite so had to go into the town to pick up. The ladies at the office where we had to check in/pick up the keys were lovely and very apologetic at the mistake and allowed us a free late check out. However the cleanliness of the kitchen and appliances were not great and the spring sticking into my rib while trying to sleep didn't make for a comfortable sleep. I'm generally not one to complain but this accommodation was pretty ordinary and not cheap either.

Advertised as a hotel but no more like an apartment rental. Check-in starts at 2pm and ends at 4pm, quite a short window. To get your keys outisde this window you will have to pay $20 cash to collect them at their office. No toiletries are provided, one roll of TP. Our pilliw cases wereissing the first night. lighting is a bit harsh (white lights) and no decoration effort. Clean and comfortable but a bit overpriced.

Disappointing!
When I booked the "Beachside BBQ" apartment at a twenty dollar premium to the "Bayside" apartment I was expecting to be able to see the beach. Instead the "view" was of a couple of old trucks parked on a bit of waste ground on the other side of the road, no sign of the beach. And to make matters worse it was well out of Shoal Bay, no way you would walk in for breakfast! The apartment itself was a strange layout with the second bedroom really a study at best. The two single beds in there were both against the same wall with one head up to the wardrobe door and the other head up against the balcony door. Unfortunately there were not a lot of options available when I booked this but I wouldn't book this place again. At least the place was clean and we only had to endure the one night!
