"We highly recommend the power house, a beautiful and unique historic property, right on the waterway where the end of the Portage River meets Keweenaw Bay. There are three buildings, all owned by the same family, but only the power house is currently used and available to rent. The other two are being renovated. This building once supplied power (via cable) to a nearby lighthouse, and it has been extensively renovated. It has a very large comfortable, well-furnished and equipped living/dining/kitchen area as well as a separate den. There are two bedrooms, one with king bed and twin bunks, the other with a queen bed, and a rather small but adequate bathroom with shower. There is a TV with no cable but you can stream programs with your own subscriptions. Cell service worked well there. The property is quite private and very quiet. We are not beachgoers but there is a nearby beach. The water views from the property are beautiful and you can watch the occasional boat and float plane go by. There is outside seating to enjoy it all. The place has a very well-equipped kitchen and a nice large dining table, but if you don't want to cook, Dreamland restaurant is 10 minutes or so up the road, and they have good food and drink. Otherwise, stock up before arriving as it's 20 minutes or more to the closest store. Excellent directions were given to access the property and get the key. Kristin, the owner, is not on-site but responds very quickly to phone calls and texts."

"The room was spacious and nice. There was some dust on the wine glasses. We stayed 3 nights and asked for extra wash cloths and got them that day. The only down fall was we had to ask for a key to our room so no one could just walk in when we weren’t there. (That was different.) It over all it was great. It was quite easy to find and just like the pictures. The bed was perfectly firm and the pillows were soft and fluffy, we slept great. I would stay here again."

"What a special home and property! The decor & atmosphere of the house was nostalgic while having all modern conveniences. The map of the property, detailing the well-manicured trail and all of the trees intentionally planted over the decades, was wonderful. My dog & I walked the path every day, we covered every yard. I got lost in the woods for a bit, I got caught up looking around & momentarily forgot to follow the orange tags marking the path. I'm from the North east USA, and its been 55 years since I've seen a live, mature, (natural) American Chestnut tree. Loved it here!"
