史上最悪のホテル
2泊3日でこのホテルに泊まったが予約する前に口コミを見とくべきだった。 ロケーションはすぐ近くにスーパーがあったので良かったが入り口の目の前にゴミ箱が並べられていて落書きもあり夜になるとアフリカ系の人が集まってなかなか治安は悪かった。 部屋は一人部屋を選んだが、ベッドのシーツは所々黒ずんでいたりヒーターがあるにもかかわらず夜寝るとき点かずにかなり寒かったのでコートを着ながら寝た。 トイレは共用でシャワーは部屋の中にあったが髪の毛が詰まっていて冷たい水しか出なかった圧も弱い。体を洗うと凍え死にそうだったので頭だけ洗うようにした。 寝るときは耳栓が必要なぐらい外が騒がしい。

残念だった。
滞在中誰かがタバコを吸ったとのことで大音量のアラームがなった。 数分で対応して収まるかと思いきや延々と鳴り止まず頭がおかしくなるかと思ったので外出してやり過ごした。 シャワールームが少し不潔。

シャワー圧弱すぎ
広場に近いので深夜、早朝と騒がしい。 個室なのでゆっくりは出来るけど、冷暖房付いてないのでそれなりの覚悟が必要。 シャワー圧が弱すぎてダメ。充分あったまる事は出来ない。 近くにスーパーマーケットがあるのが一番良かった点。 室内にはケトルやカップ、さらには洗面台もあるのでそこは非常に便利でした。

満足！
フロントの方もフレンドリーで良かった◎ お風呂トイレ共同なので、鉢合わせになったらいやだなー。思ってたけど、意外と鉢合わせもなく快適に過ごせた。 お部屋も快適なお部屋◎ 朝食（シリアルとトースト）あるのが嬉しい◎ 街中で、いろいろ行動しやすいのでそれも良かった！

Poor experience
My experience and expected were far below average. The pictures of the room i saw online did not reflect the reality. The toliet and bath were separate and they were used by 4 or more that rooms and they were not clean.

The rising damp on the walls all the way to the second floor was unnerving, and so were the broken windows in the hallway. I could have ignored the broken chair in my room, the missing light in the shower and the TV which was poorly hung on the wall (no remote for it, either). But the WC was a shared one for the second floor rooms and there were mushrooms growing on the window frame, perhaps due to the excessive damp. I had to find alternative accommodation as I didn't feel it was safe for me to stay at the hotel.

Just don't!!
Shocking place! Good location for a low budget horror movie. Down a dark alley with overflowing bins and noisy extractor fans. Inside, the smell of damp and decay and the flourishing growth of fungi on the corridor walls adds to the overall " rooms by the hour " vibe. No towels provided but wouldn't have risked the shower anyway. Location is great. Needs a huge investment to bring it up to a low standard.

Poor standard of hotel
The hotel was in a good position in terms of the venue we were going too & bars , restaurant etc . The condition of the hotel was awful , damp everywhere , heating not working properly & not very clean ! The guy on reception was very helpful and friendly so no complaints about him at all . I wouldn't stay there again .

Over-priced and shabby.
It was my own fault for not realising the room was not en suite, but that’s probably because I don’t expect any city centre hotels to still have shared bathrooms. Or not provide towels. This hotel is tired, shabby, reminiscent of a room I stayed in in a hostel once, but way more than I’d pay for a hostel. The place needs decorating and new carpets as a minimum. The bathroom ceiling was stained and the shower door hanging badly so it didn’t close. I turned on the bathroom light and blew the fuse. And my bedroom door didn’t quite fit the frame. It would have been ok at hostel prices - maybe a third what I paid.

Adequate
Mohammed was a nice guy and was helpful at check in/out. The hotel was very basic, shared bathroom and toilet but neither locks worked and the toilet ceiling leaked in rainwater during the night. The room was again, very basic but the sheets were clean and the bed was comfy. Horrific noise from shop deliveries in the early hours which woke us both and went on for an hour or more. No breakfast due to Covid but plenty of places close by Hotel is central for the AO Arena, Deansgate, Printworks and Christmas markets. Offf site parking at Northern Quarter car park (4 mins away on foot) it was £20 for 24 hours. IMerchsnts Hotel was adequate for what we wanted as we spent no length of time in the room.

It was very cold inside the room. The madrass was not good. The internett was only to use by the recption. It was very noisy from the outside streets through al the night. The place was central.

