""My daughter walked in, went straight to the window, and just stood there. I gave her about thirty seconds before I joined her. El Nido Bay, right there, limestone cliffs in the distance, boats moving across the water. Neither of us said anything for a bit. The location is the thing. Seventy metres to the beach. Five minutes to the tour loading point. Restaurants and shops literally downstairs. After a full day on the water, walking back to your room in five minutes without needing a tuk-tuk is a bigger deal than it sounds. Reception helped us plan four days of island hopping. Not one bad day. He knew which tours had fewer crowds, which guides were worth asking for by name, and he never once pushed us toward the expensive option. That kind of honest advice is rarer than it should be. The rooftop is worth going up for even if you’re not eating. The view of the bay from up there, especially around sunset, is the best free thing the hotel offers. GG the hotel dog usually finds you in the lobby on the way up. She’s very soft and completely unhelpful if you’re trying to be on time for anything. One thing to know: the hotel is on the main street, so it gets noisy at night. Ear plugs help. Ask for a higher floor if you’re a light sleeper.""

""Honestly, as someone who treats eating like a religion, my biggest fear coming to El Nido was checking into a place that slaps “vegan” on the menu and serves you a sad plate of lettuce with nothing to say for itself. H Hotel is not that place. The chickpea omelette eats more like a French crêpe, slightly bitter at the finish, but in an interesting way. I went back for more that evening. Breakfast has real variety too. Over three days I had something different each time: pancakes, the chickpea omelette, yoghurt bowl. The pancakes are genuinely massive, the kind where two people sharing one is not a bad idea, and you’ll still leave full. For dinner I ordered the bang bang tofu. Crispy outside, sweet and spicy sauce, really good. Probably even better shared across a few dishes at the table. One downside: the bathroom is small and nicely designed, but the sliding door angle means water ends up on the floor outside the shower. The hotel does leave a mat there, so they know. I stayed in a sea view room. The balcony with chairs is my favourite thing about it. Early morning the light is still this grey-blue colour, sea and mountains just sitting there quietly. I stayed out longer than I planned. Staff member Sky sorted us a private speedboat for island hopping, just the two of us, not packed onto a boat with thirty strangers. Worth every peso. The massage place next door has a discount for hotel guests. I went twice. The second time I actually needed it."

"The bedside lamp doubles as a phone charger and has a switch so you don’t have to get up to turn it off. Small thing, but I loved it and slept better than I have in a long time. The sea view room faces Bacuit Bay. It’s close to the port, so it’s a sea view but not quite a beach view. The hotel can arrange motorbike rentals and island hopping tours, though there’s no breakfast included. All things considered, Z Garden was the most comfortable place we stayed during our entire El Nido trip."

"Stayed here with my partner for two nights while visiting El Nido. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel has beautiful views, though it’s located at the top of a very steep hill. A shuttle is provided, which is helpful since taxis and tricycles can’t access the property directly. Our only issue was the noise at night. Our room was closest to the road, and we could hear tricycles, barking dogs, and vendor carts. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Overall, a great stay with excellent service and stunning views."

"Amazing place to stay with great view! The food was delicious and service impeccable. Best part was the top notch food presentation. You could tell the person who made it loves their job. Only thing I could suggest to improve would be lighting in the room. At night, even with all the lights on, was not enough while packing my luggage."
