The location is stunning, so quiet yet only a 5 min walk down a track to the village which has 3 bars, 2 supermarkets and 2 bread shops. Very friendly and traditional. The chips at La taska are awesome. Food and alcohol is cheap, lunch for 4 was 28 euros. The pool was great to cool down in and we had 3 different areas to sit in as the sun moved around. Comfortable rustic accommodation, very cool inside as wooden shutters kept the heat out and there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. There are 2 apartments on the ground floor and the owner John's accommodation is above although he doesn't live on the premises. Then a separate apartment to the side, each had its own own private area/s. The flowers all around are so pretty and you can walk for miles or relax in the sun, the breeze was pleasant in late June and needed in the hot sun.
It isn't easy to find and the roads are windy but it's worth it when you get there. Not recommended to arrive in the dark. In daylight the views driving through the mountains are spectacular. About 45 minutes drive to Garrucha and Mojacar where the sea was warm with great waves to play in. There is also a Lidl in Garrucha to stock up. Mojacar Marina is a great course to play for high and low h/c. Aguilion is an hours drive but we'll worth it, spectacular views and it's set in the mountains. A car is needed because it's so remote. The owner, John, was very efficient when we needed help with anything and always at the end of the phone. I would recommend this as a beautiful rustic get away to relax and enjoy traditional Spanish life with the locals. We were lucky to have nice couples staying at the same time, Mike and Caz who we shared a drink with on their last night and Jeanette and Peter who loved the local walks. A bit of a gem, only real downside is finding it.
