Magnificent! Private Pool & Hot Tub - 180 degree Ocean View; U pick Orchard
WOW !!! is always the first thing I hear from guests. SO MUCH BEAUTY!
Looking for that authentic Hawaiian Home experience? This is it. Eat off the land and be amazed by the gorgeous flowers and birds.
This house is a real Gem. Private, comfortable, spacious, peaceful, and relaxing; You will enjoy the lush, luxurious landscape in this peaceful paradise, away from the crowds, yet close to many pristine beaches. This one acre estate is located in one of Kona's most desirable neighborhoods, four miles north of Kona village, at 900 ft elevation where the days are 10 degrees cooler than the coast and the humidity is far more comfortable. You can open your windows all year long and enjoy the breezes. You'll love the spaciousness of the 1 acre lot with no neighbors in sight and the 180 degree view of the Ocean will take your breath away.
900 feet is the best elevation for many of the delicious, exotic fruits growing here and also allows for great coastline and ocean views.
My husband and I live quietly upstairs and stay invisible unless you want us.
Come, enjoy the Kona Heavens Hideaway as your home away from home. It feels like you're out in the country, yet everything you need is just a short drive away . Staying here is the best of both worlds!

A perfect home base for a small family on the Big Island. Beautiful pool and hot tub, don’t even need to dry off to cook in the outdoor kitchen while still enjoying the incredible view. Owners are super nice and the property is absolutely impeccable.

This is a wonderful property with great views, beautiful pool (and hot tub) and a very comfortable home. Outdoor kitchen was well-stocked. The gardens are gorgeous too. Central location to this side of island. Highly recommend.

We had a great time staying at this beautiful home. The views are absolutely incredible. Property owner very kind and even kept out luggage after check out since we had a late flight. Outside kitchen and pool were really nice. Great place to watch the sunset.

We have staying in many places found through vrbo but this one was exceptional. Beautiful setting, clean and well maintained property, easy to get to places from, space to run around... it had it all. We loved the privacy of the pool and gardens. My 12 year old twins loved the chickens!
We would love to return for another visit!

My wife and I loved our eleven days we spent at this home.
The views from the home are outstanding.
Each morning eating our breakfast from the outside kitchen and listening to the birds and watching the clouds drift over the ocean are priceless memories.
The neighborhood and overall location of this home are excellent.
We will be back again to the Big Island and staying at this home.

By far the best VRBO we have ever been to. Yes the kitchen is outside. Does it matter? No! It’s Hawaii! Delightful property, owner is very friendly and helpful. She was always prompt when answering any questions we had. Free tropical fruit and eggs. Pool is deep enough to practice your snorkeling or free diving techniques. Lovely neighborhood. Loved staying in the hills above Kona, it was always a little cooler up there. The standard by which we will judge all future VRBOs.

We stayed here for the first time in April 2018 and loved it so when we planned a somewhat spontaneous trip back to Kona in November this was an easy choice. There are many good vacation rentals in Kona and we typically like to move around to have differing experiences each time. So it's a tribute to the appeal of this place that we came here again. Sandra and Ken are very gracious and informative hosts, and we've learned a lot about good snorkeling sites and places to eat out that we might never have thought of.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay here. The property is spectacular and very private yet just a few minutes from the coast. Sandra made us feel very welcome and was very responsive to any questions. She had great suggestions for locations to visit! Everything about the property was great: the orchard (with massive avocados), the well-stocked kitchen, the pool & hot tub... I could go on and on. SO happy we chose this home over a resort property.

This property was the perfect home base for our family's first trip to Hawaii. We wanted a mix of relaxation and exploration, and Sandra's property made both of those fantastically easy. Our whole family enjoyed downtime in the pool, hot tub, and yard playing badminton while the location made it a good jump off point for trips north or south along the coast or to head towards Hilo. Also convenient for airport, groceries, and restaurants. The house was immaculately clean, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking, & the beach toys, chairs, and towels were much appreciated. The memories of the lovely ocean view looking over the gorgeous yard's diverse and beautiful foliage mixed with the bird sounds will always linger when thinking of our time there!!

We just loved, loved, loved our stay here. Such a beautiful spot with the view of the ocean and wonderfully landscaped yards. I enjoyed waking up early with my six year old and exploring the property for wildlife - birds, geckos, visiting wild chickens - and enjoying all the many fruit trees. My husband was in love with the outdoor kitchen. Our son thoroughly enjoyed all the legos and toys - when not in the pool which is where we spent most of our time. The unit had everything we needed, minus washer/dryer (unless we were absolutely blind), but as it was a shorter stay we managed without.
Would stay there again in a heartbeat and hope that that day will come again soon!
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us.

