Our family of 12 (3 generations, 6 adults, 6 children 14 - 3) had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at Victorian Orchard. We found the recent reviews to be very accurate in describing the uniqueness, charm and completeness of all provisions, and so I will not repeat all its marvelous features. We also used the linen service and would recommend it if you are a large group. When we arrived, the lights were on, the house was warm and there were seasonal decorations everywhere. The house has been lived in for generations and shows that by all the extras that rental houses never have (e.g., a piano, boxes of Legos, bread maker, etc.). We filled the house, but never seemed cramped because of all the space. The kids loved the library and used it as their play room so they were close but away from adult conversations; there are lots of books and old magazines there, and two with allergies had to take their meds but they loved playing there. I used the kitchen facilities extensively (pies, bread, rolls, turkey, ham, etc.) and found it to be very easy to use and amazingly complete!
We enjoyed the 70 acre grounds extensively, and this really makes Victorian Orchard unique. We brought a go-cart and enjoyed driving it on the trails up to the upper fire pit. With the owners permission we brought guns and they guys enjoyed target shooting. Then there was football, field hockey, frisbee, soccer and the convenient fire pit near the house. We also went to Fallingwater and Ohiopyle state park; there is so much more to do on future visits! We even made a trip to the Uniontown ER for strep throat. All of our interactions in the community were very pleasant and lived up to the friendliness of the Laurel Highlands area. The manager David and owners Paul and Mary Lou were friendly, responsive and very helpful.
In conclusion, Victorian Orchard was the best rental house that our family has rented for family gatherings and we certainly are looking forward to coming back in all seasons, especially when it is warm and can use the pool!
