Location, location, location. The apartment was cozy. Not too small but just right for my wife and I. The kitchen was well stocked with items, although we did purchase a couple of additional pieces to make our two months a little easier, since we like to cook. The apartment was close to bus lines, bars, restaurants, and a shopping mall that had a large-ish grocery store. The rooftop patio afforded spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains. If you're noise sensitive, this could be a drawback for someone. The apartment is next to a church. Although the noise isn't particularly loud, it is quite regular. Services usually started around 8am each day. The building is only a few blocks away from a major road, so there can be traffic noise, but we didn't have too many issues with that and kept the windows open most of the time. The big kicker, though, is that the apartment isn't far off the departure end of the runway of the inner city airport (Olaya Herrera) and the turboprop planes begin their departures at just before 6am. For us, this wasn't too bad. It meant we didn't need that alarm clock and could get up with the sunrise and go. for the early morning run before shower and breakfast and off to Spanish class. I can see how this could be an issue for some, though. In the afternoons the street vendors would come around. If you like ripe fruit and avocados, this is an amazing treat. Just listen for the shouts of "Aguacate!"
