"The Shady Lawn Inn is a wonderful place to stay. It's in the heart of Newland, NC, a small town with a cool vibe. Shady Lawn Inn was my home for 10 days because of car trouble. Staff Kara (front desk), Maria (housekeeping) and Ms. Suzzanah (owner) were so gracious and helpful and I felt safe. Room was clean, a bit dark, comfortable bed (king) and the ac cools when needed. Weather was delicious. Waightstills Restaurant steps from my room. Full bar, food variety, try the risoto with chorizo...delish. And a wowing collection of Lego builds made by the other owner Mr. Nathan. The driveway is rough, but hurricane Helene went thru this town hard. Good, kind folks at this place. I was fortunate to land at The Shady Lawn Inn."

"I was very disappointed as when we arrived there was a gate and we had no code to get in! Fortunately there was a person in the community that gave me the cod to get in through the gate. Very disappointed to discover the second bedroom was a ladder from a wall the needed to me moved to get access to upstairs Very expensive for just one night"

"We had a very nice time. Thought the place was as advertised. Would of gave it 5 stars if not for the fire pit area. Steps were very steep and the area around the fire pit was also sloped quite a bit, making it difficult to sit around the pit comfortably. Overall thought it was a good value. "

"The cabin was beautiful with all amenities you’d need. Everything seemed like new…the beds, living room furniture, kitchen was immaculate. The Kitchen was stocked, plenty of towels, games, grill, and the hot tub was a hit. It was very private and peaceful. I would definitely come back. "

"The only problem I encountered was that because I booked third party, they weren't flexible with my request to allow my cousin to check in on my behalf becauseI was running late and she needed to get dressed before the wedding. I had to stop, respond to the email request before she was allowed in the room. She drove over 3 hrs. and I drove over 5 hrs. and had lost 1 hrs. because I was coming from TN."

"This property is set back off the main road up on a hill that is surrounded by a mature hardwood forest. The area is quiet and provides for a very relaxing environment. The house has a lot of well thought out charm and character. It is thoughtfully decorated with various antiques and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are two gas fireplaces and the main fireplace has a mantle that's fashioned from one of the original beams in the house. The kitchen is fantastic with new appliances and a gorgeous copper farmers sink. The upstairs bedroom with the king bed was my favorite. The bed was very comfortable, there was a sitting room and then the bathroom was unbelievable. Two vanities, a beautiful soaking tub, and a really cool shower with 3 different shower heads made it very spa-like. Overall, the property, the hosts, and close proximity to Banner Elk made our stay very memorable. We will be back."

"Very cozy cabin. Had a wonderful time relaxing! The host provided a lot of little extras in the cabin. Enjoyed the front porch for morning coffee, the fireplace during our cool nights and bright sun room for our puzzling. Perfect for our dog too. "