We've stayed in numerous VRBO properties on Kona and this ranks as one of the best as far as how the the accommodations are set up. The kitchen is well stocked with necessary cookware, serving wear, and appliances, which is not always the case. We've experienced other places where such things are a haphazard collection of dated items and poorly organized. Also the pool equipment and patio furniture were in great shape. The large combined bedroom and sitting area is spacious and comfortably decorated and has a view looking towards the coast. Our hosts Sandra and Ken live on the property and were always available to answer questions, and gave us many excellent recommendations from where to snorkel to places to eat. We also found the property location near the intersection of Hina Lani and Hwy 190 gave us more options for traveling both north and south than some of the other places we'd stayed, so it's convenience to facilitating us getting to place more quickly is a plus.

Our family enjoyed our stay, with family members reporting that this was our best trip yet to Big Island. Sandra greeted us warmly upon arrival. She kindly left a few homegrown goodies for us in the fruit bowl, which was a big hit. The outdoor kitchen is very well appointed, and we did not eat out for any of our meals. Sharp knives, basic spices, proper cookware-we were not disappointed. The family grill master enjoyed having all the tools he needed to get the job done. Of course the backyard pool, toys, sunset added to the wonderful experience. The beds were a comfortable place to land at the end of the day. Plenty of linens, a spare toothbrush for the one who left his at home, toiletries-all much appreciated. The provided beach towels were thick and absorbent. The washer and dryer worked well, and it was so helpful to have cleans clothes when needed. And the location. Surprisingly convenient, to Costco, to the highway up the hill and down the hill, plus so many attractions with an easy drive's distance. Our family of 4 highly recommends a stay here while in Kona.

Listing description is misleading. This is not really a rental house - you are renting 2 rooms and a great pool/hot tub. One "bedroom" is actually a living room, other bedroom is very small with 2 twin beds. Extra aero beds are meant to be set up in living/"bed" room. Ok for families with small kids, but 5-8 adults? Not so much, if you want privacy. Outdoor kitchen is better in theory - in reality there are mice and cockroaches to contend with. The dishes should have been professionally cleaned after previous occupants left (many were sticky/dirty). For kids = FUN. Owner is very nice/helpful, but for most people, there are better deals to be had elsewhere.

Our family loved staying here, truly felt like a paradise. The accommodations were great, we really liked that the kitchen and dining area were outdoors, not common to us coming from SD. Our 3 kids all play soccer so they had plenty of room to kick the ball around and play frisbee in the huge yard. Picking fresh fruit from the property was awesome too. The kids ate a ton of fresh starfruit while we were there. We received a botanical tour from the yard care guys that came by to mow and clean the property and then one of them invited our kids to join the local youth soccer club at their next pick-up game time which they did (another highlight for them). The pool and hot tub were used a lot, we got some really awesome silhouetted pictures of our kids doing poses on the diving board at sunset. The view is breathtaking but even more so at sunset. We also enjoyed the badminton. Always felt like there was something for everyone to stay occupied with. Sandra was very accommodating and always responsive if we had a question. Although this was our first VRBO experience, I’m not sure there’s a better property out there.😉

VRBO advertises that when you rent through vrbo you are renting the entire property & not sharing your vacation with owners. That is not the case with this property. You are renting 2 rooms in a basement of the house they live in. You see and hear them every day and are expected to adhere to quiet hours to not disturb them. We rent through vrbo vs. others so we can have a house to ourselves. In addition the room search parameters were 2 bedrooms, 2 FULL baths and a living room. There are only 2 rooms - a bedroom and a living room that has a bed in it & 1 full bath. If someone wakes up early & wants to use the living room you can’t because people are sleeping in it. When I asked the owner, who was at the “house” we rented, where the 2nd full bath was she told me there was an outside shower. That was a shower head with no privacy walls so you’d need to take a shower in your bathing suit or be ok showering nude in the open. When we got there we explained the property was not advertised accurately and we specifically searched for 2 bedroom/2 full bath house and got a 2 room basement and asked to be let out of the rental - even offered to pay a portion of the rental-so we could find something like what we searched for- she refused. Was not empathetic at all. We stayed away from the property as much as possible because it felt awkward sitting out by the pool when the owners could see/hear us from their deck. The property was beautiful and we would have loved enjoying it privately

