We had a fabulous 3 night stay at the Waterfall House. The home is more beautiful than pictures could show and the views are absolutely amazing, you could hear the waterfall and even the waves in the distance, right from the deck. At night we'd turn off all the lights in the house, step onto the deck, and just stand in awe of all the stars you can see. Having our own private pool and Jacuzzi was awesome, the kitchen was very well equipped with all updated appliances, and the details in the decor were just stunning. We got fresh fruits from vendors down the road for breakfast each morning, and kept the calming Hawaiian music on the surround sound all day long. The little geckos were adorable entertainment on our lazy days lounging around the house.
We are the kind of people who usually only see the sunrise if we're still up from the night before, but we left the curtains open and woke up to magical sunrises every morning (then we closed the curtains and went back to sleep like normal people, haha).
We did have issues the first few mornings with ants attracted to the vines around the bed, but the staff was quick to respond. Zara, Leahi, and Tanner were all so friendly and helpful, they gave wonderful suggestions for the area and pleasant conversations, while swiftly handling the issues. Once we got the right spray and traps set out, we didn't have any more troubles with ants the rest of our stay.
One thing to be aware of is that there's only a small AC unit in front of the main bed, and the house can get quite hot and humid at times. The cross breeze through the sliding doors was very nice, but luckily we found some powerful little fans in the closet that really helped make the rest of the home more comfortable. A quick jump in the pool or rinse in the outdoor shower never hurt either. The upstairs bedroom and loft were surprisingly cool and made for a nice afternoon nap, but the marble staircase is extremely steep and slick, so I wouldn't recommend sleeping up there at night if you get up to pee a lot, lol.
Being our first time to Maui, we were trying to see and do a lot. We enjoyed Cafe Mambo in Paia, swimming at Twin Falls, and had one of the best experiences ever at Mama's Fish House. In the future when we book here (and we will), we'll stay at least 4 nights and plan to not do anything else, take the time to truly enjoy the private, relaxing, romantic retreat this house is. It's really a vacation in itself.
