This half-timbered house from 1876 with a thatched roof is the last property on a small road before the meadow opens up. Behind the house, a small stream flows into the Mern River. In the summer, the air's filled with birdsong, and here you'll find quiet, fresh air, and a very special sense of peace.
The owners have completely renovated the house with insulation, a new second floor, new electrical systems, a sunroom and an earthen cellar. They've converted the garage into an annex and it's approved for residential use. Together, these features give you plenty of space to spread out across the property's various rooms and levels.
The garden's laid out on two levels, following the old river valley. From the terrace by the annex, you've got a view of the garden. Four apple trees and a plum tree grow here, and from June through August, roses—planted by the host himself—adorn the entire garden. Balle Harbour's 2.5 km from the house. The walk to Balle Strand takes you past fields on both sides, with a forest ahead and, finally, a view of the water towards Nyord. North of Balle lies Jungshoved, home to the village of Stavreby and Bøged Forest. Præstø, featuring a Michelin-starred restaurant and a marina, is located 11 km north of Balle. At Nysø Castle, you can view works by Thorvaldsen.
