L'Art des amis (the art of friends) is a beautiful one-bedroom penthouse apartment on the 6th floor (7th U.S.) with a large south-facing terrace of a beautiful Art Deco building in the Musicians Quarter in central Nice, 5 blocks off the beach, directly behind the Negresco Hotel. Step into the antique cage elevator and be swept up to a romantic vacation escape you will never forget! Facing south, warm sunlight floods the apartment from morning till sunset. French doors in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom open onto balconies where you will enjoy the breezes and rooftop views towards the sea. (That French flag you see fluttering in the distance tops the Negresco.) The art of personal friends is featured throughout.

Remodeled to bring it closer in feeling to the architecture of the Art Deco period, the apartment features wood flooring in the living room and bedrooms and period tile set in the entry and kitchen. Step through the French door onto to balcony and enjoy petit déjeuner in the sun at your café table for two. Dishes, glassware, flatware, coffee makers, and kitchen utensils are all provided should you choose to try your hand at Niçois cooking. The living room features a black George Nelson-inspired couch for 3 and a comfortable modern 'lipstick' armchair. Flat screen TV, cable television, and WiFi provided. The glass coffee table design is by Isamu Noguchi (1948), end tables by Eileen Gray (1927), and glove table lamp by Wilhem Wagenfeld (1924.)

This is an absolutely superb apartment, super-clean, well laid out and and exactly as shown in the photos. Fantastic location to get around Nice and it's environs. The (many) recommendations from the hosts for restaurants and shops etc were really helpful. We would love to have the opportunity to stay here again whenever we return to Nice

Yes the key pick up was a little stressful, but everything else about Frank and Don’s beautiful apartment was perfect! The Art work is so interesting and tasteful. Plus the surround area is so pleasant for exploring.

This was the second time we've stayed at this property and with good reason. It's provides a comfortable home base for exploring Nice and the Cote d'Azur. And a comfortable place to be if you're spending time indoors. A 10-minute walk to the sea and close to trains, trams and bus stops.

Quiet, convenient location with plenty of bakeries nearby and easy access to the seafront and to a good range of restaurants. Interesting artwork, decor and furniture in the apartment. Photos do not do it justice. Kind and friendly owners who have provided some useful information about places to eat, shop and explore. Great experience, good value and would book again.

Our best experience of holiday rental in Nice having holidayed here many times. The apartment lived up to our expectations and more! Could not fault it in any way. Communication was first class, the position of the property was central to the city and yet it was away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nice. Fantastic apartment clean and spacious. Close to Alsace Lorraine tram. Also just outside the door the 38 bus - a little electric number - will take you to to the port or old town. There are a number if grocery stores nearby and a large Casino left on Gambetta a few blocks towards Promenade Des Anglais. The closer Casino does not open Sundays.

The apartment was wonderful and even better than the pictures. The decor and artwork, every detail was wonderful. Having the terraces was also such a treat and relaxing in the sun reading my book was perfect. The surrounding streets were lovely and a perfect location which was so quiet and felt safe but few minutes walk to supermarkets, tram line, restaurants and fabulous patisseries. In 5-8 mins you were walking along the promenade to central Nice and lits of bars andcrestaurants. Any communication was responded to quickly and key pick up was so easy as well. We loved our stay and would def go back and stay here.

This apartment is extraordinary! It floats above the surroundings with 3 mini terraces to connect with the real world! Please stay here if you come to Nice! What more can I say! Okay a little more although it is a small it is really enormous because of the exposure via tall windows to the outside!

The apartment is spacious for 2 people, laid out in a typically French style. Very clean, tidy and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to self cater if you need to, although there are plenty of restaurants available locally. The nesting seagulls on the roof were extremely noisy in the mornings, but it got us out of bed early! Sara Jane managed the hand over on our early arrival really well.

We spent nine days in this apartment and it was fantastic! All of the rooms are very spacious, and there are lots of closets and shelf space for clothes. The balconies are wonderful and make the rooms seem even larger. The area has lots of great restaurants and boulangeries, and you are only a 15 minute walk to the old town and the Med. Sea. Frankie and Don were very kind and easy to work with. Highly recommended.

We had been to Nice 5 times but this apartment is by far the best accommodation. The bedroom and the living is well decorate and very stylish while still keep the original charm. The kitchen have everything you need for self catering and so attention to details. I love the quality of crockery, plates very nice to use. Nice heatwaves was unbearable at night without the aircon when you going to sleep but I knew it before I booked so I have no complaints. I highly recommend you book this apartment with no doubt.

