Small, private, on the lake. Great getaway cabin. Nice central location for exploring between whitefish point and pictured rocks.

Very nice UP cabin
The cabin was small but clean and exactly what we were looking for. Beds were comfortable and the lake was beautiful. It is a very small cabin but we didn't need anything larger.
My family and I so enjoyed this property. It was convenient, clean, and the team was responsive. It was wonderful to have the duck boat and life jackets all ready for us. Wonderfully stocked place. Would love to return.
This cabin has a very homey feeling. I cuddled up on the sofa and was able to catch up on some reading and my husband used the boat and went fishing. We had a nice bonfire in the evenings and also did some day trips.
The house is nice. The hot water heater worked well enough to handle 4 quick showers. I liked the location, relatively quiet. 10 minutes from Newberry. I would definitely go back.
The description of the cottage and property was accurate. The setting was lovely and the cottage had a nice deck . We made use of the firepit several times while watching the sunset over the lake. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. There were three of us and we enjoyed our stay at Coleman's cabin.
The coleman cabin had a very "homely" type of feel. Description was perfect. location was perfect for our 4 day stay to view pictured rocks and the techquamin falls. Lake was beautiful, and the cabin provided everything we needed for cooking, cleaning, sleeping, and pass time. Little instruction notes around the cabin were very helpful. We are very excited to come back to the coleman cabin in the future.
We enjoyed our stay in this nice little cabin on East Lake. My husband has some luck fishing, and we made this HQ when we visited many of the Eastern UP sites. TV and music worked well. No Wi-Fi.
We had a wonderful stay in this cozy cabin! The cottage was incredibly welcoming and truly made us feel like we were renting it from a family friend. The house was stocked with all the amenities you could need for the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. The location was wonderful and so quiet. We felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. We were able to catch Pike, Bass, Catfish, and Blue Gill right at the end of the dock. There wasn’t much cell service, but we enjoyed the opportunity to disconnect for a while and enjoy the beauty of the UP. We definitely will be staying here again!

Serene, clean setting
It's a small cabin but well thought out and they make the most of their space. Beautiful, wooded setting and very few people around, which both I and my grandson loved. He fished a lot while I read. Lake is weedy and mucky so dont plan in swimming but thete is everything you need here for a great vacation! Wish they would have had a broom, dustpan and mop so we could have cleaned up better. Vacuum didn't work. The UP is stunning! Thanks for, in my eyes, a perfect vacation!
We enjoyed Coleman's Cabin. The cabin was clean and matched the online description fairly well, you do need to provide a better description or picture of the loft entrance. This was not a problem for us but could be for someone not expecting a ladder style scenario.
The outdoor areas were nice also with multiple seating options and tables. We enjoyed watching all the woodpeckers and other birds. The yard is on a bit of a hill but provided a nice fire pit that we used several nights while watching the sunset over East Lake.
Everything we needed was there plus some.
The setting was nice and quiet while we were there. I can picture more noise in the summer but mid Oct there were not alot of people on the lake.
We would revisit this cabin.
Thank you for a nice place to call home during our trip to the beautiful Upper Peninsula.
Beautiful deck, great swimming at dock. And the barbecue was nice to have. I tried the hummingbird nectar. The bird put its beak in briefly 3 times, but didn't stay.
My family and I had a fun few days in the UP staying here. As is clear from the description it is a small cabin, and we had to shift a dresser to get our daughter's pack-n-play to fit in the second room, but as a family of three it was a fine size. We had everything we needed, and we were sad to leave. Like most cabins, it has some small quirks and is a little cluttered, but it was clean overall. I tried to do some fishing and took the duck boat out, but I didn't have any luck, probably due to the time of year (early May) and my lack of knowledge of the lake and spring fishing in general. Overall, we would recommend staying here.
We had a great time. It was comfortable and easy access to everything. The lake was very nice and loved having the boat to use.
I do wish there would have been more area to put food items that we brought away.
Overall, we absolutely loved it!
We enjoyed our stay - it was clean, convenient and quiet. We all liked it.

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
An adventure we’d rather forget...
My husband and I were looking for a nice quiet cabin tucked in the woods with a serene lake view. We were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary and only had a couple of days to get away. We found the cabin on Mud Lake... yep, that’s its actual name.
As we carefully made our way past the cluttered porch entryway, we found dirty deck chairs, several grills, and an oily covered picnic table. Entering, the cabin, a musty odor filled our nostrils and our eyes didn’t know what to focus on with all the confusing clutter. A living room, kitchen and bar stools to a counter all tried to fit in a room not much larger than the bathroom.
The DVD movies for the TV (no cable or internet) must have been meant for someone other than most couples would think about enjoying. The bedroom with the biggest bed downstairs was so small that there was no room for a suitcase. The carpet was frayed & the bedside reading light was a bare bulb, which was supposed to work with a battery, but the battery wasn’t working. There was also a large bed up in the loft area, but we didn’t find that one till the morning.
Going outside to see the lake was a real adventure. The path was overgrown with weeds and we weren’t sure if poison ivy was growing there or not. Trying not to trip on ruts and roots, we finally got to the dock. The lake was not as we anticipated, and the neighbors “discussing” their day made for interesting lake sounds. So much for serenity!
Before we settled down for the night, we were delighted to get a call from our friends up in Copper Harbor who wanted us to visit them, so we couldn’t stay our second night in Coleman’s Cabin. We called to tell the Freshwater Vacation Rentals that we wouldn’t need our second night, and asked for a refund, but no money was refunded, because of their policy.
Oh well, our stay in Coleman’s Cabin was memorable. But some memories are worth forgetting.
We had the best time at Coleman's cabin. It was well stocked, well furnished, comfortable, warm, and beautiful. The pictures do not do the view of the lake justice. The patio is amazing, the fire pit is in the perfect spot, the dock is well-kept, you could not ask for a better lake view. The property is easy to get to- right off of a main road. Don't expect cell service or even 4G Internet. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean and ready for us except the loft bed was not made. The couch is very comfortable, but the other two chairs could be replaced with something more cozy. We really appreciated our time there and came back refreshed. The boat was in a good spot to get it into the water, but you have to be really strong in order to get the plug in. The owners are very thoughtful and have a lot of movies and games and cooking necessities for guests to use. There are also plenty of towels and washcloths, soap and anything else you can think of. Our time was far too short. Though the living space is small you can easily sleep six people in the cabin.
