Golden Strand Unit J2 is a well-maintained oceanfront condo located at milepost 7.5 in Kill Devil Hills. The Golden Strand Condominium complex has long been a popular choice for vacationers, attracting repeat renters year after year. Golden Strand J2 is a second-floor unit, providing guests with more privacy and fabulous ocean views. A large outdoor pool and direct access to the beach means everything you need for a relaxing vacation will be just steps away. Equipped with a living/dining area, full kitchen, two bedrooms and two baths, this condo combines single-family privacy with resort-style amenities. A private oceanfront deck is located just off the great room, where you can watch the sunrise or listen to the waves. A life-guarded beach, kiddie pool, and a playground make Golden Strand ideal for families with children. Additional community features include a BBQ area with park grills and picnic table, two laundry facilities, outdoor showers, and an elevator for easy access to all levels.

Situated in the heart of Kill Devil Hills, Golden Strand Unit J2 is less than a mile from shopping, dining, grocery stores, a movie theater and mini-golf. Grab lunch, dinner or drinks at Goombay's Raw Bar & Grill, just a two-minute walk away. You can also walk or bike to the Wright Brothers National Memorial, where you can climb up to the monument for a panoramic view of Kill Devil Hills.

If I was reviewing this property on location and view alone, I would give it a five star. However, there are several items that definitely need a dressing. First in both bathrooms, there was mold or dirt inside the handles of the showers. Disgusting. The kitchen definitely needs additional supplies. Overall, the furniture just needs sprucing up.

Great location and the unit was clean. Perfect space for a family of 4. Kitchen was adequate for cooking needs. The negative is that the mattress and box spring could use updating as they appear to be very old, and it was uncomfortable.

Beautiful location, but main bed was very uncomfortable. Fridge didn't seal unless you pushed the bottom of the door. Had to buy our own toilet paper and paper towels, even though it was stated they would be there. Overall a good place to stay as a family.

Great location

Couldn’t ask for a better location. Laundry room is free to use which is a first. The condo itself was good size and not cramped. Kitchen had the bare minimum but was fine for us.

A nice unit

Overall a nice experience at this property. There have been some recent updates to the unit, but it is still pretty dated. Especially the bathrooms. Despite this, it was comfortable, and the location is really great. You can't beat the views and the beach access, and we liked that it was centrally located, making day trips to the northern and southern parts of the island convenient.

Great location

We enjoyed our stay. The location & proximity to the beach cannot be beat. It was clean & somewhat updated. There was new flooring throughout. The only negatives were that we didn’t have a parking pass & the office closes before check in. We were concerned that we would get towed. We were able to get one the next day. Also, the place needs more updating especially the dishwasher as I’m afraid it did not get dishes very clean.

Golden Strand J2

The unit was clean and well appointed. A little TLC needs to happen to the portable A/C unit in the MB as cardboard and painters tape do not seal against gale force winds during the spring. Temps dropped and the unit was cold. Heat worked. I asked for the pool codes from the property manager and am still waiting. Our very kind neighbor gave us entry into the pool area. Overall, enjoyed our stay and will stay again.
