Sand Life - Pelican's Northern Nest -Pet Friendly!

Ground level surf shack apartment located conveniently on the Beach Road in Kill Devil Hills yet literally a stone throw away from the Kitty Hawk line! Enjoy ocean sounds right from your kitchen/living room. Skip across the road to private beach access! Knotty pine throughout in this 1955 year old one of a kind space! Easy access to all the OBX has to offer! BONUS - bring your furry four-legged buddy!
The space
This space adopted a Blue Whale - Travel with Purpose when you stay with us and assist in global efforts to help save this beautiful endangered species! No steps to contend with! Covered Tiki bar and propane grill greet you at the entrance which leads into full size kitchen and dining area for four. Spacious living room with smart TV, large couch and rocking chair! Two bedrooms with dresser and closets in each! One king bed and one queen! Your own controlled AC/Heat in every room! One full bath with shower/tub combo (Note - there is one step up into tub).

Enough parking for 1 vehicle preferably.
If your group is larger than 4 there are two other spaces that are available to be rented separately! Inquire with your host if you are interested in these spaces as well!
Guest access
Everything in your space is for your enjoyment including the Tiki Bar, propane grill, and outdoor hose at entrance. Inside is all yours except for the locked owners closet.
Other things to note
One bath towel, wash cloth, beach towel, and beach chair provided per person!

Private beach access for all Pelican guests is directly across from driveways.

Nearest public beach access is Arch St.

If bringing a pet please communicate with your host about this when you book!

The kitchen was fine. We didn’t really use it. The description of this property needs to be changed. The only view from the kitchen and living room windows is that of hiway 12 and the large sand dune. You can not see sand and surf from the Pelican’s Nest. It is a short walk to the beach though. Everything else about the unit was fine.

First off, our host Gia was on the ball…! Very attentive and pretty quick answering any questions we had. We loved the house and its beachy, fun vibe! It’s the next best thing to being directly on the beach! Short 2 minute walk from door to sand! We would stay here again and we highly recommend!

Lovely Short Stay

We were so happy to find a home that not only allowed short stays – just three nights – but also our Sweet mini doodle and literally a stones. Throw up a Dune and on the beach. Perfect house for a couple even the linens were quality! And the communication with the host was always immediate and first rate. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Amazing Stay and Amazing Hospitality

My father, my dog, and I all stayed at Gia’s property and we could not have had a better experience. The unit was clean and suited our needs perfectly, and was also accurate to the listing. We were right across from the beach which was a lovely addition to the trip. The best part of the trip was Gia’s hospitality and kindness towards us, she made us feel right at home in the Outer Banks. We would love to stay at one of her properties again in the future. 10/10 would recommend staying here.

Perfect relaxing getaway!

The home was cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for a perfect weekend. Fully stocked kitchen made it easy to cook but location made it easy to find outside places to eat and shop. Description said it was a “skip” to private beach access which was such a luxury! Being pet friendly was such a necessary part for me and I am thankful my pup could come along!!

First of all I cannot say enough about how great our host Gia was. She was super attentive and even helped us after checkout when my fiancé accidentally left something behind. The place is clean, quiet, and literally steps away from the ocean! The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and clean up after ourselves. We stayed in the king room and the bed was really comfortable. The bedrooms and living areas are good sized and do not feel cramped. This place was the more than enough space for us and our two dogs. This is the first time we've stayed in Kill Devil Hills and it was a great experience. Everyone is so friendly and will strike up a conversation with you. I would argue that KDH has some of the best seafood in the country, so make sure to check out some local places! We recommend Chili Peppers, Awful Arthur's, and Jimmy's Seafood Buffet. Happy travels!
