The Williams family review!!

We stayed here Oct 2007. The location and setting of Il Mulino are idyllic. Its also perfect for days out with Assissi, Sienna, Florence and many other beautiful places within an hours drive. Monterchi Is a lovely village and the local supermarket owner has to be met!! We were given a lovely warm welcome by Paul & Sofia on arrival at Il Mulino. The house is amazing. Beautifully decorated & furnished, clean, spacious and full of authentic character. Weather too cold for trying the pool but my determined children ventured their feet in for a dip!! We had a truly relaxing and enjoyable break and are looking forward to our return visit in August 2008 when I am assured by Paul that warmer weather has been booked for us!! I would recommend this property to anybody!

A small piece of tranquility

I have now spent two visits at Il Mulino in 2007 and 2008. Both occasions were wonderful, staying in the beautiful setting of an old mill - I never tired of looking at the amazing beams which form such a large part of the charater and charm of the building. Everything you might need is on hand should you want to cater for yourself. As an avid cook I was able to make some delicious dishes and didn't find my self lacking in facilities or utensils. For this occasions we wanted to dine out there are so many fantastic restaurants in the area you are spoilt for choice. The whole area around Anghiari/Monterchi/Sansepolcro is very special - it is a bit of Tuscany which has remained unspoilt by excessive tourism and for this reason retains a unique charm which is hard to find. Il Mulino just adds to the experience - you are guaranteed a warm welcome from the owners, and although I knew they were on hand for any little problems or just as a source of local advice or knowledge, equally you were left alone to enjoy the peace and tranquility of an amazing setting. Try it for yourself - you won't be disappointed.

Erholsame Tage in sehr schöner Umgebung

„Il Mulino“ traf genau unsere Erwartungen an ein Objekt dieser Art. Sehr ruhige Lage, gute Ausstattung, viel Raum, schönes Ambiente und ein Pool nur für uns allein sorgten für sehr erholsame Tage in der alten Mühle. Die freundlichen Gastgeber waren jederzeit erreichbar und gaben uns zahlreiche hilfreiche Tipps. Besonders gefiel uns auch die vielseitige Umgebung, die sich besonders für Radsportler eignet, aber auch für kulturell interessierte Menschen. Fazit: Ein rundum gelungener Aufenthalt.

Prachtige plek in Toscane

Een heerlijke oase van rust in Toscane. Perfect om dagen lang bij het zwembad te liggen, maar ook als uitvalsbasis voor bezoekjes aan de vele steden en stadjes in Toscane. De woning is ruim en (terwijl het overdag in Toscane soms flink warm kan worden) heerlijk koel. Er is Wifi maar wij hadden geen bereik met onze mobiele telefoons. Dus verplicht niet bereikbaar! Paul is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. ‘S ochtends kan je zelf eieren rapen bij de kippen. Wij hebben het erg naar onze zin gehad en kunnen het iedereen aanraden.

Amazing vacation in beautiful house in Toscany

We spent wonderful 2 weeks in Il Mulino with our family. The house is beautiful, the region amazing and Paul and Sofia are wonderful guests. We will come back with pleasure!

heerlijke vakantie

Genoten van deze mooie en heerlijke woning , een enorm prive terrein met een heerlijk zwembad. De vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar woont naast de vakantie woning . De eigenaar was erg behulpzaam met wat informatie en goede tips . Deze woning is ideaal voor grotere gezinnen of een groep , veel privacy in een heerlijke rustige en mooie omgeving. Bezienswaardigheden zijn binnen 1 tot 1,5 uur bereikbaar waardoor tripjes zeker de moeite waard zijn . Wij waren hier met onze volwassen kinderen , en iedereen heeft genoten van de mooie omgeving en het geweldige huis inclusief mooi en lekker zwembad. Een echte aanrader mede door de zeer vriendelijke eigenaren die je tijdens je verblijf zelden ziet , maar wel bereikbaar zijn mocht je ze nodig hebben.

Perfect villa for relaxing as a group

Great rustic villa with lovely pool and an excellent host who was full of good local advice. Within reach of many of the tourist spots and local eateries were good. Great place to stay as a group with barbecue facilities on hand and farmhouse kitchen. Would stay there again but hopefully come for longer than a week.

Beautiful Tuscan retreat and perfect hosts

After a crack of dawn flight from Stansted, big mix up with the Hire Car company at Ancona airport, my partner and I were frazzled to say the least by the time we were on the road and heading for Monterchi, the delightful little village where Il Mulino is situated. But any stresses melted away as soon as we started driving down the cypress tree lined dusty road towards this perfect little house. And to be greeted by our hosts Paul & Sofia who live in the smaller house next door. They were wonderful and so friendly - big welcome basket in the kitchen and fridge full of essentials. And within an hour I was in the pool, it was was about 80 degrees, beautiful sunny day and just far too hard to resist! Over the next week or so my partner and I had a wonderful holiday - out sightseeing and driving around during the day (also recommend the Gucci outlet only an hour's drive away near Florence!!) and back to Italian feasts at Il Mulino, bbqs and freshly made pizzas (my partner is a chef). Once or twice Paul & Sofia came over and joined us too. they are a lovely couple with the best behaved children I have ever seen. The house itself is beautiful, airy and very traditional, dramatic views of sweeping hillside wherever you look. Wine lovers paradise of course - some beautiful wineries nearby and you can find some amazing wine deals in the local shops. All in all a wonderful week, full of happy memories, big red wines, fresh pizzas, banter with our lovely hosts, dips in the pool at dusk and days spent discovering hidden Umbria & Tuscany. I would say this place is perfect for couples or families - it truly is a little slice of heaven and I would always recommend. Fond memories indeed for us :)

A great place to get away!

We stayed at Il Mulino for a week in April 2008 and can only recommend it. It is a fabulous property, beautifully renovated and cared for. We were made to feel very welcome by Paul and Sofia (and the dog too!). The kids (aged 4 and 2) loved the space, the open gardens to play in (in complete safety too), the playground equipment and most of all visiting the hens to collect eggs each morning. The surrounding area is quiet by Tuscan standards but full of hidden treasures, and the tourist sights of Siena, Florence and so on are within driving distance for day trips. Not to be missed is the pizza restaurant in the nearby village - perhaps the most unattractive building in the whole of Tuscany, but serving the most amazing pizzas! The only downside during our stay was the weather - overcast and somewhat rainy which meant we didn't use the swimming pool, but in spite of this we still had a fantastic holiday. We will return!

Lovely place

Il Mulino really is as good as it looks and sounds on the website. It is clean, well furnished and in beautiful surroundings. To collect eggs daily, scratch the pigs, stroke the sheep and pick fresh veg was, for us, idyllic. The pool is immaculate and safe for our 3 year old. The owners were there if you needed them but there was complete privacy if you wanted. They were very welcoming, very helpful and very nice. We will definitely return. You must cycle along the Tiber, visit Mr Ghignoni's ice cream parlour and eat at the Castello di Sorci.

A beautiful and peaceful location

I cannot praise Il Mulino enough. Paul and Sofia the owners have created a truly beautiful property in a peaceful area of Tuscany. The fenced off pool and enclosed extensive grounds are ideal for young children to play safely. My daughter (aged 4) loved feeding the chickens and collecting eggs for our breakfast every day along with fresh veg and fruit from the allotment. She had plenty of space to run around and play ball, and she thoroughly enjoyed the swings and slide. The property itself was immaculate and clean with very good amenities and Gina the housekeeper even taught us how to make pasta! Paul and Sofia made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you so much for a very special holiday. We hope to return soon!
