All aspects of arranging and executing this trip were smooth. House and location were just as expected. I appreciate the pet-friendliness and the providing of sheets, towels and lots of beach equipment. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the covered porch, watching the waves and the pelicans.

Not recommended...

We stayed for 5 days. The deck is in poor condition (pealing paint and nails popping up) and paint is pealing from the deck overhang. On the second day, the electronic lock was low on batteries and we couldn't enter the house. A local realtor helped us as the owner was unresponsive. We found cockroachs in the kitchen, you'll find insect spray in the kitchen cabinet. The upstairs sink needed to be unclogged (which I had to do) and 2 bathroom door handles needed to be tightened. The furniture is old and worn and needs to be covered to sit on. The location is great and we had a great time, but this was not an exceptional rental that it was advertised to be. The photos are enhanced and don't reflect reality.

Awesome Girls Trip

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and it won't be our last. Everything was great. We wanted to stay beach front so we could have easy access to the beach to build a fire on the beach. This is a great place to stay with a group of friends. We had 9 people and everyone had their own bed. Very clean and a great location.

Great weekend with friends

2nd time we have stayed at Outrigger. Once in May & now in December. It is a perfect place for a group of friends or large family. It’s nicely remodeled and very clean. Showers are great! We got a permit & built a fire on the beach. It’s perfect in the summer or winter. We will definitely be back.

This Was A Great Beach House

Our family of 5 adults, and our 3 small pets, had a wonderful time at this beach house. It was roomy and comfortable, along with two good sized updated hall bathrooms. The kitchen was equipped with plenty of pots and pans, and dishes. Watching the sunrise, or sunset, from the porch was amazing! Just a house away to walk to the beach access. If you do have dogs, be careful of walking them on the roadside, because of sand spurs. I had to pull out a few in my dachshund's paws and then they refuse to walk anymore! Also, short drives to good seafood restaurants! Overall, we had a wonderful time, and Bill, our host, was responsive to our messages.

Definitely not worth the price

Overall impression is that it is a very small house with many problems and definitely not worth the rate being charged. Too many issues to list here but we did let the owner know - unfortunately he did not respond to our feedback.

Oak Island

It was a fantastic weekend and the house served as the perfect home base on the beach for our crew in addition to hosting several meals as well. Bill, our host, went above and beyond by providing us with a new hair dryer within an hour of our notification that we couldn’t find one in the house.

Oak Island in Winter

Love Oak Island in the winter. It is so relaxing. This house was great for us to get together with family and friends. Good local seafood and amazing views. Host was very responsive and accommodating.

Beautiful view!

Loved this older but quaint little house! It was so nice to sit on the porch and watch/ listen to the waves. Such a beautiful view right on the beach. Looking forward to staying there again.

Great location

Our family stayed the first week of June. Great location and we enjoyed the porch and views out of the downstairs windows. Pretty accommodations and rooms. Fantastic downstairs bathroom. There is a king upstairs with a tiny bathroom, so beware, ha! The rooms were spacious. With 6 adults and 4 children, we went through the glasses and forks pretty quickly. Might want to bring plasticware to help fill in the gaps. Lots of beach supplies in the basement. Lots of stairs by the way. The weather was on the cool side, but we enjoyed the views as much as anything. We had no issues and the owner was very responsive.

Great place to stay

Superbly decorated and warm inviting beach home!

The property owner, Bill, was very responsive and caring about our stay and comfort during our stay. The house was beautiful inside and out, comfortable and inviting. We had an excellent stay.

Great Family Location!

We all loved staying here! The best part was the beach - being able to sit out on the porch and watch the waves and feel the breeze and being only one house down from beach access over the dunes. The house is beautiful and comfortable. We hope to be able to come back!

Relaxing

Great location with an amazing view. Wonderful front porch. Easy access to the beach just one house over. A couple glitches during our stay but owner quickly responded and plumbing issue repaired while we were there.

Family Vacay/Wedding/Birthday

A perfect house and location for a family vacation that included a beach wedding and a 6 year old’s birthday!! My husband retired this year so we decided to take a family trip with our daughters, sons-in-law and 6 grandkids! Our oldest and her guy tied the knot and made their blended family official! The middle grandson turned 6 the next day! The weather was great with random afternoon thunderstorms and some AMAZING nighttime light shows over the ocean! We took a day to go to the NC Aquarium near Fort Fisher - the kiddos loved it and it gave those with some sunburn a respite from the sun ☀️ We also had a sea turtle come ashore directly in front of the house, perfect tracks for some cool pics, but the turtle squad discovered it was a “false crawl” - no eggs. It’s apparently somewhat common. But it’s definitely turtle egg-laying season! Bill could not have been easier to deal with either! We use VRBO often and have yet to have any trouble - Bill did not disappoint!! I can not recommend this house highly enough - it’s just a great place for a wonderful time ♥️

Amazing beachfront property!!

Bill is an incredible host and this is an incredible property overlooking the ocean. The house is recently remodeled and is in a great area!!! We absolutely loved the spacious home and the opportunity this house gave us to enjoy the beach with some amazing friends and family!!!! Thank you Bill for sharing this incredible property with us!!
