Matiu - Somes Island

Matiu/Somes island. Little island about 20mins boat ride from Wellington harbour. It's currently a wildlife reserve but in the past it has been a home for Maori tribes, a human quarantine, an animal quarantine, an internment camp and a military base. Lots of lovely wildlife on the island and saw 2 pods of dolphins playing around the island. Nice place for a picnic
