Pros: The location of this property is ideal. It is part of the Sanddollar condominiums which has an excellent water front, easy access for swimming, snorkelling and diving. The water is fantastic. The property manager is excellent and communication is immediate with him. He met us at the airport and guided us to the property.
Cons: This unit has recently been renovated and it looks lovely but there are many issues. Prior to booking I inquired about ventilation and if we could have the windows open to take advantage of the beautiful Bonaire breeze. The owner assured me that there were new sliding doors and it would be no problem to have them open. (My husband and I are not fans of AC) However, she failed to mention that there were no screens on the doors or that the windows on one side of the condo were bolted shut. This was OK during the day but as soon as the sun set the mosquitoes came out in full force and we were forced to close all doors. There is no AC in the main area which makes it very hot and uncomfortable. This was especially a problem when we wanted to cook dinners as it was far too hot to use the stove and we were continually swarmed by mosquitos. The property manager provided us with a large fan which did provide some relief and we purchased 2 cans of bug repellant. The AC in both bedrooms works well but we did not want to spend all evenings locked in the bedroom. We observed that all other units at Sanddollar had screens.
Both bathrooms have been renovated but the shower in the main bedroom does not work at all. There were just two of us so we were OK with using the other shower. However, if there are more than 2 people it could be an issue with only one functioning shower. Also, the one functioning shower seemed to be continuously swarming with mosquitos.
Other small issues: the brand new closets have no poles so you cannot hang anything up and there are no bedside lamps in either room making it impossible to read at night.
We would not stay at this condo again.
