Wifi is okay, 7-10 mbps with vpn. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms are nice and big. No A/C, but provide 2 fans, which are powerful. So not an issue. I just used 1 fan. Close to the market and beach. 3km away is a gym. By tuktuk $2.5. Comes with a seating area outside, breakfast is sent to your seating area. You will come across bugs, regardless if windows are open or closed. Bed has a netting surrounding it, so no bugs at night. You will see small ants in the washroom.

We had some really relaxed days at Bird of Paradise bungalows. Very nice staff and the owner is always happy to help and to share some good advice. Very good location and motorbike rental is available on short notice. We really appreciated the proper size or our morning coffee mug which was more than generous :)

We really like the couple who run the place. Super friendly and helpful. We walked the 8 kilometer loop around the national park and enjoyed that. Really great views.

Great place to stay in Kep. About a 4 minute walk to the Crab Market and restaurants. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. Very clean and the grounds are beautiful. We loved siting on our private deck.

I loved my stay at Bird of Paradise. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. Steve is a wonderful host with so much information if you need it. The porch among the leaves is a perfect place to have a cold beer. There is a store five minutes away with everything you need. A ten minute walk will get you to the crab market, where you can either buy from a vendor, squid, fish, crab, chicken, with the pepper they rave about, and it is worth raving about. Or you can choose from a heap of restaurants on the water. If it's breakfast you're after try the Arts Cafe, where you can enjoy your coffee while staring at the sea. Kep Beach is about a fifteen minute walk, where you can find some white sand. The national park is a five minute tuk tuk ride from Steve's an up the hill. If it's peace and quiet and few cold beers you're after, having done the rest of the country, then Bird of Paradise is perfect.

From a very experienced senior (81 yrs) traveller

Steven and his lovely wife are excellent hosts. They answered all our questions with good advise. The location is very good if you want to walk to the crab market and the row of restaurants on the sea. His recommendations where accurate without bias. He also facilitated our return tickets to Phu Quoc, much easier than our trip to Kep. The bus company drove us to immigration, we did not have to carry any luggage across the border. Only on the Vietnamese side, we had to walk a very short distance to the bus stop, which then dropped us off at the pier. Thank you to Bird of Paradise for a lovely stay.

An Englishman in Kep

Peter ist ein großartiger Gastgeber, nach eigenen Angaben der einzige Engländer in Kep. Er macht morgens liebevoll frühstück, natürlich mit der obligatorischen HP Sauce zu Eiern mit Speck, organisiert Ausflüge und Bustickets sofort. Ein kleines Paradies.

A little piece of paradise.

The Bird of Paradise is conveniently located just off the main road, just a short walk from the Crab Market, the National Park and the beach. The bungalows are in a lovely garden location, they are clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was a very nice start to the day. Steve and his staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging scooter hire, boat trips and onward travel. I stayed an additional 3 nights and would definitely stay again and I’m happy to recommend this property.

Nous devions rester une nuit et nous en sommes restés au final tellement nous avons aimé les bungalows de Bird of Paradise et la ville. Super bungalow. Rapport qualité-prix très bon. Très bien situé pour aller à la plage et faire le parc national ainsi que pour manger au crab market. Petit déjeuner très bons (mention spéciale pour le pancake banane miel !!). Et surtout il y a plein de petits animaux de compagnies. Génial je recommande

A really nice place

A cozy room, very close to the crab market. Great concierge service that can get you a lot of things taken care of, including tickets for your further journey. Home-made food good both for breakfast and (especially) lunch/dinner. And very friendly owners - do sit down with them, order a beer/cocktail (or two, maybe three) and enjoy a chat about Kep, Cambodia, economical situation in the country, etc :) Watch out for the rooms without the air-conditioning if you really can't handle the heat.

There are many like myself having special diet. IF I had know of NO FOOD of any kind is allowed into the premises, I would NOT hv book this Bird of Paradise. Their reason is it wl attract ants. In almost any hotel in Cambodia, IndoChina, there ants common everywhere. I grew up in homes build on stilt,raised platform & homes build on ground level. There are many ways to prevent ants, insects, crawlers including snakes from getting into the premises. If they are not aware, probably they get some ideas from the locals. NO fridge, kettle but thanks goodness they oblidge the hot water. European,American guest may rate this Bird of Paradise as 4/5. But by Asian stardard, Asian culture& traditions, the hospitability, friendliness are norms and usual & expected. Any unaccomodating is considered as hostile, unfavourable.