We had an amazing 11 nights at L'art des Amis, the apartment was spotless and beautifully decorated with some lovely individual art pieces scattered around the rooms. There is no air con in the room, but you don't need it due to the sea breeze coming through. 10 minute walk to the train station and only 15 minutes to the promenade. Restaurants only 10 minute walk too. Would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends and family. Paul and Ellie

The property is tastefully appointed and very well equipped for a long term stay. We stayed here 4 weeks and truly enjoyed the view, the neighborhood, the proximity to everything, and the space itself. It's a 7 minute walk to the beach, 4 minutes to the tram station, and there are plenty of bakeries, supermarkets, and cafes in the area. This was a great home base to explore all of Nice as well as the rest of the Côte d'Azur. We had a couple of small hiccups when we first got there, and although they were issues out of the property owners' control, they were very understanding and responsive. To put it in perspective, we would still not hesitate to give this place a 5/5 and joyfully stay there again!

We very much enjoyed our stay at L'art Des Amis. The apartment was very clean and exceptionally well decorated and appointed especially for a vacation rental. Many little extras were available such as tea, olive oil, soaps and detergent so not need to purchase and cart to the unit even though stores are nearby as are boulangeries for delectable morning croissants. The flat is in a quiet upscale residential area which we much preferred to the more touristy areas in town. The only reason why I was hesitant to give 5 stars was in regard to the check in service. It was a little complicated and unfortunately nothing was open in the area when we arrived with our luggage Saturday afternoon.

Wonderful apartment in a great location in Nice. It was close to the train station (about 10 min) and also close to shops, restaurants, and beach, yet tucked in a nice, quiet part of town, a bit removed from the noisy and crowded tourist areas. Pictures of the unit were true and there was ample space for 3 of us. Bed was comfortable and bathroom/shower worked well. Terraces and large windows were lovely. We rented bikes at a bike shop just down the street(Rivoli), about a 5 min walk and cycled over to the next town, Ville Frenche, which was fantastic. We also rented a car (from the train station) for a day and one night and were able to park overnight in front of the unit for free (free parking 9pm - 9am) which was very convenient since we had an early morning flight. We had arranged to drop the car off at the airport. Wonderful stay in Nice, would definitely recommend to others.

We loved everything about our stay, and definitely plan on returning in the future! The apartment was clean and well maintained, and exactly as it was represented in the photos. The location couldn't have been more perfect. We were able to walk nearly everywhere we wanted to go. For trips that were a little farther than walking distance, the tram station was within a 5 minute walk from the apartment. We took the tram to and from the airport with ease. There were also plenty of restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc within walking distance as well. Communication between both the owners and the property manager was easy and efficient. All questions were answered quickly and the property manager was responsive when we had a minor problem unlocking the door when we arrived at the apartment. We couldn't have been happier with our selection of this property. It had everything we needed - location, views, easy access to public transportation, great kitchen, washer/dryer, and plenty of charm and comfort. Quite simply, we found it to be perfect!

The apartment description and photos are all completely accurate. The apartment is beautiful and decorated in very good taste. It is located at a walking distance from the center of the city, in a quiet neighborhood with high historic and architectural interest, near the Matisse and Chagall museum. We discovered very good downtown restaurants, and enjoyed eating at the apartment. The owners were friendly and helpful when we contacted them, but, living afar, they have entrusted their property to a local rental agency, whose services proved less satisfactory. Even if we had reserved several months earlier, paid in full, and arrived in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday in late October, the managers did not find time to greet us because they had "too many arrivals" scheduled on this day. We had to negotiate a while to have them leave the keys at the car rental agency where we were expected instead of the airport where they usually leave the keys (and this, even if our car rental agency was located much nearer from the apartment than the airport). As they hadn't told us about the electronic key which gave entrance to the building, we had to phone them to know how to get in. The apartment was clean enough, but the cleaning appeared to have been hastily done. The rental instructions were not in plain view but had been put among other things on the lower shelf of a bookcase, where we found them several hours later. All went pretty well for us afterwards, but the managers didn't contact us once during our one week stay to inquire about our needs. We emailed them before leaving to tell them where they could find the keys. In conclusion, we certainly recommend this apartment for its beauty and location, but we strongly suggest that the owners request their managers to improve their customer service. Over many years renting this rental wins the top award. The information provided by the owners was all encompassing. The apartment is in a fantastic location. Every necessity is met within short walking distance, groceries, restaurants, coffee shops, Train, tram, busses, etc... The owner warns there is no air conditioning which may be a factor when temperatures rise above 80°F / 26°C. But, most often there is a breeze through the apartment which allows for a good night's rest. We found this rental to be perfect for our visit to Nice and would not hesitate to rent it again when we return.

My daughter and I spent a wonderful week in Nice and loved the apartment. It is in a beautiful neighborhood with shops and restaurants close by and most everything is within walking distance but the tram is also not far. The apartment is beautifully decorated, is very comfortable and has everything you could need in the kitchen. We went in January and were able to sit on the balcony for breakfast and in the afternoon. It was very hard to leave! I would definitely stay there again.
