Beautiful Little Cottage
We stayed for 1 week on our honeymoon. The host provided everything we could possibly need to make our stay perfect. Geckos were so entertaining to watch running all over and coquis lulled us to sleep at night. One thing to note: be sure to grab some bug spray, the skeeters are vicious out on the lanai! Overall quite happy with the experience!

Beautiful Pahoa
We loved our three weeks on the Big Island Hawaii. Marylove is a wonderful person and a lovely host. We scoured this side of the island and to us the only drawback was it’s distance. It just made for extra driving. Thank you Marylove!

Great little slice of paradise!
Clean, calm, well equipped with a great hostess! We prefer to be in nature than in the middle of an urban jungle! This is like an oasis in the middle of a tropical island! MaryLove has done a great job in decorating and equipping this little cottage! It's at the back of her house yet completely separate and private! The backyard is all yours and a joy to use with chairs, a swing, a hammock and a bbq! We stayed here for 1 month and had most of our meals there without missing anything in terms of equipment or utensils! One morning the drip coffee machine decided to quit on us. Fortunately there's also a french press, so we didn't miss our morning coffees! I let MaryLove know via text and by the time we came back in the afternoon there was a brand new coffee machine with a stack of coffee filters by the door! She really wants her guest to enjoy the experience and takes pride in her little slice of paradise! Yes you do need a car, but we didn't mind the drive to Pahoa or Hilo and the cottage is well worth the drive! We highly recommend it for short or longer stays! Peaceful and spacious
Location is great for getting away with a short walk to the ocean for sunrise/sunset views. There is a drive into town for grocery/gas etc. but a beautiful area to visit.

Awesome Stay in Tropical Paradise
We had an amazing time staying at Marylove's cottage. It was so peaceful relaxing in the hammock in the evening and you could see so many stars since its a bit far out of town. Everything we could have needed was provided including snorkel equipment and beach chairs. We will be back!!

An oasis in paradise
Even better than advertised, Marlove has created a wonderful space in a beautiful setting. We had to make a special effort to leave and explore the rest of the island. Has all the amenities of home and we enjoyed cooking in the full kitchen. There is no cell phone reception which maybe a concern to some. The wi-fi however is pretty robust. Marylove is very responsive to any requests or concerns. Definitely a 5 star property.

A Lovely Place
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was so nice and the host added so many thoughtful extras. It was a cool experience to be off-grid. The gazebo was so nice to relax in at the end of the day and it’s always great to have access to a washer & dryer. We thoroughly enjoyed the coquis singing at night. I think the biggest advantage of the location is that we probably wouldn’t have driven the Red Road had we stayed elsewhere, and it was lined with amazing scenery!

A fabulous oasis
Mary love has created a fabulous oasis from which to explore the Puna district. The attention to detail was fantastic; everything we thought of needing was thoughtfully provided by our host. We would highly recommend staying here!

Cute cottage stay
We loved this private cottage stay. It had all the amenities of a house and was perfect for what we needed. We were gone from sunrise to sunset just traveling around the island. This was a good location to see the East part of the island. About 1 hour from Volcano National Park and the nearest town was in Pāhoa about 25 minutes away. Everything else is quite a drive but it’s all beautiful.

This was a beautiful place to experience Hawaii for the first time!
This property was absolutely perfect! Beautiful outdoor area to relax in. Dark night sky to stargaze. Close walk to the water. This was our first time to Hawaii and it was just lovely. Plenty of room for the two of us. The meditation labyrinth was very peaceful. Even though the frogs at night are a bit loud, I had no problem falling asleep without ear plugs. There was a large amount of beach gear available to use. Mary was very attentive and so accommodating. When we come back to the big island, we will absolutely be staying at this property! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Relax & renew & in a beautiful and eco-friendly environment.

A fantastic week
The ONLY negative is it's off the beaten path a bit. Now that's out of the way, everything else is fantastic. The place is exactly as pictured; quiet, cozy, beautiful; and has many little touches that let you know you rented from a person and not a company- like band-aids and sunscreen and more than the typical assortment of cooking utensils. We loved the place.

Dream Honeymoon Cottage
Staying here was the highlight of our honeymoon trip to Hawai 'i. The host Ms. Love did an excellent job presenting the cottage and making it feel like a home away from home! The cottage was gorgeous had everything we needed and more! Would come again and would definitely recommend!

