This cabin was beautiful and perfect size for our group of 8. We really enjoyed our stay, close to store but felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. It snowed while we were there and made it feel magical. I highly recommend this place.

McHenry House

This house was perfect for our group! The house was really clean, well appointed and had everything you needed. It was super close to Wisp for skiing and town for everything else. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful!

We all enjoyed our stay at "a Wispful Dream". The location was perfect for our needs. We felt secluded in the woods but we were close to the lake and to stores. The interior was beautiful and nicely equipped. We had plenty of room and it was an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful cozy and clean

We all loved our stay at this chalet. It was beautiful inside and out. It was very clean and had more stuff there than we expected such as cookware and servings utensils and games. The hot tub was really nice and clean. The location was great as there was a grocery store and liquor and beer store very close by as well as a pizza place and Black Bear bar which we had a blast at. We will definitely stay here again if available for our next trip to Deep Creak.

Family Ski adventures

We came to McHenry, MD for a Christmas Vacation with our family, It was a great location for us. We traveled to several ski resorts and were able to be back to our lodging fairly quickly. We did alot of cooking at the house. The kitchen so well equiped! It is amazing for a rental unit. We enjoyed the privacy of the large home, but also the family time at the large table, playing games. We loved the hot tub and playing pool. Wow, what a great vacation!!!

Great Family Vacation

House was terrific. We used the pool table and hot tub everyday!! The area was wonderful lots to do, recommend the mountain coaster! Worth the wait if a line. The only downside of the house is the locks, latches, and plumbing fixtures need replaced. Hard to lock some of the doors and issues with the downstairs bathroom fixtures. Other than that it was a great house, would recommend it!!

Great Cabin in the Woods!

My family stayed at this cabin over Thanksgiving break. We absolutely loved the place. The home was clean, plenty of towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. We made our Thanksgiving meal and the home had every pot, pan and bowl we needed. The property manager, Vacasa, was very easy to book with. Great location. Close to grocery store, Wisp and Swallow Falls. We also visited Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water in PA. Not a bad drive. Drove through Ohiopyle, PA on way to Falling Water and definitely will be back to whitewater raft on the Youghiogheny River. Can't wait to stay here again!

"Wispful Dream" is indeed dreamy!

It is difficult to for us to come up with any negatives. We had our extended family with our 3 married children, 3 grandkids and our single adult child. We were all comfortable and had the room we needed to not be on top of each other. Our daughter and son-in-law are going back with his extended family in 2013. :)

Our stay at the Wispful Dream

My family and i had a fantastic time at this gorgeous house but we did have a few concerns. More so with Coldwell banker. When we go on family trips our main purpose is to get the family together and spend quality time together. Which means we cook huge meals and eat together and play games and not worry about what dishes we are using. Coldwell banker called to complain that we used "all" the dishes and were trying to charge my credit card an additional cleaning fee as they called it because the cleaners complained about having too many dishes to clean. I would probably not use coldwell banker again. But this house was very comfortable and well equipped.

Great location, needs some updates

Overall a great spot for a family vacation - awesome location, close to everything we wanted to do, great for kids, plenty of space for 7 of us. The place in general felt a little unlcean - floors were dirty, needed to be vacuumed, rugs and carpets needed a deep cleaning or just need to be replaced completely. The lower level was very musty and damp. We had to run a dehumidifier the whole time which helped. Had issues getting into the cabin upon arrival. The code didnt work but was quickly resolved by the host. The hot tub was not working properly - only half the jets worked but we still made use of it. Overall, I'd recommend the place, but for the price we paid, we were a bit disappointed that some things weren't up to the standards that it should have been.

Home away from home at Wispful Dream

We had a wonderful time at Wispful Dream and Deep Creek Lake. It was definitely a marvelous break from home. The cabin is spacious, clean, and well- kept. We love the porch area where we had meals amongst the trees , and under the moon and stars! The cabin is pretty and provided practically everything we needed for comfort: bath tub, pool table, board games and of course variety of tv channels to choose from! Various kitchen tools were available for ease in cooking! Sheets were clean. It’s location at the end of the road gave us privacy and peace. At the same time we were within easy access to a supermarket. It really was home away from home! However the following are our feedback for improvement: the grill was dirty - full of grease when we arrived so we did some cleaning before we could even use it; area rugs needs washing or replacement the most; the sofa needs an update- kinda old and sinking; towels are poor quality bec its not absorbent and fabric is pilling; porch needs brushing- old wood; porch railings need cleaning bec of lots of spider webs; kitchen faucet is loose; there was no coffee filter and old kitchen utensils should be replaced. But overall, we had a wonderful stay at Wispful Dream and the fee was right! We will definitely consider going back to enjoy the fall foliage!

Great stay for a ski weekend

We had a very smooth stay for a ski weekend at Wisp. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked. The location was perfect for access to Wisp, grocery stores, and restaurants. It also had a lot of fun games stocked for kids. Great for a weekend away with friends and early elementary school kids. We had a minor issue getting into the house at check in but the property manger was really responsive and we were able to resolve it quickly. We would stay again!

A 5-day Dream Vacation

This beautiful home in a wooded setting provided the space for 6 of us to enjoy each others company and yet have time alone. Son and wife, daughter and husband (visiting from New Zealand, and us older parents all played pool, enjoyed the hot tub, took long walks, cooked for each other in a spacious kitchen, and ate out locally. We also enjoyed a local hard cidery, fall festival and antique shop. Gas fireplaces on two floors, 3 bathrooms, and a cafe nook, kept things carefree and easy going. A short walk to Shop N Save made food runs easy and convenient. Will book this home again, with pleasure.

Extended Weekend

Relatively private location so things were nice and quiet. No bears, but plenty of rabbits and deer made wildlife watching entertaining. The house is beautiful and well kept. It was clean and had everything we needed to cook a few meals inside and outside on the grill. I had to clean the grill before use and it seems to have an issue with gas flow to the back of the burners but we made due and everything came out OK. As other reviews pointed out, the door locks to the decks are a bit tricky to lock, but it's not that big of a deal. We didn't use the TV's or stereo much but everything seemed in good working order. WIFI was useable throughout the house so anyone glued to their phones will be pleased. Hot water and good pressure were readily available as long as everyone didn't decide to shower or wash clothes at the same time. The beds were OK, some more comfortable than others. The sofa proved to be a better option for a couple of family members. The pool table was a nice touch, even for those of us that are novice at best. The hot tub was used by the younger adults except for the first night when the water temperature wasn't in the acceptable range. The fire pit was nice although a chair or two were unusable. Plenty of room for the family to gather around. We brought firewood from home and left a few behind for the next visitor. Although the house is not lakeside, it is within walking distance of several shops. Grounds crew came and trimmed the lawn while we were there. They were very friendly and respectful. Check-In and Check-Out were private and painless.

Mixed Messages

A nice cabin in a quiet location. Be aware that late March/early April can have dicey weather (6 inches of snow and 17 degrees on arrival, 70 and sunny mid-week, thunderstorms and more snow end of visit)! Despite Vacasa's written assurance that all listed amenities were on good working condition, the hot tub did not work and the gas grill burners were clogged and not usable. Note: Vacasa was aware of the hot tub issue since the tech they sent when we reported the problem said a new control pad was already ordered. Overall we had an enjoyable 5-night family reunion, but will not likely visit this location again.
