This is really one of the most beautiful properties you are likely to come across and it’s well maintained. It’s very quiet and peaceful around Oyster Pond and (as others have noted), there’s a wonderful small grocery store/patisserie/coffee spot about 1.5 km away (surprisingly, they were open Xmas/New Years Days). For less expensive groceries/drinking water, we tended to go to the larger stores in Philipsburg and Marigot. We travel with our disabled 21 year old son, so we typically cook for ourselves each night, bringing some more expensive items from home and buying anything else from the grocery stores. The kitchen here is incredibly well equipped and made food prep very easy. Laundry facilities are also great. The beds and living area are comfortable, the AC works well (we used it only at night), and the house is an easy drive to several great beaches. Things are quite busy and crowded during the Xmas/New Years holidays, but this wasn’t surprising for this time of year. The pool and large deck area were a wonderful bonus for us and we made good use of them each day in the morning and afternoon after returning from the beach. It was lovely to be able to eat meals out there; the view is spectacular and the breeze coming off the water is so pleasant. Finally, Melanie and Patrick are wonderful, responsive hosts. We didn’t have very many questions but received answers/help immediately upon asking. We highly recommend this property and would happily return if we were to return.

Totally recommend Carpe Diem

After deciding not to have a 70th birthday celebration this year with family and friends. I decided to rent a place in Saint Martin for myself and my daughter and her family. Perfect Choice!! Pictures doesn't show enough about this place. It is a 5 star plus. The view is outstanding the location is perfect, if you like to venture out to various restaurants and beaches. And the Host immediately response when we had questions. After, renting for the past 5 years in various locations this was the best. I planned to rent this place again next year.

Great island escape

Beautiful house and great view. Better in person than in pictures. Kitchen very well stocked. We stayed with three kids ages 3-9 and it was a great spot. A handful of great restaurants very close. Two small markets for essentials near by. Host gave great suggestions and was very responsive! Would come again.

Absolutely beautiful vacation home on Oyster Pond

This home is even more beautiful in person than in pictures. We particularly liked the very functional outdoor space and large swimming pool. 3 bedrooms each with their own bathroom and a shared half bath was perfect for our family. The kitchen was very well stocked! Please be aware the driveway is very steep, so select your rental vehicle accordingly. Thank you Melanie for sharing this beautiful property with us.

Oyster Pond

Beautiful View and Relaxing

This was a relaxing vacation for myself and my adult children. The house and pool were fantastic with a beautiful view. We found ourselves just wanting to relax at the pool to swim, read and enjoy the view. Such a friendly place.

First time at this property - it did not disappoint. This was our first time back in St Martin since the 2017 hurricane. We loved every minute of our 10 day stay. The villa was clean, well appointed (everything you need if you’re cooking). The property manager (Maryse) met us on arrival to provide keys, briefing etc. she was always available to answer any questions :) I would recommend this villa

Luxurious perch atop Oyster Bay

Patrick and Mélanie are truly wonderful hosts and people. They made us feel welcome and spent just the right amount of time showing us all of the features of the house. They really are dear people. The house is spectacular. From its private perch atop the hillside overlooking Oyster Bay, its spacious and luxurious layout to its proximity to fine stores and restaurants. From this location you are able to take a short walk to a fine French pastry shop, which also doubles as a wonderful grocery store and a morning coffee shop. In addition, you can walk to three different top notch restaurants, two French and one Italian. Dawn Beach is also close by with its crystal clear turquoise water and warm welcoming sand. You really don’t need to go far to have a wonderful time, or just stay at home and lounge on the big and wide patio deck, facing the ocean and cool off in the beautiful pool. On those days when you don’t go out to eat, the kitchen in the house is fully equipped and modern. Everything you need to cook and prepare wonderful gourmet meals is available. You are a short drive away from great French supermarkets like Leader Price or Carrefour. Everything about this rental was a 10! We hope to come back to stay at Mélanie and Patrick’s property again.

Magnificent Oyster Pond Marina Views

We were exceptionally pleased with the property. The views of the Oyster Pond Marina are stunning. Sunrises from the patio area were gorgeous! The entire check in and check out process was very easy. The property manager met us at the house and walked us through everything. The owners stopped by to meet us halfway through our stay to verify that everything was going well. We found that to be a very nice touch. They even offered some suggestions for dinners in the local area. The house is very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room, three bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and laundry area. The outside patio has both covered and open areas. There was ample seating outside for eating, social gathering, and pool lounging. We're very much looking forward to staying there again!

Amazing

This is the second time we have stayed at this villa. The owners and host Maryse are very accommodating and answer any questions quickly. It is decorated beautifully and the pool and view are amazing! We were here 2 weeks with our kids and parents and had plenty of room. We didn’t even leave the house a few days. It’s in oyster pond which is our favorite part of the island to stay on. Not sure we will ever stay anywhere else but this villa!

Seize the day!

Beautiful experience overall from booking to our correspondence to our stay. Very accurate description. Wonderful location. Booking a car when you get here is a must due to the location of the property in the hills. Maryse the property manager is very helpful with that. Fabulous pool overlooking Oyster Pond. Fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Patrick and Mélanie (property owners) were always available and responded quickly with any questions we had. We would highly recommend this property

Wonderful home with wonderful views!