I can't say enough good things about our vacation at this home. I did tons of hours of research looking for a vacation rental on-line. I keep coming back to this one as it had it's own pool and hot tub, which not that many did, and the price was very reasonable.. I had some trepidations about sharing the home as this is a basement rental. Turned out that this home is very private like it says. I couldn't have been more pleased. Now for the good stuff. The pool and spa were fantastic. We loved the outdoor kitchen and covered patio area's. The views were very good as we watched the sunsets and the boats come and go from a little harbor. The grounds were gorgeous and filled with flowers and fruit trees. This is such a good place I actually wish that we had more time just to enjoy the views, pool, etc.. Another great feature is this homes location. I had never been on Hawaii before and didn't really know the island at all. I knew that Kono was the dry side and that was about it. This home is close to just about everything we did. Costco is just down the hill, but the home is in a quite residential neighborhood. Kono Diving Company, (which I have to highly recommend as well. You absolutely have to do the night Manta Ray snorkel or dive. We did the snorkel and it's worth coming to the island just by itself. Research this, you wont be disappointed), is also just down the hill about 10 minutes away. It's almost centrally located between the volcano and Hilo as well, both of which we visited in day trips.
This trip was a big deal for my family of four, something we can't afford very often, but I would not even considered staying anywhere else on the big island. Thank you Sandra for this rental and a place we will remember always!

I must start by saying that Sandra the owner was warm and helpful prior to and throughout our stay. The accommodations were a bit of a disappointment. My wife and I stayed here with two teenagers. While the hot tub is wonderful the pool is not heated so even though we stayed in mid-March it was very cold and not usable. The master bedroom being combined with the only TV and living area was a bummer and makes the unit feel cramped even though there is a decent amount of square footage. Additionally, the 2nd bedroom is not attached to the main unit. You need to go outside to get to the very small 2nd bedroom that has no TV. Our teenage daughter was not comfortable going outside at night and other than sleeping the 2nd unit really cannot be used for anything. The outdoor kitchen is extremely over rated. Even though we were very careful about any crumbs or food droppings as well as keeping all our food either in closed containers or in the fridge there were some large, nasty bugs we came across in the kitchen. Additionally, the kitchen does not have an oven or dishwasher.
Lastly, while the owners were very good about respecting our privacy they live right on top of the rental unit. On the days we stayed in the unit and relaxed we could hear them every time they flushed the upstairs toilet or walked across the floor above us. If you are using the pool, hot tub or poolside tables and they are out on their patio on the 2nd floor they are literally right above you and you can hear them and they can hear you.
In our opinion this is not a good unit for families with anything other than fully grown kids.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Sandra's beautiful Hawai'i home. This was our first return to the islands since our honeymoon thirty years ago, and this property made it a perfect anniversary gift to ourselves. I'll admit to a good bit of nervousness about booking a private residence online, especially one with so much glass (privacy?), but it said that the entire lower level was ours only, so we went for it. When we arrived, we were reassured that indeed, it was all just for us- The pool, spa, surrounding deck, back yard, all of it! I could make my morning coffee in my ratty tee shirt and shorts just like at home without worrying about dressing for the neighbors. We could have wandered around in our altogether, if we were that sort. It was that private.
The home and grounds were exactly as photographed. The interiors were spotless, the yard and gardens were impeccably maintained. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed to prepare breakfasts and dinners, while being shaded from the sun and dry when it rained. There was a blender for making smoothies from all the fruit we picked in the gardens, and a coffee grinder for the coffee nerd in me that has to have fresh ground beans every morning. (Everyone on the island has their favorite Kona roaster- ask around. They aren't shy about it)
We would go out in the mornings to explore, swim, shop, walk across lava fields, eat, try local brews, whatever. When we had gotten toasted enough by the sun, we would return to our mountainside retreat where it was cooler and quiet, and relax in the warm spa or take a swim in the pool. Then it was time to choose- go out for dinner at a waterside restaurant and watch the sunset, or make dinner and see the sunset from our kitchen? Tough decisions, right?
The location of this home is perfect. Far enough out of town to be quiet and relaxing. Close enough to town for when we wanted to mingle like the tourists we are. In the heat of the day, the elevation makes the home cooler. At night we kept the sliding doors open to the breezes and didn't miss air conditioning at all. We woke to the sounds of birds we've never heard at home.
I must mention Mango, a young cat who liked to join us most mornings at breakfast, and make figure eights around my ankles while I did the morning dishes. Charming. Impossible not to like her. Say "Hi" for me when you see her.
We would recommend this property to anyone, and we plan to return there on our next trip.

My family and I stayed for a week at spring break and enjoyed our stay. This stay is the bottom floor of a large house and a giant back yard full of fruit trees. We enjoyed spending time outdoors, the ocean view and especially the fresh fruit and avocados. The hot tub was also very nice and we made use of the badmitton set and basketball hoop. Unfortunately the pool was broken during our stay, but we were given a partial refund for this and I'm sure it's fixed by now. After the crowded beaches, it was always nice to come back to this peaceful oasis. It felt very private even being in a neighborhood.
