WELCOME to 515 Wood River Drive, one of the original fishing homes in Ketchum, Idaho! We face the Big Wood River, with great fishing year 'round. And we're just a short walk to town, the bike path, and Bald Mountain -- Sun Valley's premier peak with great winter skiing.
Our authentic, beautifully preserved log home has been completely remodeled: two bedrooms and two baths upstairs and a large master bedroom and bath downstairs. But, we’ve retained the original log-cabin look of the original house. We were in love with the house when we first saw it; we love it even more after our extensive and careful remodeling. And, we’ve attempted to bring inside some of the outside that is historic Ketchum, the Ketchum we love. The kitchen’s hickory cabinets blend with the color of the logs of the outer walls. The white tile reflects the snow in season, while the forest green grouting and other green accent colors — like the green leather and upholstery in the living room — reflect the evergreens and grass of the spring and summer.
In keeping with our affection for the house, which we want to share with you, you will find a number of fragile wood carvings — of fish, beaver, raccoon, and bear — that we commissioned a Montana artist to create. We had another artist capture the feeling of Idaho in oil paintings you’ll find displayed in the living room, the master bedroom, and the hallway. The house is light and sunny; windows overlook the yard and the Big Wood River. It’s not a very large home; very few homes in this area, many 70 years old and even older, are not large … at least by today’s standards. But our house is charming and cozy.
The house comfortably sleeps 6 in beds. In special cases we can accommodate up to 8 people (please inquire if interested).
We love dogs — I am privileged to own two adorable Goldens myself — and have designed the house to accommodate the needs and safety of our four-legged friends. The property is completely private with an organic yard and mature trees, surrounded by a handsome fence that offers full security to children and pets.

Our family of 4- 2 adults, 2 children (aged 10 and 12), and our family dog had a wonderful time here. We thoroughly enjoyed the close proximity to River Run Lodge and being able to walk our dog on the wood river trail. The fenced backyard was also amazing to have, especially in the snow, for my kiddos and dog to play in. Hope to return soon!
We enjoyed everything about our stay. Our toddler grandchildren visited and we had a great time in the backyard with them and the dogs. Fishing right across the street was good. The location was very convenient for getting a cup of coffee on the patio. Communications with the host were perfect. We hope to return.
This was our second stay here and we enjoyed it equally well as the first. It has old house flavor with many modern comforts. The fenced yard is beautiful and the location an easy walk to the public trails. Mary Ann is a very attentive and accomodating host.
This log cabin was perfect for our family of 5 with 3 older kids. Very welcoming and cozy atmosphere with lots of books and outdoor-themed decor. The location was great - close to skiing and downtown. Would recommend!
We spent a few nights here with our two kids and yellow lab. The property is exactly as described and shown in the photos. The location is hard to beat at the price. It is definitely quaint, with an intentional retro feel. The owner was accommodating and easy to work with.
Pet-friendly cozy log cabin decorated with many unique carved ducks, mountain and dog pictures. Had everything my wife and I needed for our 5 night stay, with our little dog (including a fenced in back yard.). Located across the street from homes that back to the river and walking distance to Wood River Trail. Convenient drive to town without being in town. Host was highly responsive regarding the couple of minor items we brought to her attention.
This is a cute cabin in Sun Valley that is nestled among big trees, close to the Bigwood River, and an easy walk into town. It has a lovely, private patio that we spent hours on each evening. The host, Mary Ann, is friendly and quick to respond to questions. We will definitely stay here again!
Authentic, historical, comfortable and welcoming. Fenced yard and outdoor terrace area is really terrific - private and secure!
Plenty of parking space, room for bikes and equipment storage. Location is lovely and quiet with nature trees. Well set-up for our active family.
Perfect size for our family and Location was perfect near town, bike trail and Bald Mountain. Great outdoor space and views. After a few recommendations to the owner about outdoor comfort for future guests (including new lounge chairs) , she was very accommodating and already making changes. Would stay here again.
Great for dog owners who like clean places. Fenced in yard, AC, beautiful home, responsible and kind host, quiet neighborhood near the river and downtown. Ten stars out of a possible five!
We spent a month at Mary Ann's house and it was perfect. We could walk to downtown Ketchum and the River Run base. Our dogs loved walking around the neighborhood and the nearby bike path. The house was comfortable and well equipped and any questions we had were easily answered with a review of the many instruction sheets placed throughout the house. The Village Market was very convenient. We had a great time - and appreciate that Mary Ann is willing to share her house with others.
Booked the yard for my Aussie! Did not disappoint! Fully & securely fenced so he could run around and we didn’t have to think twice about it. Loved how tucked back away from the hustle and bustle that west Ketchum can become in the summer. This meant our little self appointed neighborhood watch security guard never went on duty and so we all got a lovely serene vacation! Miss Mary is lovely and very responsive- had a slight snafu with the fridge and she was on it to get it resolved by the next day. House was filled with charm, incredibly clean and odor free and stocked with just about everything you’ll need to get settled in. Reminded me of the Ketchum I grew up in. Will be back!
Home made for a lovely respite for our Sun Valley mid-winter family weekend (Couple, plus husband/wife 2 teens). Layout was fantastic and location convenient to slopes and town! House was clean and has everything you need to cook - and then some. Appreciated the signage posted throughout (vs hunting in a guest book for information). Communication with the host was good with timely responses. The living room sofas are somewhat tired. Primary negative about the home is the beds are exceptionally FIRM. As others have mentioned, there are lots of books to peruse and limited space to store groceries (outside the fridge). Overall, very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay.
This cabin pairs nicely with the laid- back Ketchum vibe. Located in a quiet forested neighborhood a few blocks from downtown, this dog friendly home is surrounded by tall pine and aspen trees.
Our golden retrievers loved the large securely fenced yard.
Inside, the home was very clean.
An extensive book collection throughout the house will encourage you to put down the phone. A great place to relax and recharge. We will definitely come back.
Mary Ann is a great host.

My wife and family were in the Ketchum area for a few days and we brought out two Labs.
Regardless of the dogs being very well accommodated, the house and location was nearly perfect. We loved the home, area and accessibility it offered us. If you are a cook, you will find more than your average 'rental' kitchen stock.
As there is no perfect possibility in some minds, I would consider bringing an updated bedroom pillow. The provided comfort was basic as one could expect. But we loved the comfort.
Thanks for the rental.
The property is located right near the roundhouse gondola and a short walk into town. The place was exactly as the reviews said. Felt like staying at Grandma’s cabin in the woods. There is a lot of stuff on every surface of this cabin. Not sure who is staying long enough to read the 200-300 books, would have loved a few more games and puzzles. The overall cleanliness was less than desired. It is a pet friendly house, and it showed. There was a lot of dog hair on the couch and things just felt a little dirty. The upstairs is very tight with angled doors and ceilings, but worked great for our kids. As long as you expect an eclectic little cabin, that clearly allows dogs, and is in a great location, this is a great place.
It is difficult to find a property where dogs are welcome, and we were grateful to find this house. Mary Ann is a very attentive host. When we left early because the internet speed is super slow and the pillows are hard/compressed/very uncomfortable, she said she would get right on fixing these issues. I would also say the whole house needs a serious decluttering: too many knicknacks, especially decoy ducks, too many books piled everywhere, and too many kitchen things. One or two of each kind of kitchen utensil is enough, as are one or two cutting boards - not half a dozen of each.
Food cupboard is overflowing, expiration dates need checking. Lots of pots and pans - really way too many.
Yard is beautiful, great location.
