  • Discover your mountain log cabin getaway with room for everyone! This home is spread out over 3 floors with 5 bedrooms sleeping a total of 14. It is located on a private cul-de-sac in a gated community situated on the New River. Enjoy your own private pond with dock and gazebo, porches on 2 levels overlooking the water. Inside enjoy an open floor plan with a 2 story family room, open concept dining/kitchen with seating for 16. Wrap around porches provide a relaxing atmosphere to rest and recharge. The lower level provides a bunk room, second bedroom with King bed, bathroom and large family/game room with bunkbeds that opens onto lower level porches overlooking the pond. Master is on the main level with new mountain log King bed, private bath and covered porch access overlooking the pond. Upstairs discover 2 oversized King bedrooms with a twin bed and bathroom. Bring your fishing pole to fish in the pond, neighborhood hiking trails, 5 minutes from tube/kayak rentals. Easy driving distance to West Jefferson, Mt. Jefferson, New River state park, Grayson Highlands, and the Creeper trail. Welcome to Running Doe Lodge where you can experience: rest and relaxation, hiking, biking, tubing, kayaking, pond fishing, fly fishing, small town charm, shopping, wineries/breweries, and a great place to make memories.

The entire family had a wonderful time at this beautiful place. The pictures do not do it justice. This was my first time using vrbo and this experience certainly sets the bar extremely high. We appreciate the hosts sharing this amazing home with others.

Check in was easy, because of the keyless entry and communication from our host providing all the information we needed. We loved the wraparound porch with ample deck furniture and outdoor grill. We also enjoyed the fire pit. So nice for sitting around and sharing stories and memories. The kitchen was large and very well stocked. The views were lovely, and we appreciated being in quiet and peaceful surroundings. Great spot, great hosts, plenty of parking too

Home is beautifully decorated and stocked with all items needed. Beds slept very well.Location perfect. As a law enforcement family we have few times where all can come together and unplug as a family. This home exceeded our expectation and we all had a relaxing time.

Perfect for a family getaway

This cabin was absolutely perfect for the whole family, the kids loved fishing in the pond!! We really enjoyed having family game nights and had everything we needed to cook all our meals. I would definitely come back

Everyone loves this lodge.

My entire family was pleased with this lodge. It was spacious, beautifully appointed, well furnished and had a place and more for all of us to sleep. The basement was great for privacy for the kids to get away and for their parents to be close by for sleeping. We loved the decor too.

This is a perfect property for a large group. There are lots of beds and the kitchen has an amazing quantity of dishes and flatwear as well as pots and pans, the house is beautiful with lovely views. The owner is very responsive. There are lots of places to go nearby.

Magical holiday weekend. Beautiful and comfortable home decorated for Christmas. Lovely walking trail, deer, gorgeous views. Short trip to West Jefferson which was like a Hallmark movie. Easy check in. Home is as described, everone said their beds were comfy.

Wonderful cabin

We really enjoyed our stay here. This cabin is very spacious and had even more beds than I thought! There were tons of towels and everything you needed in the kitchen. The porches wrap all the way around and it's just a lovely cabin. The owners are quick with communication. Great experience.

Second Annual Friends Weekend

Our group of 4 families stayed here for a long weekend for the second year in a row and this year was even better than the last. We had kids ranging from 1-7 and everyone had a blast. Our Family Getaway to Celebrate a Birthday

We enjoyed our stay at Running Doe Lodge. The Lodge far exceeded our expectations with the cleanliness of the cabin, comfort of the beds, how well it has been maintained, and the attention to detail that the owners make to be sure the experience at their Lodge is the very best. Annual Mountain Trip

We’ve been coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains for years and this is one of the best cabins we have stayed in. Lots of sleeping areas and beds. Cabin was well stocked and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was beautiful and we enjoyed exploring outside. Game room with pool/ping pong table, foosball table and pac man game was a big hit. Thanks for a great stay! Scenic Wilderness Escape: Serene & Nature-Rich

This place was amazing. It had enough rough for our extended family. The children enjoyed the game room tremendously. We loved the view and everyone having their own room. The place was beautiful for Christmas time. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a place not located in town to pick this house. The WiFi was super helpful because we did not have great service with our phones, but that’s what a vacation is for to get away with minimal distractions. Wildlife was around every night and morning.

Great Cabin Vacation

This cabin is one of a kind. Three floors where each of my two sons had their family and my wife and I on main level. Very clean and accommodating. Nice fish pond where we caught and released many fish. Had nightly fire in fire pit. Took my golf cart and the grandkids enjoyed the evening rides throughout the community seeing many deer. No close neighbors. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing, yet adventurous vacation.

Great cabin!

Super cabin for 3-4 couples and kids. We had 3 couples and the cabin was great. Great layout, amenities and comfort. Plenty of large beds and sitting space. Beautiful meadow next to house to watch wildlife. Diner at the Corner Market nearby was very good. We rode down Creeper Trail one day and hiked up Mt Rogers the next day. Sat by fire in the evenings. Nearby Red Dog Bistro is closed on Monday and Tuesday, so the diner is only place nearby to eat. Well equipped kitchen at the cabin if you want to cook. We’ll be back!

Beautiful home, beautiful location, beautiful memories!

What an amazing vacation for our family! We enjoyed this beautiful home & property so much & can't recommend it enough. It was so spacious, yet so cozy. The home was super clean & just had so many unique touches. Lots of seating in the kitchen & family room. Large bedrooms & bathrooms. Large, well-equipped kitchen (& a grill on the deck!). We enjoyed fishing in the pond, walking the trails, smores at the fire pit, fun competition in the game room, & just hanging out on the porch. Our family enjoyed this home more than any we have ever stayed in & we made so many wonderful memories. Tana was a wonderful host and was so responsive to our questions. Running Doe Lodge will likely be an annual tradition now for our family.

Perfect Highlands Getaway!

Running Doe was an idyllic getaway with easy access to the Virginia Creeper Trail, Grayson Highlands State Park, and the New River! We were able to adventure to these places and also enjoyed the restaurant recommendations. Tana was a wonderful host and provided great communication. The property itself is in a fancy (gated) community with plenty of land and an opportunity to hike. We loved fishing in the pond, sipping coffee on the wrap-around porches, and finding the fairy homes on our walks! Our group included three families and we had the perfect layout with three master bedrooms for adults and the kids claiming the basement rooms and game room. The kitchen is probably the best stocked we’ve ever had at a rental. What a wonderful stay!

Perfect week away from stress of life

We've stayed at this property 5 times now. First 4 times with previous owner and once with new owners. We love being away from normal life stress. This place is extremely remote and in beautiful area. Very happy with the little updates and changes. Hope to visit again. Wish bob (Giant catfish) was still in pond. This is first time we havent seem him. Plenty of fish and turtles in the pond. We spent most of the week relaxing fishing the pond with a competition on who would catch the most.
