Close Arenal volcano , the Mountain View rooms offer unparalleled and breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano. The access road is not for the faint hearted but you are rewarded with amazing scenery.
Great place. Highly recommend one of the cabin on the hill. The view of the volcano is breathtaking and being able to see it from your room’s window is priceless. Also, the place is kept very clean and the restaurant serves very good food at affordable prices. Overall it was a very good experience
Pros:
Incredible views (even better than expected)
Friendly and helpful staff
Good breakfast
Cons:
Location is quite far from most attractions and restaurants
Steep, intimidating driveway (gets easier, but still slow to navigate)
Rooms are dated; we also had a few critters in ours
A/C didn’t work very well
Limited front desk hours (7 AM–9 PM) made early checkout inconvenient
Pool was cold and jacuzzis were only warm
No towels available at the pool (we found out the hard way)
Beds were very firm (though we still slept fine)
Overall:
Great views and staff, but the remote location and dated facilities made it feel more like a 3-star experience than a standout stay.

Views are gorgeous! Rooms are very dated but our experience with view, pools, jacuzzis and nice people made up for it.
It was a great stay. The staff were very attentive and the room was clean and spacious. We could see the volcano from our balcony and you can’t beat the price.

Chalet was very dated. Small tv and hard bed. Sofa and recliner were very dirty with years of use. Staff were all outstanding. Restaurant was nice clean and staff efficient, food was good.Prices were also quite reasonable

Yes the staff was warm and friendly
The rooms were clean but cold and damp because it was cool and rainy. There was no way to take the chill off the took. Clothes ended up damp. My passport in the safe ended up curling up because of the damp
Great experience! Views are incredible, pool / hot tub were awesome, lots of trails around the property, great staff and restaurant food was the best in the area! Would highly recommend
The place truly grows on you. While the property is a bit dated, the people more than make up for it with their warmth and helpfulness. We stayed in a chalet overlooking the volcano, and on a clear day the view was simply enviable. The breakfast staff goes out of their way to make mornings pleasant, and the front desk team is consistently friendly and supportive, contributing greatly to a comfortable and enjoyable stay
This hotel in on a mountain 2 km uphill on a paved but old road, although I saw sedans I don’t know how they made it. We were glad we rented a 4x4 that’s what I recommend. Also try to get there before dark due to the steep uphill super curvy 2 km road.
Although hotel is old (probably oldest in the area) it’s very clean , rooms are big and comfortable. It’s on a beautiful mountain with great views . The horse riding on site is a most! Decent breakfast, friendly staff. Definitely recommend if you’re into rustic stays and nature.

Everything was great! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the beds are very uncomfortable. Besides that all else was good!
the property was nice but the road from the hotel gate to the room was not well maintained the hotel can use some TLC. our room was nice but we could hear our next door neighbor when they spoke. The hiking trails around the property were nice.