Comfortable- convenient location
Mary’s apartment was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. A/C worked well. The neighbourhood was quiet and felt secure. The location in Puna in the southeast was convenient for visiting Volcanoes National Park, and there were some interesting local attractions, including Kahena Black Sand beach. Mary made herself available for travel advice etc. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Fantastic vacation in Paradise!
We had such a wonderful time on our visit! The place was easy to find, very clean, private and beautiful. Mary was wonderful to work with and we had a great chat on the porch one evening. The AC kept the rooms cool, the fridge was cold and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely be staying here again! You can’t go wrong here!

In Heaven
Mary takes pride in making sure you have what you need and is always a quick text away.We love staying where the host is on property as they are so informative to what their area has to offer so you don’t miss out on anything.We do not like tourist attractions, we want to experience life here naturally and Mary Love‘s place was perfect for just that..The outdoor area is totally private with lots of sun for tanning .The neighborhood is quiet, safe feeling even walking at night, and so friendly.We spent 15 nights and walked every where only used our car to check out the warming pools near Isaac Hale park.We walked for miles along the coast line ,dipping into tide pools ,watching the surf and enjoying the peacefulness of this part of the island.The weather was exceptional with mainly sunny skies everyday and a few nights with showers other wise starry nights . We give Mary Love’s place a 5 star rating as it was exactly as in pictures,very clean, private outdoor area, wonderful and comfortable indoor living area including bed.We were able to sit outdoors in the evening sipping wine under a starry skies with few mosquitoes..Mary supplied a large number of books on Hawaii and even a cook book with Hawaian recipes. Loved the fire place for those romantic evenings in door. We highly recommend staying here as Mary Love’s place is 5 star she as a person is a 10! She will always hold a special place in our hearts Aloha

Wonderful stay, perfect host
We stayed for three weeks and we starting to feel right at home. The ohana is private and well equipped for a long stay (we cooked every day), and the back porch is so tranquil and beautiful. Great property close to the sites
My Wife and I stayed here using it as a jumping off point for day trips to the volcano NP and Hilo sites such as waterfalls and botanical gardens. It was a beautiful property well stocked with full kitchen, AC and comfortable furniture. The owner Mary was very nice and helpful with any questions about the area or concerns we had. The area is quiet with great relaxation potential even a nice blacksand beach near by. The NP and Hilo sites were easy travel and only 30-45 minutes away. Which is good considering the size of the island. My wife and I loved the stay especially having our morning coffee on the swing out back. I highly recommend this property.

Very cute place to stay on the East side of Big Island!
This cottage is located at the back of the main house, with access to a private, covered lanai and a beautiful backyard that has a combination of hammock, swing, and patio furniture. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated with local art, furniture & a ukelele! It's also quite spacious with lots of room for luggage, etc. Though there was no A/C, airing out the place by opening all windows/doors was sufficient to cool it down for sleeping (we travelled in early Jan.). Mary Love was thoughtful enough to provide earplugs as coqui frog (and roosters) abatement - they were a godsend for our 1st night! Overall, a cute place to stay on the East side of Big Island!

Perfection
This little cottage has everything you could want and need. It feels immediately comfortable and cozy. I booked this for a mother/daughter trip. We had privacy, and yet with all the thoughtful details left by Marylove, I felt well taken care of. I chose this place partly because other reviewers stressed it's cleanliness. Yes, it is clean and I appreciated that but it's so much more! It's perfect.

Quaint, eclectic spot near lava walk
The space is in a cute neighborhood with beautiful gardens. When we arrived, Mary Love had the place set with Hawaiian music playing and mood lighting complete with crystals! Comfortable couch and daybed to snuggle up on while watching digital cable on rainy days/nights. The outdoor living area is fun to sit in and read or work, with hanging chairs and a hammock. There is an outdoor washing machine and a place to line dry your items, just watch for impending rain, and the humidity will cause your stuff to take longer to dry. Also, be very alert driving around the neighborhood for stoned beach-goers, there are no sidewalks;) Mary Love’s space was a very clean, cozy, and well-appointed guesthouse attached to her main house, appropriate for 1-2 guests. She is a lovely hostess.

