It’s a lovely small and friendly hotel with a great atmosphere The only suggestion I would make is that breakfast is very slow service as cooked breakfast items are served by one person who is also making egg dishes So frustrating to wait . Easily solved by letting guests serve themselves as they do at every Protea I have stayed at

We kregen eerst een andere kamer (twee bedden) ipv kingsize-bed. Dat werd opgelost. De tweede dag kregen we maar 1 grote handdoek. Kleine onzorgvuldigheden. Wij hadden een kamer met uitzicht op het zwembad. Dat is ook de plaats waar andere gasten even een drankje nemen, even bijkletsen, een sigaretje roken. We moesten dus - ook overdag - onze ramen en gordijnen sluiten. Niet zo fijn. Wij kiezen een volgende keer in Nelspruit een andere plaats om te overnachten.

beautiful Nelspruit

The Hotel stay was very good, staff very friendly. with the exception of housekeeping that didn't properly clean our room and replace few things we used. Overall I would recommend Protea Hotel and use it again.

Lacklustre

Nice property, comfortable bed and great decoration. The staff seemed like they'd had better days though, bored and diatant, and the hotel gave an impression of being quite forgotten in these tough times.

Wonderful staff & comfortable room

Like I say in the title, the staff were fantastic, so accommodating and kind to me on my late last minute stay and my room was extremely comfortable and spacious. Thanks, Protea!

Perfect for an overnight in Nelspruit

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and conveniently located for a one night stop over in Nelspruit before a trip to the Kruger National Park. Considering the Pandemic, the hotel and staff took the necessary precautions I.e. sanitizing of hands, pens and room cards, social distancing and completing health questionnaires upon arrival. Sanitizer wipes were generously located in the room.

A true 4 star hotel experience!

Geeat stay and a true 4 star hotel. The customer service from the security guard at the gate, to the front desk was great. Will definitely be coming back.

this hotel does not deserve 4 stars. Check in was very slow. Hotel room is simple. Restaurant menu has few options. Nothing special.

Restaurant service was beyond awful. They give priority to tour groups. We ordered our food at 7:30 pm. One hour later we asked if they had forgotten about us. Another hour later we left having only received one appetizer and one salad. They told us the rest of our meal was on the way but after two hours we decided to go back to our room and eat snacks. We paid for what we had received only. I would not stay here again. We arrived before the tour groups but they had all finished and gone while we were still Waiting for our food.

Good day Thank you for leaving a review after your last stay with us. We are aware of the lighting problem in the rooms. The lights which were due for arrival as part of our refurbishment has been delayed at customs. We expect these within the next few days. This will most certainly take care of the poor lighting. Just okay place, great pool and pool area. No bar fridge in the rooms, you might get one on request. Rooms are old style design, could do with a revamp. Shower water pressure not satisfactory at all, mixer moves from Antarctica to Volcano by turning it a centimetre. Cleaning staff not the best however, location of the hotel to many amenities is really convenient. All in all I wouldnt come back

Nice hotel with great service to Kruger Park!

We had a day to explore Kruger Park and do a day safari. Leon, hotel manager, put us in contact with Bongi of IzizweRainbow tours. First rate service and experience. Transported us to park where we met the first female guide, Albertina, who took us on a great adventure. I travel a lot and was so impressed by this group of bright, ernest and caring people who wanted to share their Africa with us. Amazing! they're relatively new.
