We arrived to an unclean house just before 9 PM. Beds were not made, sheets were on the floor, and kitchen was not clean. We tried to contact the property manager and could not get ahold of her, so we called VRBO. At first, they could not get ahold of her either. At about 10:15 PM I received a call from the property manager. She apologized about the property not being clean and had the house cleaner come in the next day. Since we were from out of state and unfamiliar with the area, we ended up staying the night at a hotel where it cost us over $200.00. When I asked the property manager if she would cover the cost of the hotel, she said she can only refund the cost of the night that we were not able to stay. I would think there might be a little more accommodation, but there was not. We came back the next afternoon, and the house had been cleaned and prepared for our stay as it should have been the previous night. There were a couple things that were not in the kitchen, like hot pad holders, or a cutting board, which I would think would be basic kitchen equipment. We tried to reach out to the owner but she never responded about those things. She was quick to tell us she would not be refunding more than the cost of one night. Communication with us seemed lacking after our arrival, and it had not been prior as she had responded to several questions we had in preparing for our stay. My over all rating of this property would be a "C." Over all once the property was cleaned, we were happy with the stay. As of this review, we have not received our refund.
