Live like the mayor. Spacious 100 year estate and previous home of the mayor. Currently, a cultural museum/giftshop downstairs and private apartment upstairs. Stocked kitchenette, wi-fi, cold AC. Be a part of history and truly experience Louisiana's unique charm. Located in the Historic District of Freetown neighborhood. Blocks from DT area. Steps away from Lafayette's restaurants and shopping. Just off Mardi Gras parade route and central to all festivals including Festival Int'l. Guided walking tours available for small fee. This is an upstairs unit.

OK with Some Drawbacks
Positive: Large outdoor areas and parking. Within walking distance of Jefferson / Night life. Fire sprinklers installed (not sure if the system is operational). Free extras like water, chips, coffee. Negative: Stone's throw to active rail line. Low quality finishes. No significant kitchen or living area - all bedrooms. Lock needs a more secure combination.

Basic but clean and comfortable
Great location to be in downtown Lafayette. There are two flights of exterior stairs up to an upper apartment above what looks like a cute museum. There is no real kitchen, so be aware. There is a smaller fridge freezer, a Keurig, a microwave, and a water cooler (no sink and no stove). The beds were comfy, the one bathroom wasn't really very comfy (small and cramped) but everything worked. Outside there are picnic tables and lots of green space. We never saw the owners but they let us check in a little early and all communications were friendly.

A Hidden Historical Treasure
From the initial contact about the venue every thing was inviting and Erica made us feel very welcome. The venue itself has so much to offer as it has spacious rooms, a tranquil atmosphere, easy access to restaurants and an onsite store. There are so many things that can be done while at the location. The owner was easy to contact and we had no issues our entire stay. I highly recommend staying at Maison Freetown and will be back in the near future.

Wonderful home and stellar host!
The home is amazing! It's a charming historic home located in the heart of Lafayette. It was peaceful and serene, and extremely comfortable. The host was so sweet and accommodating. She made sure I felt right at home. I would highly recommend it and look forward to my next stay!

Horrible Listing
This place is horrible. It’s like a weird haunted house. I use this facility for a bachelorette slumber for 8 ppl. The owner has another party going on in the bottom half of the house. The were extremely rude. The check in was awkward. I had to go inside party to look for the host. The house was filthy. There was roaches on the property,and the beds were broken and shaky. The owner called me about additional money and I checked out 1 day earlier and hated my experience

Mardi Gras Memorial
We love coming to Mardi Gras Lafayette. My daughter lived there for a number of years, two of my grands were born there. We lost my daughter to cancer in November 2022, so it was only fitting that we brought her ashes to the place she loved so much. This property was perfect for the number of people, and close (walking distance) to the parade route. My only complaint was the stairs, I’m 70 and bad knees, but it was still a good place to be. We love FreeTown and will definitely come back.