Stay away.
If this cost £30 for the night I’d of still been unhappy, £140 was day light robbery. End of day it’s a low budget hotel, but it’s still one to stay away from. the bed sheets were absolutely filthy with stains all over them. And there’s a smoke alarm which is running low on battery which was beeping all night. I’d of had a better nights sleep in a prison cell. I just wish we had taken photos of the bed sheets, We wanted to get away so quickly it didn’t cross our Mind. But when I say filthy I mean brothels would have cleaner sheets. Absolutely Shocking. A refund should of been offered.

Not the cleanest. Bad conditions. Don't recommend.
The room had an extremely strong smell of old water, kind of smelt like cat pee, we used a lot of air freshener and had the window open all day, but the smell wasn't going anywhere. The room had a standing shower and a sink, the shower looked very dirty, so we didn't use it, and because the room floor was carpet, the area surrounding the shower was soaking wet, so we couldn't properly stand in front of the sink to brush our teeth or use the mirror. Luckily, they had a communal shower and toilet, that seemed clean, where we showered. The man in the reception was very friendly and helpful, but the condition of the hotel was very disappointing for the price. We really struggled to be inside the room as the smell made it very hard to be comfortable. The bedsheets and pillow cases had a few stains, but the bed itself was very comfortable. We apparently had the only room with a working space heater, as the central heating wasn't working. The check-in hours are very late (6pm) and the checkout hours are the usual (10am-11am). They allowed us an early check-in for a £10 charge. The hotel isn't very disabled friendly as there are quite a few stairs. The towels that were given to us, also had a bit of a stain. Overall I wouldn't go back, I would rather pay a little more and feel like I'm in a clean space. But if you are on a budget and don't have another choice, it's the cheapest hotel i found for the dates I went, but be ready to deal with a few worrying things.

We booked this as it was the only hotel cheaper than £300 that we could find for the date we needed. Fair enough you get what you pay for but the rooms are normally £30 a night and we paid £100. To start on a positive note, the toilet and shower are nice and clean (shared with the rest of the rooms on your floor). The guy on reception was very friendly too. The things that let it down are the rooms, location and the actual smell of the whole hotel. The carpet doesn’t meet the wall so you can see all the dirt gathering in the gaps, the walls are dirty and very poorly painted. I opened the curtain and the whole thing fell down on to me. They are very high windows so I couldn’t even reach to put it back up. The back street that the hotel is on is disgusting! Full of bins and litter and saw a few people using it as a toilet. The bin men came to empty the bins at 7.30 on Sunday morning! Also wouldn’t want to walk down that street alone in the dark. Lastly, when you enter the hotel it smells so bad, like a mixture of fish and urine. Also the shower is either freezing cold or boiling hot! Would never want to stay in this hotel again

The hotel itself was ok, however I did not like the fact we can’t check in till 6pm as I needed to go out by 6:15pm to make it on time. Also the check out time was quite earlier compared to other hotels I’ve been to before. Also, there was one tiny toilet for the whole of the floor in the hotel. Overall the stay wasn’t too bad but as told there was a couple downfalls to this place.

The staff are nice and were happy to be flexible with the check in time and key deposit. The hotel isn't The Ritz obviously, but you get what you pay for.

The room was pleasant and comfortable. The service was good. (The man that checked us in and out was friendly and polite.) Basic and simple but that's all you need when you're in the city centre. The entrance is in an alleyway, so just be careful to plan journeys back and forth to the hotel in advance if you're travelling in the dark (if that's something that would concern you). I enjoyed my stay here and I'd come again.

Disgusting customer service
I didn’t even get to stay apparently my card declined a few times but the money was in my account, I tried calling the reception endless times to get no answer I then went to the actual hotel and was pressing the buzzer to no response. I called the number on the door he said he had cancelled my stay because my card had declined but he didn’t call me again to say this or for me to actually go into the hotel and pay with my card that way very aggressive on the phone with me shouted at one point “it didn’t work again what the hell is this!” Very bad customer service I travelled two hours to get there! Luckily enough I managed to find another hotel last minute blessing in disguise I’d say the entrance to this hotel is in a big ally way with no lights imagine walking down there alone late at night not for me!

Late check-in and no pravite bathroom
Hi, I'd like to express my disappointment concerning my last stay at Merchants Hotel in Manchester. First, only ofter I'd booked, the information appeared saying that the check-in time is no sooner than 6 p.m.! (I wasted the whole day waiting until I could check in). Second, I thought I booked a room with a private bathroom, but no. When I had checked in, I realised that my room had a shared bathroom, and a private bathroom was ON REQUEST! I've never heard of anything like it. The receptionist explained to me that I could request a private bathroom, and if they had available, they would just move me to a different room with a private bathroom (of course, for additional charge). I find it ridiculous because it's not a private bathroom on request, it's just an option to move to a different room. I'm very disappointed because of those two things.
