Great Hotel Resort. Excellent Breakfast, nice rooms and pools, professional and very helpfull staff, well located with almost "private" Sea Beach. Incredible Sea view. If possible I will keep visiting them almost every year.

This is no 5* star hotel. Superficially the hotel looks fine especially in the promotions, however in reality the facilities were poor and food was cold and uninspired. Rooms barely cleaned daily and amenities in room not replaced. The little touches of your normal 5* were not at this hotel. Had booked half board but gave up and ate out . Would recommend the Medsa and Island Restaurant (this is unrelated to the hotel)

If this was a 4 star hotel it would be poor, however it professes to be 5 star, which makes it terrible. Room, a cool suite. Bedroom, living room & 2 bathrooms. That said the sound system in the room was an old CD player. Not retro! Food - We expected 4 places to eat, there was only a buffet open for b/fast, lunch & dinner. The Stone was open lunch till 6pm & the Taverna open for dinner only Monday & Friday! However due to the terrible staff (excluding housekeeping who were good but understaffed & overworked) we did not eat OR drink anything 'sold' by the hotel. We asked for a bucket of ice and were told initially it was against Greek law to provide, then it was against Greek Health & Safety law and finally it was hotel policy not to provide it?! For a 5 star hotel very poor. Pools - Bed blocking was rife despite signs, the staff made NO effort to manage. In fact there were NO staff around the pools EVER. The towels were wafer thin & only 1 towel was allowed per person.... That towel had to be kept and could be changed between 1000 - 1200hrs each day! The sprinklers were put on at 3pm beside one of the pools. This soaked the towel if you were within 5ft of the sprinklers. The sunbeds were simply a piece of thin material on a metal frame. Seriously uncomfortable. Gouves is quiet, was fine for us. Gouves restaurants (12+ to choose from) were ALL very good. Don't waste your money in this poor hotel, go to the restaurants. Whatever the hotel says in response, do not believe it.

We had a wonderful stay at The Island Hotel in Crete. The atmosphere was peaceful, and everything was exceptionally clean. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway, and we loved every moment. Highly recommended!

Truly a 5 star hotel

What an amazing hotel this was, booked two rooms with a sharing pool and they were amazing, I called the hotel to see if they could make sure we got rooms next to each other, they sorted that for us, what a treat to have our own pool. The breakfast was great, loads of choice. The spa was wonderful, had a salt scrub and olive oil massage, very relaxing indeed! All in all we had an amazing stay! Thank you The Island Hotel you were great!

If you're looking for a quiet, restful break, The Island is perfect. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. It felt safe, peaceful and the hotel is beautiful and kept in perfect condition. The only small critique is the gym equipment needs to be upgraded, but I wasn't upset about staying by the pool more.

We had a fantastic stay at The Island. The hotel staff were attentive and courteous, going out of their way to ensure our stay was the best it could be. The beach was excellent, as were the different pool areas within the hotel, offering something for everyone. Breakfast was also very good, although we did not eat at the hotel during the evening, due to the various restaurants available close by.

Everything about the resort was clean, classy, well maintained and felt luxurious. It is a long way from anything but the beach, although that beach is perfect and there are plenty of bars and reataurants along the coast. Getting to any sights or cities will require an expensive taxi or a car, but the hotel is so luxurious and relaxing you many not want to leave!

This property was amazing!! We stayed for 3 nights for our honeymoon and loved it. There are 3 shared pools (one quiet, one with a pool bar and one infinity pool). There is a beach right across the street. There is basketball and tennis courts, a spa and a breakfast and dinner buffet on site. There is even a little store with pretty much anything you could need. The hotel staff was great and helped us book transport to and from the ferry ports. Our room was beautiful which had a private pool for us, we highly recommend this stay!

This is an excellent location for a tranquil break. Good food choices with lots of flavour. There was always space around the pools and the beach was easy to access. It was shallow enough to snorkel and spotted a few fish. I would choose this hotel again when I visited Crete. The bus stop was quite a walk away but the buses are easy to use.
