Our room had a nice outside patio that was quiet and private. The bar is nice and quiet. The room was exceptionally clean and the hosts were kind and accommodating to us non-French speakers.

Nice stay.

Check-in was very accommodating as we arrived early. They allowed is to drop off our luggage a d then gave us a room key in case we were late getting back to the hotel after touring. The room was nice. Weird “showering” in a bathtub. There was an elevator there unlike one I’ve seen or used before (see photo.) Reception was a little late for our check out but we were still in time for our train.

We very much enjoyed staying at Hotel Victor Hugo. We went to see Mt. Saint Michel for the day, and coming back to the hotel was such a a relaxing treat. We had challenges with arriving to check in, we got there earlier than 4 PM. I highly recommend contacting the property a day ahead of time to make sure someone can be there if you have to drop off your bags before official check in. Otherwise, you would have to wait to check in at 4:00. The rooms were amazing! Very clean and very comfortable. I would recommend having breakfast at the hotel. Not all breakfast places are open during the week, and it was a bit challenging. However, the people of Pontorson are SO friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here, and take the bus or taxi to Mont Saint Michel. Also, stop by the tourism office, they are very helpful as well.

Check-in was great. Everything clearly and efficiently explained. We were even escorted to our room. For an old building, they have a great tiny lift that can carry luggage/one person (without luggage!) to the higher floors (3 stories about ground level). Floors are a bit creaky and some of the steps are uneven. Nevertheless it was quiet at night. Wonderful garden and courtyard. Helpful staff. Good mid-town location with easy parking. Definitely need a car in the area (e.g. if you’re planning a Mont Saint-Michel trip (about 12 minutes drive away). Recommended 🙂

Excellent accueil, hôtel charmant et très confortable, la chambre était très agréable, avec la vue sur le jardin. Nous avons très bien dormi, aucun bruit ne nous a perturbé. Le petit déjeuner était excellent et copieux, dans une salle à manger charmante. Si nous sommes amenés à revenir dans la Manche, à coup sûr nous retiendrons cet hôtel !

Séjour agréable

Nous avons pu résider dans 2 chambres communicantes avec nos enfants, c'est très commode. L'hôtel a beaucoup de cachet, les chambres sont confortables, calmes et bien décorées. On a pu prendre une boisson en terrasse dans le joli jardin à l'arrière. Le personnel est sympathique et efficace. Attention l'ascenseur est étroit, prévu pour une seule personne, mais on peut y mettre sa valise.

For a supposed 5* hotel, the shower in the bathroom was hand held. One bottle of water was provided for two people for 2 nights. The toiletries were sparse and not anywhere near what one would expect for the rating. No air conditioning, no fridge in the room, no coffee/tea making facilities. I asked for ice to have with the water and ...no ice...the machine had broken. Feel like I and my party of guests were seriously misled about this place. This was meant to be the best of our touring holidy. It turned out to be the most expensive and the worst! What on earth warranted this place with a 5* rating? Not sure now I trust expedia.

Very nice property. Staff allows “ independence “ after check in, ie not much presence after check in, but we didn’t need much attention , so no problem.Very quiet and comfortable.
