We had a wonderful experience at the lake house. It was spacious and clean. The outside with the lake was great. It was beautiful sitting out there with a fire listening to all the wildlife. We will definitely be back!
Our annual family vacation was complete with this house. The hidden Jem is the access to Watervale Beach on Lake Michigan only 4 miles away. The house was clean and just as explained. We had a GREAT time with the kayaks and paddle boards. The fire pit made for great family time in the evenings. I would defiantly stay here again.
Our adult children and grandchildren spent a week at this lakefront home. It really was like a home away from home. The view of the lake with the hills in the background was breathtaking. The sunsets each evening were amazing. My granddaughter loves photography and she was able to capture some beautiful sunsets! The kids enjoyed trails, tubing, the alpaca petting place, and of course the local beaches. The hosts provided kayaks, water boards, and a row boat, and a canoe - all of if which we took total advantage of enjoying.
The yard was spacious and we easily fit four cars in the driveway. Both the front and backyard were large enough to set up our crochet set. There was plenty of room to play cornhole in the back. We enjoyed the fire pit almost every night we were there! Shane was available to answer any questions we had, and even texted once to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
When we took a vote, the family agreed we may be back again!
Great location. Nice lake. Home has many good features. Great selection of kayaks, canoe, paddleboards and life jackets. Floor plan is good w decent furniture. Well stocked kitchen. Window AC in two bedrooms. The firepit is great with excellent seating. The view is fantastic.
The house has lots of little issues that could easily be fixed and a couple bigger issues.
Little issues: No walk or stepping stones between drive and front door (so if damp you track in sand and grass), door wall very difficult to slide, bedroom and bathroom door knobs that don't work, one sink faucet very difficult to operate, huge gaps under bedroom and bath doors, terrible trim work or trim missing completely, filthy under couches, beds and top of refridge, fridge and freezer doors do not seal and the master bed is so high that at 6'3" I still had to hop up to sit on it!
Bigger issues: the pictures show property lined by pines which you hope provide some privacy. Unfortunately, the pines are old and most lower branches are dead and provide little screening. The biggest problem is the seawall and lake frontage. I measured lake bottom to top of seawall at 57" - yeah almost five feet tall! So if you stand in the water, good luck getting a kayak or canoe up the seawall. The lake drops off very slowly. Depth at end of the long dock is maybe 4'. No diving and a mucky/sand lake bottom makes for poor swimming from shore.
All in all, a good lake home at a fair price and we'd consider a return visit.
The check in and check out processes were very easy. The owner was great to communicate with. The kayaks and paddleboards were great for getting out on the lake. The lake felt very private and peaceful
The lake was lovely. Enjoyed sitting on the swing looking out over the lake. Was exciting to see River Otter family and birds. One thing I would have liked is a better selection of cookware.
This property provided the lakefront vacation we were looking for. Very peaceful. Kids loved running and jumping off the dock over and over (bring water shoes!). The paddle boards and small pontoon were a huge bonus. House was comfortable. We definitely see ourselves returning to this area for future vacations.
We had a great time in Frankfort! Our family enjoyed exploring Frankfort & the surrounding area. Saw some awesome fireworks on the beach in Frankfort! Had a fantastic dinner at the Arcadia Bluffs Restaurant for our 52nd Wedding Anniversary! We climbed to the top of the Point Betsie Light House & enjoyed the views! The tour guide did an excellent job of giving us the history of the area & the life of a lighthouse keeper! The kids loved the water & learned to paddle-board - even went across the lake to explore! It was a wonderful family vacation! Veronica & Bill
The house is very spacious and the view of the lake is amazing. But the living room furniture was totally broke down & unusable. We contacted owner. He didn't know. Amenities listed hairdryer & there was not one & there was absolutely no soap in the showers/tubs. Only hand soap dispensers in the bathrooms. So bring your own. Great location.
We loved our stay at this house! It was very spacious. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and coffee maker, so we had everything we needed for the weekend. The bathrooms also had hairdryers! The house is very private and has its own beachfront and dock. The yard in front of the house faces West-Northwest so you can catch every sunset on the back deck. The sunsets are SO beautiful-- We loved to sit outside each evening and admire the view. The grill was very handy and the fire pit was very fun to use as well.
The house is also very close to a lot of fun hikes and towns so we did not run out of things to do. The owners have a guidebook they sent us with everything you can possibly do in the area. Hikes, biking trails, towns, stores, restaurants….you name it. The owners were very easy to get in touch with. We will definitely be back!
I brought my family visiting from overseas to this cute little cottage and it was a very fun stay. The location was very convenient and a good homebase for exploring m22 thoroughly. The cottage overlooks upper herring lake and has an excellent, long dock that allowed us to use our kayaks easily. Paddleboards, a canoe, and what I believe was a rowboat were available and in great condition.
There were two full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and plenty of sleeping space. We were 5 adults and were quite comfortable on a weekend trip. Finally, the ownerwas very easily reachable and I felt quire reassured that if I had any issues he would help figure out a solution.
Super location.! Great backyard with firepit, easy access to the lake and water toys to enjoy. Nice layout with spacious kitchen to accommodate family meals and game night. Shane was very responsive to all communication and gave us good advice on local amenities.
This place has had it all! Close enough to the Up North towns to enjoy the day shopping or at a Lake Michigan beach, private enough to just enjoy the house and all it has to offer. You can easily have a few families stay here. The garage has all the things you need enjoy the lake, noodles, tubes, even different size life jackets. Saves having to haul them up! The lake is CLEAR and the dock is great to get in and out of the water. For those like me that just wanted to relax... this is the place too. I enjoyed just laying on the lounge chairs reading a book and enjoying the summer days. My 90 year old mom enjoyed the swing and my husband fished off the dock every morning! The host was available if we had a question and provided some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We would definitely stay here again.
