Excellent house and location! We loved being so close to the beach, in a quiet area with little traffic, while also having plenty of destinations within driving distance - the ferry, Cape Henlopen, downtown Lewes, bike trails, even mini golf! The upstairs room was perfect for children, with toys and books and plenty of space to play. The house was cozy and comfortable - a great contribution to a relaxing vacation.The host was very helpful and responsive with many ways of communications (email, text)

The house was very clean, cozy and comfy! The tv room was very large with a nice big tv for nighttime movies. We enjoyed the screened porch on the back and the fire pit patio area. Very short walk to the beach. John was very easy to communicate with and replied quickly to my questions.

This is a great cottage very close to the beach. Our family of five had more than enough room. We really enjoyed our relaxing and rainy weekend. The cottage is a quick walk or drive to town. The beds were comfortable. The decor is very old school (which we appreciated). Jim is gracious in offering use of anything onsite. He’s very responsive before the visit and checks in while visiting. Overall great first time in Lewes (even though it rained a lot we loved it)

The house was larger than the photos suggested, it was very well stocked, and worked well for us. The owner checked in with us, which was nice, and we enjoyed hearing that the house had been in the family for a long time. The location was really perfect - a short walk to the beach, yet close to town and other attractions.

Great location

Cute vintage beach house. Hard to beat proximity to the beach. Exceptionally responsive owner. Love the more quiet Lewes compared to Rehoboth. My family and I very much enjoyed our stay.

Real deal beach house

Great house, excellent location, engaged host. We were traveling with young children and appreciated how the common area was away from bedrooms so that we didn’t have to tiptoe around at night. Also great outdoor space. If you want to feel at home at the beach, this is the place!

Beach house

We had a great time! The house is just steps away from the beach. Spent quite a bit of time on the screen porch. We actually had a warm beach day in April which was a nice surprise. Communication with the owner was great, very responsive. Would definitely consider staying again.

Nice, well-provisioned home

We loved our visit to this sweet house half a block from the beach on the Delaware Bay. Easy walking distance to downtown Lewes. The three bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked as the house continues to be a vacation home for the family that owns it. It has a nice large living room and screened porch as well as a good-sized dining room. We would definitely rent here again. It was also very quiet.

Lewes lounging

Although the weather was quite dicey during our visit, we felt warm and snug in John’s home. The large living room was a great place to snuggle with our pup, read, and watch movies. The location of the house made it so as the weather cleared, we could quickly and easily access the beautiful beach. It was also a quick drive to Cape Henlopen - a place we love.If you are looking for a gentle escape from the world, John’s space is a great choice.

Felling like home.

The rental place is great. One does not feel like rental but like home. Very good price for a week. There is a lot of everything. Everything very comfortable. Clean. Great outdoors. Great games for kids, great pieces for adults to play. But I do not want to praise too much, because I would like to go there again and do not want to pay too much. Beach just 10 steps away, and not too crowded.

Perfect Beach Getaway

Spent an extended stay here with my dog and partner/friends in and out. It is ideal for waking up, rolling out of bed, and walking the maybe three hundred feet to the beach. It's also a fifteen/twenty minute walk to downtown Lewes, which has incredible food (some of the best I've ever had in a beach town). Any groceries you'll have to travel a bit farther so stock up. The house is old fashioned, which is part of its charm, but has plenty of space. The screen-enclosed lanai was a huge part of our enjoyment--would sit out back there with the dog for hours. John, the owner, was incredibly helpful and responsive. We look forward to coming back!

Great location

This was our 2nd time at Lewes Beach. We loved the location- literally STEPS from the beach. Our dogs loved going in the morning and after 630pm when dogs were allowed. Lots of fun games and activities at the house such as board games and floaties. We used the kayak at the beach too. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, beach chairs, bikes etc. The house is a bit older but we already knew that and chose the house because of the location. We were able to walk to town a few times for King's ice cream and drive to the outlets for shopping. There was a bit of an issue with the AC but the fans were great and John was very communicative and had it fixed right away.

Perfect beach spot to relax

This is the perfect location for a slow-paced beach retreat. The entrance to the beach is less than 2 minutes away on foot, and the property had all the essentials needed (umbrella, chairs, extra towels). The sun was a bit ruthless the week we stayed, so it was great to be able to hit the beach early and late in the day, and explore Lewes and some of the Rehoboth attractions mid-day. Jungle Jim's was a nice contrast to swimming in the bay one day. The house was spacious & airy, with good central AC and interior shutters/shades to keep it cool in the day. Screened in porch & a pergola covered with Wisteria made some nice shady spots and our kiddo loved the hammock chair. Outdoor shower was lovely to get all the sand off after the beach. And the huge living room was great for games (many at the house) and Legos (brought from home). Location is very quiet, but walkable to a few shops, and there are lots of bike paths around the town. Very short drive (4 mins) to downtown Lewes, and only slightly longer to the bigger stores and attractions along the main routes (10 mins, more depending on traffic). We loved it here and the host was easily reached with questions via text. He also had lots of great recommendations for food and fun activities for kids. We can't wait to come back!

Family Property by the Beach

The property is very close to the beach, and the rental provides excellent value. The home provided enough space for me, my wife, both my in-laws, and my 3 children (ranging in age from 2.5 to 9.5 years old).The rental rate was affordable and very fair. The area is residential with commercial options a short bike ride away. The community is bike friendly and contains a number of trails that interconnect residential, commercial, and tourist areas. The beach is only a football field away from the house and can be accessed without crossing any busy roads. The beach itself is pleasant with soft sand and family-friendly water conditions. The shore is very shallow allowing my 2.5-year old to safely play in it.The interior of the home is dated with minimal modern stylings. It is an old family home with major sentimental value to its owner and various personal affects. The house has everything needed for a stay and more. Bikes and kayaks are included, but sized for a shorter family.My children shared a bedroom that was converted from an attic and stifling hot. Fortunately, the room had a dedicated air conditioner, but the space was still tight and uncomfortable. The rest of the house, including the other two bedrooms was comfortable. Furnishings are clean and neat, but old. Appliances are newer and provide for good amenities. The WiFi signal was strong throughout with fast internet access. The owner was very kind. He was easy to contact throughout the visit and responsive.

My family and I had an amazing stay here. The house was comfortable with a lot of personality. The toys and books were a hit with the 2 year old boys. One kept shouting “Oh Wow” as he explored. My 7 year old granddaughter fell in love with the loft! The parents enjoyed grilling, chilling and enjoying each others company. The short walk to the beach was the topper. We spent so much time there and were able to take a quick trip back if something got left behind. We took advantage of the toys, surf board and games. Also a big plus. The house is close to great kid friendly restaurants and not far from the Rehoboth Boardwalk. We’ve stayed at a variety of properties and this one was the biggest hit! Having my old dog to travel with me was also great! Five Star Everything!

We enjoyed our five nights in this pet friendly home owned by the same family for 55 years. Its location is great since it is three houses away from the Lewes Beach and offers nice walking or biking opportunities on Bay Drive. The home is well supplied for your kitchen and laundry needs and offers two grills (gas and charcoal) and two fire pits (large and small). Kitchen appliances are new and work well. There is a nice large master bedroom and a large family room. The upstairs bedroom has a low ceiling, but fine for kids and has a new AC unit. Beach chairs, bicycles, a sea kayak and sun shades are available for your use. The owner is very responsive and is bringing the house up to date.

Very comfortable, perfect accommodations for the five of us. We loved gathering together every evening in the large family room, after our walk to the beach to watch the sunset. Excellent location for beach goers. Owner was easy to reach and very personable.
