The thermostat only controlled the air conditioner. Heating was with electric fireplaces which were difficult to control. Clearly a summer destination and we were there in October. Would not return.

Manage your expectations
We were in town to attend a funeral. It is a very quaint inn and was perfect for what we needed during our selection process. It does not fit within the typical service of a normal hotel. We were going to arrive late past the time of the inn closing at 9pm. Megan graciously reached out to make sure we knew how to access our room as there was no one on site. Unfortunately the room was dirty with dead bugs on the window sill. There was no air/heat in the room and made for an uncomfortable night of sleep. There was a portable ac cooler in the room however not set for proper operation. Needed some amenities and didn’t know how to get them as no one was on site- ex. Tissues, extra washcloth as our room only had one.

The staff and management were helpful and responsive. The building is in need of some updating, but staff worked very hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

The rooms and property are more dated than the photos suggest, but the stay was comfortable enough. The desk is unmanned, though they do leave cell numbers for the on-call staff which was effective. You can't really come and go as you please after a certain time, as they lock the front doors, but there really isn't much to do in the area after dark anyway. The room was tidy, mattress was old and springy but the bedding was very fresh. Coffee available in the lobby and in room, with a couple cute restaurants nearby for breakfast. I'd stay here again in a pinch.

What was that?
During my stay, I could tell right away the "Resort" was run by pure chaos. The receptionist had issues with Expedia but tried to make those issues my issues. There are notes taped to the door when you walk in as to how to check in because employees don't work there often. The decor throughout the "resort" is all from the 80s. It is not all that clean. There is also a musty feel to the whole place. All in all it was a truly odd stay. You'll see what I mean when you stay here.

There's no front office manager but we call and they were there two minutes after. Check-in was easy. We got an upgrade. Its a cozy hotel with few amenities but cozy. Restaurant was not so bad. Expensive but at least in the hotel. We didint like the neighborhood particularly at night but it was ok for one night.

‘Held together by duct tape’. There are too many things wrong to list here, but the place is falling apart right before your eyes. Dirty floors. Stained carpets. Broken ‘stuff’. The list is just too long. I would highly recommend staying as far as you can from this place. The pictures used here are from ‘earlier days’ to say the least. They are not accurate and you are doing yourself a favor by not booking here.

Decent hotel with potential, but dirty
This hotel has such potential, the rooms and bathrooms were spacious. However, our bathroom was definitely not cleaned before we arrived. There was a partial bar of soap and tin foil on the shower floor, and long black hairs all over the bathroom floor, in the tub, and in the shower. If we were there longer than one night I would have complained, except there was nobody at the front desk when we tried to check out a little past 9am. The location is nice during the day, but if arriving at night it can be a little sketchy with a bar across the street and another in the same building where people are hanging around outside.

The Phoenix Inn has great potential as a luxury resort destination. We stayed in an executive suite for an extremely modest price that had a large jacuzzi tub for two, separate shower, two sinks and a separate living room with fireplace. We greatly enjoyed our stay and the staff was extremely polite, courteous and helpful. In addition, you have ready access to the Adirondacks where one is never without something to do. Lake George - if you like carnival atmospheres, is a stone's through away but so is Hudson River rafting, hikes of unparalleled beauty, and, if you own your own paddle craft, great boating. See Thirteenth Lake one of the Adirondack's gems. However, the property is under new management that is struggling to make necessary repairs and rejuvenate, the already beautiful, building. They have a ways to go but the ups far outweighed the downs and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone as long as you have patience and understand the situation. When in the Adirondacks one must remember that businesses are small time, or family run operations. Cut the staff slack and they'll repay the courtesy a hundred times. Bon voyage!

Room was spacious and clean. Property was quaint and well kept. Enjoyed a large jetted tub in my room. Overall I was quite pleased with my accommodation and the price for such was quite fair.
