About this property
Your Superior Vacation Destination
Experience the best of Michigan's Upper Peninsula from this stunning 3-bedroom waterfront retreat, uniquely positioned where the Big Iron River flows into Lake Superior. With panoramic views from a sprawling second-story wraparound deck, the Silver City Light House offers front-row seats to one of the most spectacular settings in the Great Lakes region.
The Space
This thoughtfully designed home sleeps 8 guests comfortably across 3 bedrooms and 4 beds, with 1.5 bathrooms. The heart of the home is the main living area that opens onto the magnificent wraparound deck—your private observation platform for freighter watching, sunset viewing, and taking in the endless blue expanse of Lake Superior.
Location Note: The Silver City Light House is conveniently located adjacent to the AmericInn by Wyndham Silver City, with private parking accessed from the hotel lot. This prime location means you're steps away from the hotel's restaurant and amenities while enjoying the privacy and space of your own vacation home. The property does boast a large yard for activies and a private fire pit to finish out the evening.
Your Million-Dollar View
Perched at the convergence of river and lake, you'll enjoy dual water frontage that's rare even in the UP. Watch the Big Iron River wind its way to Superior's shore, catch the evening light dancing across the waves, and witness the ever-changing moods of the world's largest freshwater lake. In the distance, the Porcupine Mountains create a dramatic backdrop to this stunning shoreline setting.
While the home offers a sense of peaceful seclusion with generous distance from foot traffic, guests should note that per Michigan law, the Lake Superior shoreline is public access. Hotel guests and beachgoers may occasionally walk along the beach, though the natural layout provides comfortable separation from the property.

Lighthouse
Lighthouse was a great place. It was clean and in a great location in relation to snowmobile destinations. It does share a parking lot with the AmerInn hotel and parking wasn't ideal. Trucks and trailers were parked in front of the house and I had to park 2 trucks and trailers on the far end of the parking lot. Hopefully this can be addressed for the future. Also....I had emailed and tried calling the property contact on VRBO asking some simple questions for about a week and no correspondence. The only correspondence I received was an hour before checkin to tell me how to do so. Which I assumed would've been sooner. I was worried I didn't have place to stay all the way until check-in
This house was perfect for our two-generation family vacation. Wrap-around deck was great for viewing both the sunrise and sunset. Large dining table comfortably fit the whole family - for card games at night. The shoreline was really close and everyone loved skipping rocks. We stayed 5 nights.

Beautiful set up, but not really secluded. You do have a private balcony, but the Inn is in the same parking lot, so it is quite a bit crowded. The views and private space in the lighthouse was great. It was nice to be able to cook and chill after a long day of hiking. Perfect are for fishing, relaxing and hiking. There were a lot of lady bugs that needed to be taken care of, but apparently came with the aesthetic of the house. Not the best spot for yooperlites or cool rocks, but plenty of beauty nonetheless.
Everything was as described. Very comfortable. There were plenty of fans available for hotter July afternoons. A couple of screens had holes but we just kept those windows closed. Close proximity to hotel restaurant and bar. Everyone was exceptionally nice around town!

The location and views are outstanding! The bedding had blood stains like previous reviews noted. The shower head is super low in the shower. Some of the windows don't open and with only a few fans it made it difficult to circulate air to cool down the place. The large bedroom on the lower level had a smell to it. Housekeeping placed an air freshener in the room but it didn't completely mask the odor. There are lots of people along the shore near this property but only one time did I have to tell someone it was private property and they promptly moved to the shoreline. With some attention and updates this property could be AMAZING!

Perfect Porcupine Mt. home base
Beautiful views of Lake Superior from the kitchen and living room. Lots of room for family of 5 with teenagers to spread out. I had read reviews about lots of guests from the nearby motel walking the grounds and even being on the deck. We were there over the 4th of July weekend and didn’t have any issues at all. I actually felt upon arrival that the light house was set back towards the lake and away from the motel more than I was expecting. Beds comfortable. Shower was great. Kitchen very adequate. Tv and WI-FI were great. Perfect location 5 minutes from Entrance to Porcupine mt. Would love to come again though I feel the price is rather steep. Get groceries before arriving. Can’t even buy milk without driving to Ontonagon.
If you’re interested in Lake Superior sunrises or sunsets this is the place for you! The views were unbelievable.
We stayed here as a family of 6 and everyone had a great time! We enjoyed swimming in the lake and throwing rocks in the river. The only downside is I believe the house is owned by the Americinn behind it. I didn’t realize we would be on the hotel property so there were hotel guests walking right in front of our place (front yard) to go to the water and talk on the phone. Based off the listing I thought it would be more secluded.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone that is looking to visit the Porcupine Mountains /Lake of the Clouds. We had the best time!!
Great Location: We loved the house, we loved the location right on a point on Lake Superior. Beautiful sunsets!
Poor Location: Also next to a hotel. Hotel guest made them selves at home on the property; in the backyard, they used the picnic table, came up on the deck, one person even tried to come inside the house thought it was a museum. During our three days at the house had to deal with 20-30 people each day wandering onto the property. My wife and daughter were startled one morning when they went out on the deck to have a cup of coffee only to be greater by 4 strangers setting in the chairs on the deck! I would pick a more private location on our next trip and recommend the owner put up a private property sign.

Nice house, but needs some finishing touches.
The house is very nice and clean. The large living room was set up really nice with plenty of places to sit for a large group. Check-in process was non-existent… no communication from management. By reading reviews, we figured out to go to the hotel next door and ask for keys. There is no grill and no fire pit on the property. Managed by the hotel next door, so they expected us to use the hotel’s grill, fire pit and the outdoor furniture. This was not convenient, since we paid for a private property, but had to share with hotel guests. The only outdoor furniture on the property is a picnic table in the backyard. Nice balcony to watch the sunset from, but no chairs. The upstairs bedroom window faces the hotel’s parking lot w/ bright lights, but no blackout curtains. They have a smoke & CO alarm. The kitchen was somewhat stocked. Plenty of cups, glasses and silverware, but not enough plates for even 6 people. Needed to go to the hotel to get more. No big knives. Had to get creative when cutting a watermelon w/a small knife. Few small pans & pots, & some cooking utensils, but no tongs. No grilling utensils. No extra paper towel. The bathrooms were stocked w/ toilet paper, soap & shampoo. Plenty of towels, although some blood stained. Could not get TV to work & clocks didn't work. Had to ask hotel for wifi info. Overall the house is nice & cozy, just missing a few finishing touches to make it a perfect vacation place.
We had a difficult time getting the TV’s to work. I know why is it necessary to have TV accessible. We wanted ti watch college football. The American Inn came over and changed the cable that was not connected to the correct input from the previous renters?
