La Anita Rainforest Ranch

Guayabo

10/10 Excellent

The setting is breathtaking, with the volcanoes and rain forests surrounding you and gorgeous wildlife throughout. The hosts Ana and Pablo are incredible warm caring people who have unmatched hospitality. The tour of the chocolate plantation is a must - samples were delicious. Eat the food they prepare; it is fresh, tasty, and they can accommodate vegetarians. Most guests had rented a car because getting there requires some smaller gravel roads through tiny towns. The facilities are done with...

Vida Aventura Ranch

Mogote de Bagaces

10/10 Excellent

If you are looking to decompress, enjoy the natural beauty of a massive estate, and breath clean air - this place is the best!!! Jorge, the owner is a veteran of the tourism industry and is extremely knowledgeable about geography, history, pretty much everything Tico. The property has a few pools, a hiking trail, a water slide, horseback riding, zip lining, a jacuzzi, and more. Bring a yoga mat and a bathing suit.

Borinquen Thermal Resort

Canas Dulces

10/10 Excellent

We had a great stay at Borinquen. The facility is fabulous - set on 6,000 acres adjacent to Rincon La Vieja National Park. It is "into the wild" with getting there requiring you to drive on a rocky, dirt road about 12 miles off the highway. The grounds of the hotel were pristine. We saw lots of monkeys, toucans and other wildlife right outside our room. They have a big pool, hot springs and mud baths we all enjoyed. We stayed in a standard room the 1st night and then the JR Suites the...

MY husband and I spend our honeymoon here! We lover it. Very secluded up in the mountains. We stayed for 10 days and were not bored at all. We did activities everyday! The staff was amazing. I loved everyone in the front desk they were so helpful. To even the bartenders G and Joseph they were such good company! Ian our tour guide was very very smart. He knows every animal down to small bugs. The room was comfy nothing too fancy. Food was good too. I will have to say this experience was life...

Curubandé

10/10 Excellent

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I loved the upgraded superior room we stayed in. The room had everything we could ask for-- a private yard with hammock, room safe, espresso machine, tv, ice-cold a/c, wonderful smelling hand soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, blow dryer, hand mirror, closet with hangers, bedside reading lamps, and stocked refridge. Anytime we called the front desk for something, the staff attended to our needs in record time. I fell and scraped my knee...

Fortuna

10/10 Excellent

We only had two nights at Rio Perdido but they were amazing. From the moment we walked in and were welcomed with the most delicious passion fruit welcome drink till the moment we checked out with the friendly folk at reception, we felt warmly received and graciously cared for. Steven greeted us as we entered - he was very attentive and warm as he told us about the hotel and its various offerings. The hotel itself is gorgeous - the spacious round lobby/restaurant has nearly 360 degree open-air...
