This quintessential Maine cottage has been in the family for generations. It is located on the peninsula off Hendrickson Point offering semi private accommodations and wonderful views, but also located very close to restaurants, the General Store, Owls Head Lighthouse and Transportation Museum and several sandy beaches, if you are looking to explore.
The wrap around deck and screened-in porch offer wonderful views of Mussel Ridge channel and Monroe, Sheep Island and Vinalhaven in the distance. Both Sheep and Monroe are preserved by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust and great opportunities to explore untouched islands. Monroe has walking paths to explore if you kayak over to it. However, you can enjoy perfect a cup of coffee, cocktails or a lobster feast at night never leaving the deck and screened porch as well.
Once inside the cottage, there is a large living room with fireplace to your left and to the right is another sitting area with picture window to enjoy the view. There is a bedroom with a queen and TV, a half bath inside the laundry room and then the kitchen on the other side of the house.
Up the stairs, you will find a full shared bathroom that has a soaking tub and separate stall shower. There are three bedrooms: A full bedroom, one with two twins and then a large master king bedroom with an oceanview.
The bunk house is behind the house and away from the water located on the back side of the garage. It is a fun place where kids could play games, read a book and feel like they have their own space while the adults relax on the covered porch.
Owls Head is a popular destination for Maine visitors and seasonal residents. With many beaches to choose from, the proximity to Rockland and Thomaston, and gorgeous views from almost any point on the peninsula, Owls Head remains a desirable location for our guests.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - it is a 1 mile walk to publicly accessible Crescent Beach. Holiday Beach is a sandy beach to the left looking at the water and you could get to that at anytime along the rocky shore or by way of a sandy patch at a lower tide. At low tide a sandy area has been a popular location to find sand dollars, catch baby shrimp, hermit crabs. Two other great area beaches are nearby. The closest is Crockett's Beach, but also Birch Point Beach State Park is within a 5 minute drive of the property. There is only this sandy patch at low tide directly in front of the property, but the nearby beaches are great for kids and that is why we have classified it as being on or in this case - "near" sandy beaches.
