The space
The 2.5 acre (10 mål) estate is incredibly private. Protected from neighbors and the elements by huge granite domes and ancient forest, the house's name "Stilla" means “the quiet place.” What makes it special and peculiarly quiet is how hidden it is from the many surrounding cottages and boats that pass by everyday along Blindleia, one of Norway’s most popular waterways. You can roam free on the sandy beach or on the sizable front and backyards without ever being seen. You're a 25 minute drive from the city of Kristiansand and Kristiansand International Airport (a quick hop flight from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stavanger or Bergen). You feel remote but logistics are easy. The quaint seaside town of Lillesand is a short drive or boat trip away. The house's dock is the perfect springboard from which to explore the thousands of surrounding islands and some of the most beautiful scenery Norway has to offer. Not to mention great fishing and crab trapping! Inside, you can cozy up in front of two working fireplaces (or roast marshmallows by the outdoor fireplace). There are big TVs and fast internet, if you need it. The bedrooms offer views of the bay, with the master bedroom and the kids room as standout favorites among our guests. The interiors are all newly renovated, with classic Scandinavian furniture, white walls, and light natural wood floors to give the place a modern but timeless Scandinavian feel that's minimalist, but still cosy (or "hyggelig" as they say in the region).
Guest access
You'll have full access to the house, boat house, pool, beach, dock, and grounds. You'll also have a motorboat at your disposal, in addition to two kayaks, two stand up paddle boards (STUPs), and lots of fishing equipment (for crabs and fish).
Other things to note
This part of Norway is known for its good weather. Stilla is particularly well situated. Surrounding rocks protect it from wind and because it's at the tip of a a peninsula, Stilla is usually clear of the mainland cloud cover.
