About a holiday in Bigbury on Sea...
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bigbury-on-Sea is renowned for its lovely golden sandy beach and dramatic coastal walks. There is plenty for water sports enthusiasts, including its’ very own award winning surf school offering surf and paddleboard lessons, as well as being able to hire boards and kayaks. Bigbury Beach is an ideal spot from which you can set off on your paddleboard and explore the coastline or start your day with a refreshing sea swim. Walk across the beach at low tide to the famous Burgh Island, home to Burgh Island Hotel, a unique Art Deco Hotel favoured by Agatha Christie and Noel Coward or at high tide, ride across the water on the famous sea tractor. Whilst on the island, why not hike to the top and take in those breath-taking 360-degree views out to Bantham and across to Hope Cove or just relax and enjoy a drink in the 14th Century Pilchard Inn.
Set above the beach is a wonderful beach shop where you can buy pasties and ice-creams and during the summer months you’ll find Beach Barista parked up on the beach serving great coffee. Located astride the South West Coastal Path, keen walkers will enjoy exploring the delights of the numerous bays and headlands along this beautiful piece of coastline and visit some of the old Pub/Restaurants in the nearby villages along the way. Visit the nearby charming harbour towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth or further afield, explore Dartmoor or the historic town of Totnes.
