"AVOID!!! Very disappointing stay. I rarely write reviews but this one is extremely warranted. Front desk employee was rude and not friendly/welcoming at check in and the cleaning crew had no sense of privacy and would not give us any space, they knocked on the door several times prior to check out even though the “privacy please” tag was on the door. The wooden stairs to the beach is the one good thing about this property and even that is in TERRIBLE shape, it is completely covered in sand (looks nothing like the picture provided in the photos of the property) and seems like it has not been maintained in over a decade. Do not be fooled like I was, save money and take your business elsewhere."

"Our room was more dusty than any hotel room I have ever been in...literal dust balls on the night stand, and the remote was covered in dust so that was a big disappointment. My comforter also had a tear on top of it. The Firetender restaurant was very nice and had great pizza and very friendly staff. Front desk staff was very night as well. The hotel is a hotel/motel so I think that may be important for some people to know...the bottom floor rooms face out to the parking lot. The location was within walking distance to downtown Manteo which was definitely a nice perk. "

"We had a fantastic stay in Manteo at Serene Sound Retreat. The property was well maintained and very clean. The dock had amazing views of the sound and we really enjoyed watching the sunset each night. The kitchen was amazing and had emerging needed for a gourmet meal. Super close to downtown Manteo. We highly recommend. "

Floating In Paradise On The Azul Project

"Everything was so lovely on the Azul Project! Our first night was a bit rough because there was a gale warning and the wind/water was a lot for these landlubbers, but once the weather settled down and the water was calm, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the boat. It was incredibly relaxing; communication with our host was fabulous; the area felt safe and was super easy to navigate. Thank you to Gia for hosting us; we'll be sure to recommend and will be back! "