Carpe Diem was perfectly suited for our family of four. The upper level gave our 2 young adult kids their own rooms along with bathrooms while we thoroughly enjoyed having the master suite on the main level with walk out to the pool deck. The views from the deck were lovely and watching the sun come up was a treat. Although there are some dining establishments in the near vicinity...our favourite was Big Fish (highly recommend) at the Oyster Pond resort which was a 10 min walk, having a car is essential to visit any of the nice beaches as the ones near Oyster Pond are less than desirable. During our stay there was daytime construction going on next door, with a new build going up, so heading off to explore the beaches during the day was a good alternative. Melanie and property managers Cathy and Maryse were all lovely and accommodating and all communications were very efficient. We would definitely recommend this beautiful home and hope to return at some point in the future!

Incredible experience!

A couple friends and I stayed at Patrick and Melanie's villa for 3 weeks and we had really a perfect experience. The home and the views are exactly as pictured/described. If something went wrong (which wasn't common), the property manager or the owners themselves were extremely responsive. The location is near a bunch of amenities but is tucked enough away from the hustle around us. They did recommend we have a rental car which was a great suggestion as we used it often but nothing is ever too far...Phillipsburg a 15 minute drive, Grand Case 20. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more!

The view is incredible. The 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms were really handy. The pool is a must have.

In a beautiful location overlooking Oyster Pond. A bit of construction going on as there is still rebuilding going on from the hurricane 5 years ago. Nothing so much to bother us. From this property everything is only a max of 20 minutes away.

Gorgeous view

We have been going to the island for many years and stayed at many villas. This one is hard to beat! The house is spacious enough for a family. We had 4 adults and 2 kids. The pool was wonderful and the views are spectacular! Will definitely be staying here again soon. Maryse was available whenever we needed her and the check in and out process was extremely easy.

Winter getaway

After 2 LONG years, we finally completed our dream vacation. This is a beautiful home with amazing views. The renovations were great and the pool was perfect to relax in after a hard day at the beach. Although, we did have to sweep the floors and wash the counters, plus sand in the shower, was not the best, first impression. Overall, would not hesitate to stay here again. Todd M

Reflection and Healing

This property is as shown on the site with some upgrades (furniture, pool, patio, etc.). The view is breathtaking. Hurricane damaged marina is still noticeable, but it does not deter from the lovely view of the bay, St. Bart's in the distance, or the boats docking in the bay. We had very responsive contact with the owners. We had to reschedule due to the Covid pandemic and they were able to work with us to rebook. The location is LITERALLY less than a mile from the french border. This made it very easy to tour the french side of the island. We took one-half day and drove around the whole island. There are many places to eat close by as well as a grocery. We have rented homes all over the world, and especially in the carribean. We wished we would have known about the grocery store close to the house on the french side before arriving. We could have purchased food for a couple of days then went to the major supermarket later. This was a very relaxing place. What the owners did not know was that we had lost our son 6 weeks before this trip. So, this became a place of healing and reflection for us. Thank You. You can not go wrong renting this property.

It was a very beautiful house with amazing view, in a quiet area, but close to many beautiful beaches and good restaurants. The house itself had a lot of space for our family of 6. It has a lot of light and is tastefully decorated. We had great time and will definitely return when we decide to come back to the island.

we just back from a 2 weeks stay. this villa is well protected inside a gated community. The inside of the villa is spotless ,and well taking care off. some new furnitures, in and out. kitchen has every thing for 6 people. the view from the master bedroom ,and the large deck , on the ocean is just amazing. the night no noises around ,very quiet.Just the stars. The manager is very helpfull for every details on any subject on the island. definitively need of a car to go around. No signs on the roads, and the maps are very simple the beaches are very nice with some very busies ,and other pretty empty. I will come back again ,in the same villa, every thing was perfect.

Laid back and easygoing

Carpe Diem is perfect for a family or group looking for a low-key relaxing vacation. The house is very well laid out with great access to the extensive terrace which runs the full width of the property and includes a new swimming pool. There are multiple areas to hang out and the new patio furniture is very comfortable. There is a small food market and a couple of restaurants 5 minutes away (more re-opening all the time including the Westin at Dawn Beach). The Carrefour supermarket in Phillisburg (15 mins) is huge and has everything. Cooking in the kitchen was easy, there are lots of utensils, pots and pans, and enough crockery and cutlery for a large group. We ate at the main dining table a few times but mostly outdoors looking at the sun/moonlight reflecting on the sea. There was no loud music or late night noise so it's a perfect location for star gazing and a peaceful night's sleep. A hire car is essential and we had some great day trips to Grande Case and Phillibsburg (checkout the Holland House hotel for great sunset cocktails and food). We also took the high speed ferry to St Barths - it is expensive but well worth it. A couple of things to note, especially since the island is still recovering from hurricane damage: the local roads can be a little rough, and the view from the property does look out over the damaged marina of Oyster Pond but this didn't detract from the wonderful panoramic views of St Barths and the ocean beyond the headland (plus tourism helps the rebuilding effort). The satellite TV has mostly French channels. There is no railing separating the terrace from the drop to the lower garden level so I don't believe the property is suitable for young children. Overall we (family of 4 with 2 older daughters) had a very relaxing and enjoyable week at Carpe Diem.

Carpe Diem Villa

Overall, our stay at the Carpe Diem Villa was excellent. We were the first guests following a major renovation of the property, which only improved upon the features described on the VRBO site. There were some minor hiccups in the beginning with post-renovation pick-ups and communication, but these were dealt with swiftly by the property manager (Maryce). The new swimming pool is exceptional and offers unique views of Oyster Pond throughout the day and evening. The accommodations were top-notch...clean, well designed, furnished with everything needed for a comfortable stay, and with just the right amount of privacy for a relaxing and invigorating vacation. We would not hesitate to select Carpe Diem again when returning to the island.