Beautiful apt. A bit far from everything. Great host
The apartment is lovely and has everything necessary for an extended stay. It is not a separate cottage but an extension built onto the back if the existing home in a subdivision. It was very private & quiet. We were there 25 days. The host was most gracious and very responsive. The hot water situation and internet access was annoying. They do use solar with backup but after the 3rd time we had to text the host to get hot water it should have been obvious to the host to solve the issue. I kept my east coast attitude at bay. We kept getting kicked off the internet. They admitted they needed a stronger system. Yes, who needs internet while on vacation in Hawaii but there was no mobile service in the area thus we needed internet access to be more reliable. It was the end of the year and we were communicating with accountant, etc. We don't watch TV so the internet was important. The mattress, pillows and bed linens need upgrading thus the 4 vs 5 star. We chose this location because we wanted to be in with the locals. The best part is the proximity to warm water lagoons for swimming, the fabulous lava formations and the Sunday Farmers Mkt but everything else is a 30 plus minute drive. We did not find Pahoa charming so did go to Hilo for provisions, etc. There are also great massage therapists in the area and a wonderful retreat nearby with yoga open to the public for a modest fee. In closing the host was most responsive and lovely to deal with. Just be aware of the quirks of this part of the island

Incredible, peaceful hideaway
I cannot gush enough about how amazing this place is. Located in a gorgeous part of the Puna district, it is tucked away so you feel like you're in your own private little world. Marylove has thought of literally everything you'll need during your stay. The place itself is amazingly beautiful with a magical backyard where you can relax in a hammock under an awning. It's only a short drive into Pahoa or a little further drive from Hilo. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back in the future!

Perfect place for relaxation or exploration.
Great location near Kalapana to visit coastal attractions such as the hot pool, Uncle Robert's, Volcanoes NP & Hilo. Cottage is lovely and well equipped. We had some fun with cribbage at the end of travel days. Large screen TV allows one to enjoy DVDs, or your own media player and content. WIFI is good. Comfy furniture, BBQ, and covered patio. Marylove, the owner, is a welcoming, responsive and gracious host. Recommended.

Beautiful and Peaceful
This was a very charming, peaceful, clean and accommodating place. The hostess was very attentive and responsive when I reach out to her. I only take one star away because the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the location was a bit far from what we wanted to do near the volcano park. It is close to black sand beach and to hike to the volcano fumes but not to the actual park. Even though it was a drive, it was nice to come to a nice relaxing place. The house did had everything we needed to cook. We loved all the books and brochures to help us learn more about the island and the things to do. Overall I thought it was worth to stay here!

Cozy respite in paradise
This vacation rental was exactly what we were looking for! Quiet, secluded, and relaxing - a welcome departure from the time we spent in downtown Kona. The bed was very comfortable, the bedroom spacious, and the kitchen was well outfitted and stocked to meet our cooking needs. We were thrilled with the proximity to the Red Road and Kehena Beach. Pahoa was only a short drive away, with great hole-in-the-wall restaurants and great smoothies at Island Naturals (we recommend the dragonfruit!). We also enjoyed the the great conditions for stargazing and managed to see a few whales during our walks along the coast. Cell service (Sprint) was spotty at best in Seaview, but there's also wi-fi if you simply can't just detach for a while. Finally, Marylove was the consummate host and was always willing to provide expert advice to ensure our adventures in Hawaii would truly be memorable. Would immediately recommend to any interested in unplugging from the daily grind and experiencing Hawaii off the beaten patch.

We loved our stay
We loved our time at Kalapana Seaview. Marylove was a wonderful host, telling us where to find great snorkeling and other activities. We went to the tidal pools and champagne baths, as well as the Kalampana market and black sand beach. We also visited Pahoa town, which was the least best part of the trip. You could do a day trip to the Volcano Park easily from this location; however, we visited that on the way. Hilo town is only 45 minutes away. The facility was great, with a unique bed that was both comfortable and a beautiful work of art. Although there are other house nearby, we felt like we had privacy outside. There was plenty of space and all the comforts of home. I'd highly recommend it. Future guests will be able to walk the labyrinth that was under construction while we were there.

Very nice accommodation.
Furnishings were excellent, the kitchen well equipped, and wonderful water from the tap. Marylove is to be commended on her taste and hospitality.
