The Adventure Lodge is a great place. I love the feel of Island Park. There were several issues with the cabin, though. First of all, we asked the property manager if we could check in at 2pm instead of the standard 4pm. She said it would be no problem. We arrived on site at 2:15 and the manager was there re-stocking. We had to wait until after 3pm before we were able to get in. The outside of the cabin is beautiful with a big front porch and a hot tub. Lights are hanging all over the front porch which is pretty cool. The inside of the cabin was dirty. There’s a certain type of dirtiness that someone can expect by staying in a cabin in the woods, but this went a little beyond that. We had to clean before we could get set up. The mantle above the fireplace was covered in dead bugs and a layer of dust. There were cobwebs throughout, especially in the windows, by doors, and in the kitchen table chairs. The laundry washer smelled like mold, and so did the white towels in the bathrooms (we had to wash them before using them which took half a day). The basement hadn’t been vacuumed because I stepped on a half-eaten sucker and my wife picked up an empty bag of chips from the floor in the basement. The basement also smelled like a dog had been down there. The bathroom doorknob upstairs was inoperable, so we couldn’t lock it. I notified the manager of these things and she didn’t have a response. I requested to speak with the owner before I left this review, and I didn’t hear from the owner until more than 2 weeks after our stay, in which he said “sorry our cleaner didn’t do a good job”. I assume all these issues will be made right. One can only hope.
