Property was a great place and exactly as described. It was nice to be able to have a place for our dogs to run while with us. Host was very easy to communicate with and responsive, we will definitely be back on our future trips to lubbock.
My wife and I stayed here on the way back from New Mexico. Great house out in the country. Fantastic views from a nice, large porch. Super clean with really comfy beds. Perfect place to stay if visiting Lubbock and you want to stay away from town.
It is a beautiful house! In an amazing location! It really is a great place to stay, the biggest issue was the entry lock, it was extremely hard to get in, but we made it. I wasn't sure what to do with trash and dirty linens after our visit, there weren't any instructions. Do not follow the directions on the VRBO website, but actually put the address in your GPS. The house needs a bit updating, and the shower in the master has a leak in the head. They need to finish painting the hall wall, and the double beds were not comfortable. All that being said, it was a great stay and we would definitely stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay with our family while visiting our son at Texas Tech. The home is a 30-minute drive east of campus so it felt like a mini vacation for him too. It's a leap of faith driving to the location that pays off in the end. The picture of the home makes it seem that the house is in foothills (ain't no foothills in Lubbock!) but it is actually in a canyon that is a beautiful oasis. The house was perfect - clean, ESPN+, charcoal grill, huge kitchen. We would definitely stay again!
The house had a very warm feel and the layout was great for my family gathering. Large kitchen, open family room. The view from the front porch was beautiful, especially for that region, where it is mostly flat views or pure farmland. It was the perfect getaway
The VRBO host text me canceling my stay around midnight the night before leaving to attend my daughters graduation at Texas Tech. I would have appreciated a heads up on the cancellation. I booked my stay 9 months before the event in order to avoid
kaos. I was up scrambling to find a hotel at midnight. I can’t understand how VRBO allows hosts to cancel with such short notice.
My girls and I had a wonderful weekend here. It's a bit hard to get to, our first GPS directions took us to a place that kinda resembled a place in "Deliverance." But we adjusted and found it the second time. Beautiful home with great accommodations. The front porch is lovely and the views are fantastic. I was a bit bummed about not being able to use the fire place, but it wasn't the end of the world. We had some issues with the internet and television connections, but I suppose a weekend away should be less about internet and more about quality time. All in all, this is a fabulous location. We all kept wondering why the owners don't live here. Callie was very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. Thank you Callie for helping make my birthday weekend a great one!
I have a text stating the full amount of our stay would be refunded from the owner. The water pipes broke, on the day we arrived, for our stay. We drove all the way down there from Colorado and didn't hear from her until three hours before check in!!!!! She told us that we would recieve a full refund, because not knowing when water lines would be fixed, we couldn't just keep waiting. She said maybe we could stay at her parent's home in Amarillo - NOT WHAT WE WANTED TO DO!!!! NOT WHAT WE PAID FOR!!!!! This is completely unacceptable. She has had plenty of time to refund our money. We have texted her reminders and asked for the refund on at least two different occasions. DO YOU REALLY ALLOW THIS???? Please advise. Thank you
The day of booking we messaged one another where I explained that my father had passed away days prior & we'd be in town for his memorial. I received permission for us to have our Dad's four sisters over after his private memorial before each of us headed back to our respective cities. The host graciously agreed.
The week before arrival I received a VRBO confirmation without access code information. 4 days prior I email... no response... 1 day prior I email... no response. Got up the next morning for the out-of-state road trip and completely forgot to check for a msg because I was PLANNING A MEMORIAL on top of the road trip & managing plans for the family traveling from five different cities :(
We stopped about 2 hours before check-in & I found a call button on VRBO (thank goodness!) where someone picks up and it's empty air. I decided to see if a text would go through to that number & inquired about getting the access code since we were less than 2 hours away?! She stated that it should have already been sent automatically via Vrbo and said she'd get to an area of better reception to send it...
Close to 3pm (1 hour before check-in) she texted that her previous renter tested positive for covid (checkout was 10am). I, sadly, don't believe this to be entirely true as shown by her complete lack of communication in the days leading up to the reservation, additionally, VRBO showed the rental as available the night before our booking which led us to ask in that email 4 days prior if it were OK to arrive an hour sooner... No response because she probably FORGOT.
Additionally, the complete lack of empathy despite knowing that we are making arrangements for my father's memorial, is what really upset our ENTIRE family. Her casual response was "sorry... It's unfortunate for both of us... ". Ma'am, YOU are the host... where's the HOSPITALITY? It's "unfortunate" for the stranded travelers that were already near the area after having traveled HOURS from out of state and then had to drive around *in an unfamiliar and rural area with POOR data connection* desperately searching for another place while you enjoyed yourself at the lake.... Bless. Your. Heart.
Furthermore, her offer to "help" was rhetorical because she texted that there were a few rentals nearby but offered no ACTUAL help other than making it clear that my money was refunded then *CRICKETS*. Another fun fact, you can't rent from VRBO the day of arrival.. Ask me how I know (sigh).
Home was perfect!! And for all of you looking for unplugging your kids and enjoying a good ole fashioned no electronics time this place is perfect!!! Wifi was available I just chose to not share so that we could reconnect and play outside!! LOVED it more than I could even describe!! This home is all that is described and more! The perfect home for memories that will last a lifetime!!
