The photos on the Expedia site did not accurately present the Quality Inn Riverfront property. It is a dump akin to lodgings found in third world countries. It should be closed down or torn down and rebuilt. Although it claims to be a completely smoke-free facility, it is just the opposite. Thick layers of heavily perfumed air freshner do not mask the many years and continued effects of cigarette smoke, noticeable as soon as one enters the lobby. The window 'shades' intended to provide privacy are rife with holes and tears and are decades beyond timely replacement. The walls are riddled with surface defects and ill-performed patches. Like the rest of the facility, the carpet is years beyond its useful life. The two-level building is quite long. The lobby location at one extreme end left quite a distance to my cigarette smoke infested room....and then a return trip to the front desk. I cannot fault the staff as they were pleasant and did furnish a much brighter, cleaner room on the second floor. Given my 1AM arrival, I had no choice but to stay. The facility has no elevator; a concern for elderly, people with limited mobility, families with small children. Regarding safety - The hotel does have a picturesque view of the Susquehanna River, however, a number of street people appear to call adjacent spaces 'home'. Although, I did not witness nor experience any safety issues, I'd suggest a fence be erected around the property. I did not try the food.

Cleaning crew let their kids run up and down the halls screaming early in the morning. My card was charged multiple times after I left the property and they couldn’t tell me why I was charged for another night when I wasn’t there and they didn’t have my card in hand. Beware!

The room was reasonable, except for the fact that there was an ant infestation in the shower. The general condition of the property (lobby, hallways) is rather poor.

The staff was friendly, otherwise the place was filthy. Stained chairs and carpet. Our room wasn’t ready. They started cleaning once we got there at 5pm. The doors hinge wasn’t on properly It was very loud and didn’t feel safe.

Needs updated and better cleaning practices for the rooms. The Queen bed was really the only thing that made this room comfortable. Checkin was superb and staff was friendly and courteous. Otherwise, the room was really not worth the rates. I did not go for breakfast, so I can’t review that, but the breakfast area looked nice upon checkin.

DIRTY RAT HOLE BED BUG DISASTER
NEVER STAY AT THIS PLACE. It had blood on the sheets and bedbugs. After complaining and moving to new rooms, the rest of stay was scary to say the least. Just waiting for something bad to happen. After requesting some sort of refund, the hotel said we never made any formal complaint so were not required to refund anything. I think coming to the front desk and saying there was blood on the sheets and getting a new room is a complaint? This hotel should not even be on hotels.com, its a rathole. We had booked two weekends in a row here, so I immediately cancelled the second stay but the hotel said the rate was non-fundable, even though it was still 5 days until check-in. Again do not stay here, zero stars, f these people for running such a crappy establishment, and a giant no thanks to hotels.com for allowing this to happen with no resolution. I book hundreds of rooms per year with you and this is how you treat loyal customers?

Horrible
The stains on room chair were unreal. Splaters of who knows what on wall. Entire hotel smelled of old and mildew. Doors closed with large gaps. The best was the included breakfast. Plain yogurt, waffle machine and frosted flakes. Warm water trying to play off as coffee felt like a needed a ahower after this stay. Do not book.

We have stayed at this property several times, and it has some nice features, like being right beside the river, with its nice waterfront walk and walking distance to some decent restaurants. It's also reasonable value for its low price. It would be great if the city of Harrisburg could do something to improve the lighting and general security along the river and along Front Street, since the area feels a bit scary at night.

No Quality for this Inn
When the front desk walks with you to the room to ensure all things are in working condition, that’s a serious problem. Cheap room and it shows with many repairs showing, tears in the carpet, holes in the walls, outlets over burdened with too many electrical devices plugged in. Mold and soap scum all over the bathroom. The only bright spot with this place, is the extremely friendly nice woman at the front desk who was very apologetic.

The location was good for where we had to go. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The hotel room was not what we expected. Cob webs in the corners of the room, stained bedsheets, our toilet did not flush and it was already rigged to flush so we rigged it again. The office chair was torn everywhere and taped to cover it up. Ripped blinds and the power went out 2 times before we even checked in. Only the hotel was affected.
