Big Island on a Budget
If you are trying to see the big island on a budget I would recommend checking this place out. Only 5 minutes from the ocean and the main area of Kona. Not the fanciest option, but overall a nice, clean place to stay. Recommended!

Nice, but loud.

Ease and efficacity
Great communication with owner. We arrived very late but the lights were on for us and we had no problem getting in. Everything was as expected. The only down side was the neighborhood... a little noisy for us Alaskans, but it's part of what makes a trip exotic! Thank you for welcoming us!

A great place to stay if you are looking for simple yet cozy.
The space is small so an extended stay may be a little difficult with 2+ people but it is perfect for a couple that’s looking for an affordable stay! It’s clean organized and has the basic amenities! Bed was comfy!

It was already dark when we were looking for the correct address—it took us a while. We wished there had been more light in the room. Once we moved the blinds up, could not get down—should be a warning sign.

Aloha. Thank you for your stay in our studio. I’m not sure if you realized that the overhead ceiling fan is a light and I have 2 end table lamps by the bed and a touch desk light. Needs some updates
Floor fans were filthy, old and rusty. PVC white blinds don't darken the room and none of them were closed. Fans were not on, host lives upstairs, could have made an effort to cool the place down since she knew that I would only be there for a few hours. I would not stay there or recommend this place. Very expensive for what you get and I did not feel welcomed. Host was asked to provide for an early check in since I was only there for a few hours before catching my flight that same day which I made clear to her. She offered me 2PM and her usual check in is at 3PM. I asked her to call me if it was ready earlier. She did not. She sent a message through VRBO that it was ready at 1:30PM and I did not see that message until I checked in at 2PM. I tried to sleep after I went to get something to eat and could not because it was too loud from the street traffic and also much too hot. I left the place at 6PM. The positive is that the bed is very comfortable and other than the fans being dirty and rusty, the rest of the place was very clean. My opinion is that at the price being charged per night, AC can be installed and black out curtains or blinds can be used to cover the windows. Of all the VRBO's I have rented, this has been the worst in terms of price/quality/amenities ratio.

Aloha Odile In regards to the fans, I am the one who cleans the studio and they do get cleaned/dusted almost every day as the majority of my guest are 1 night (since I do not require a minimum stay) so I am responsible to make sure the unit is sanitized before every guest checks in. Also, in regards to some rust on the fans, it’s a known issue here in Hawaii due to my close proximity to the ocean with the salty air. I realized I may not always meet everyone’s expectations but luckly for the past year and a half I have had wonderful guest’s who have given me such positive reviews and feedback. I’m not sure why you were not felt welcome as I did accommodate your request for an early check in as best as I could with guest’s checking out that day. On the VRBO site I list all the amenities and have pictures of every angle of the studio. You requested an hourly rate which I book the unit on a nightly rate so I was not able to offer you that. Next time a condo might fit your taste better. Aloha. Kim and Scott

Love the colorful wall colors & decorations! Very comfortable bed. Beautiful sunset! Great place for 1-2 people only a 10-15 minute drive from the Bay Area restaurants.

Kim has outfitted her property with one of everything. The Studio is attached to her home in a lovely neighborhood. It is a great location for driving to North, South, East or West coast for sight-seeing and water activities. In addition it is near Ali'i Drive for great little shops, restaurants, bars and music! Kim was quick to respond to all of our questions both before and during our stay!

Very basic walk out basement room with bathroom. Coffee maker and microwave but no cooking facilities. Seemed greatly overpriced, however probably comparable to an extremely expensive Kona resort rate market currently. For that amount of money in the future will choose to spend a few dollars more and stay in a decent hotel.

Nice place for Kailua-Kona stay
Have easy access to, but be away from the main drag hubub. We got in pretty late, so didn't take full advantage, but if you have more time they had a lovely little porch and beach supplies. Be aware of limitations of kitchenette (island-wide regulations).

Great place
Clean, well decorated studio. Comfy bed and a nice shower. Very convenient location in Kona. No AC but plenty of windows and 3 fans so it cooled down to a comfortable temperature, especially at night. We enjoyed our stay!

The property is very dated. Portable fan is rusted and dirty. It's quite hot inside the studio at night due to direct exposure to after sun. Can't leave all windows open at night because if safety concerns. It's right by the street and there is no barrier from the street to the front door of the house. sun

Great overnight stay!

Quick inter-island trip!
My husband and I stayed the night for a friends wedding. We came from Maui for 1 night, and the check in/out process was seamless and easy. Bed was comfortable and interior was cute and cozy. Just what we needed to quick get ready for the wedding, and get a good nights sleep after! The cottage is on a really beautiful street with quick access to the beach. Would recommend.

Clean bed; but no ice or mean to make ice. No AC and noisy street and if you are a sensitive sleeper, it's something to consider. no sugar stocked for coffee but I think it's probably missed during cleaning. The bathroom (tub and toilet) and microwave could use an upgrade.

Great location
Very easy to find and central to most everything on the Kona side. It was pretty much as described; but because we had stayed with my nephew the week before we were prepared for the lack of air conditioning, but I didn’t see that mentioned in the description. We were comfortable during our stay, but the floor fans did need to be cleaned off before using. We also did need to clean part of the refrigerator before putting our food in, and there were visible cobwebs in open floor areas. The shower pressure is great, and we didn’t hear any noise from above which meant for great sleeping. The fans combined with the street noise made for difficulty in hearing the tv. Be aware that while the listing does show a refrigerator, it is one without a freezer. This is a nice place but bathroom needs updating, and speakers on the sitting side (or a soundbar) would be helpful.
